Other Preseason Games

88 posts in this topic

I'm disappointed...by now I expected at least 3 threads on the other preseason games.

We're seeing some bad football this first week. Our performance last night was pretty good by comparison.

Jets are looking bad tonight and I could have sworn that Sanchez's second sack was a dive.

Anyone watching the other games and have any observations to share?

I'll bite!
Tebows first pass was intercepted. Which is just funny. I really don't know what the Jets are thinking. I was little disappointed in the Bills last night but there is more football to be played. Eagles game was very interesting. I feel terrible for Andy Reid. I'm glad they won that game.

Bengals D is looking good. Fortunately they got out of there with minor injuries. Vontaze Burfict actually showed some control and looked good.

Tebow couldn't do anything, but it's hard to tell how much he sucked vs. how good the Bengals defense is. I was spending a lot of time watching the Orioles.

All my skins fans friends said RG-III was just short of flawless amazing perfection.
I am considering the source.
What was reality?

He looked really poised and did well. They called smart plays for when he was in and he didn't have to force the issue. He keeps this up he will have the kind of season I expected from him.

Wishful thinking. I think most of his yards were just "throw it to Pierre Garcon and let him do all the work". Plus he had a fumble when he mis-handed the ball to his RB early in the game.

Well, if the Jets really want to be about ground and pound, what better way to ensure it than to have quarterbacks who can't throw?

Peyton didn't look all that great in the limited time he played imo. But I think that's to be expected, not playing for so long.

Been watching some Seahwaks - Titans and Robert Turbin looks really good. Also of note, Kendall Wright has had a nice performance. I know its just preseason, but I was really high on this guy and a lot of ppl gave me crap for it. He's gonna be a good one.

It was a very vanilla game. They ran the ball a lot. RG3 did make all the throws he had to make albeit I didnt see a lot of zip on them. What you saw was basically short completions and screen passes. Like other said, very poised. Overall tho, considering his gamescript I was unimpressed.

Russell Wilson tonight was what I expected to see out of RG3. He had a great game tonight. Showed good decision making, zip on his throws, arm strength and trust in his receivers. Seattle has the real deal here.

There was a team in Orlando in the World League that had lime green jerseys--I so wanted one lol

Watched the Seattle-Titans game last night and I made 3 observations..

- Seattle's Defense is VERY GOOD! I know it's preseason but if the Seahawks defense keeps it up, the 49ers may have some competition and the Seahawks may very well out defense the 49ers defense.

- Titans offensively looked better with Jake Locker as the QB and should start in my opinion.

- Russell Wilson showed a ton of promise, throwing wise and using his legs. It also seems it is down to Matt Flynn vs Russell Wilson and if Wilson keeps it up, he could upset the league by beating out Matt Flynn to become the Seahawks' starting QB.

You gotta be careful about what you see during the preseason. Based on last year's preseason everyone thought Colt McCoy was the real deal and Dalton needed more time.

Not saying it means anything. Just saying I expect Rg3's game to go a lot more like Wilson's ie more explosive more bootleg. Instead what I saw was a very conservative vanilla game. Nothing wrong with that, its preseason, but ultimately its very unimpressive. Doesnt mean that RG3 is unimpressive, but the game was.

On another note, Andrew Luck... wow. 1 pass 1 touchdown
[/quote]

Yeah, but it was an ugly little four-foot sidearm dump to the running back who took it to the house. Luck owes that guy a nice present.

Luck does look really poised out there...He moves well in the pocket, has a good arm and seems to be able to look over his reads quickly. Good year so far for the rookie QBs

Is it it funny how that worked, the year they actually sucked because Peyton Manning was hurt it seems they got another good one

Crazier still, remember THEY are the guys who actually drafted Elway in '83 before he forced a trade to Denver. So they got two guys who AT WORST are in the top 10 qbs of all time and a third guy who a lot of people think could join them.

Speaking of preseason games, was this a cheap shot or a clean hit, as Rodgers-Cromartie claims?

I know it's preseason, but I'm happy for Russell Wilson. Nothing against Matt Flynn, but I really want to see Wilson make it, whether it's in Seattle or with another team.

Looks like someone's been taking lessons from Ryan Clark.

Who hits a QB like that? Especially in the preseason?
