I'd still rather have flacco. But Matt Ryan had himself a fine evening.

How was KO and Gino? I passed out early last night was at a funeral and reception. Only saw Turod for a series before I crashed

KO and Oher did decent, most of the pressure on joe came up the middle, through williams and gino. the sent blitzers up the middle and lack of experience on setting the protection seemed to be the issue.

Bear in mind this is coming from a guy that knows nothing about oline play

KO had a rough start, but did very well for a rookie. I was impressed with him.

Gino had some great moments, but he has to work on recognizing blitzes, and calling out protections. He let a linebacker in free on a blitz. I was impressed though. He played well for being a smaller center.

Did KO get snaps at guard? All I've heard about on The Fan was how terrible Williams was and how bad Oher was at LT
i didnt think oher was bad, one play abraham got round him, flacco stepped up went to run and williams got bullrushed back and tripped him as he was running. he didnt let one other pressure from what i recall

KO played exclusively at RT.

The Fan is completely wrong in their assessment. Oher probably had one of the best games among the offensive linemen. I think he'll give McKinnie a run for his money at LT if there actually is a competition.

That surprises me too. They were mainly hitting the A gap between Gino and Williams. Oher only really had the one play where abraham got a good angle on him. But he didn't even give up the sack, he just forced flacco up in the pocket.

That was an ugly pick.
Did you also notice how much the OLBs where dropping back in coverage?

In a playoff situation I would pick Flacco in a heartbeat!
I didn't like that at all. I hope it was just to see where they are in coverage skills and wont be made a habit

It probably is. It's preseason, it's more evaluation than anything. The only real problem was the offense. Hopefully next week we look better.

Thats because its not a good thing to blitz your LBs much incase you show your hand a bit. Better to hold back on that so when you hit them with your blitz packages in the reg season its all unknown.

I was surprised ATL blitzed as much in the first couple of drives actually.

I'm happy our starters all walked away ok. Not too worried about a D playing without Suggs and Ray and I don't think Ed was in more then 2 series. They need to get that line fixed.

I think I only got to see one shot of Oher, and that was when Flacco tripped over Williams. I saw Oher looking like he was about to fold Abraham in half.

The Falcons knew where to attack the line. They did their homework on us, for some reason.... Goes along with my theory that they wanted this game a lot more. I picked up that vibe especially when I saw Flacco slide early on a scramble and still get whacked.

Did anyone who watched the starters see that we were in a base 4-3? That's what it looked like.

Oher looked good from my view. I was surprised by what he did out there. I remember seeing him and wondering if it was actually him. One thing people neglect to remember is that you never heard about Oher. That's a very good thing. The problem with the line was the center and left guard. Everyone else played rather well. I was pleased.

Jacoby really impressed me. Torrey has improved. Boldin looks a little slower or Flacco's timing is off with him. Deonte looks promising and I liked what I saw from Streeter. I am excited about our WRs.

I liked Rainey going into the game and left liking him more. I thought we could stash him on PS, but I can see him make this team. Allen didn't perform well. His stock is down. Berry wasn't overly impressive but I thought he was better than Allen. Need to see what happens with Pierce but RB looks crowded.

Tucker looked really good in the kicking situations he was given. He doesn't seem top have Cundiff's touchback range but perhaps that was by design. Cundiff's kicks weren't very straight. Could be by design but his one kicked seemed to veer left where Tucker's was center.

The inside linebackers were OK. Jameel played pretty well. BA got the INT but he was decent. I think there is a drop off after Lewis even with his age.

The OLBs were OK. I was disappointed with this group the most. There is a huge drop off after Suggs. Kruger was invisible. He needs to work on his anticipation. He ran after guys too much instead of anticipating their path. Kindle looked good, actually. McClellan was OK--a lot like JJ. He needs to work on his anticipation, too. I want to see Upshaw and Kruger play again.

Williams was abused during the game. He looked really rusty. I hope he improves and Jimmy gets healthy quick. I liked Jackson. Gorrer looked good--he was efficient not flashy. Omar Brown impressed me. Webb did a good job and seemed to pick up Cary's slack. Graham looked very good and I am excited about him. Didn't hear from Chykie Brown. I liked Cook during the game. Pollard was a beast.

Sam Koch was the MVP. He really nailed a lot of those punts except the one that hung in the air too long that the one guy returned nearly to the endzone until he tackled him. Thank God Sam can tackle.

As for the TEs they were OK. Bajema is the best of the bunch after Dickson. Ed really irritated me because of his critical drop. He really needs to work on those hands.

And now the QBs. Man and I impressed with Flacco. He really has matured. I hope we sign him soon. I could go on and on but I will leave it at that. As for Taylor, man was he impressive. He is a real hybrid player. He excites me as depth. I feel comfortable with him behind Flacco. Painter also looked really good. Stewart looked really bad, though. I wasn't too impressed with him.

My assessment is we played pretty well despite how it looked. Flacco looks much better than years passed. Better pocket awareness and making quick decisions. i expect big things from him this year. Tyrod Taylor and Curtis Painter both also impressed me.

The O line was up and down, but thats to be expected when you're experimenting. Oher was great on the left side, only the one play with Abraham was the only bad one. Flacco probably would of ran for the first down on that play if it wasn't for Williams. Speaking of Williams, he didn't play great. But imo that's to be expected from a guy playing his first game with a new team. Gino was up and down as well, but to be expected him being a rookie. He'll get better with time. Once Birk is in there, that middle will be sured up imo. I think we may use Gino to spell Birk when needed to keep him fresh this year. Yanda was.....well Yanda lol. KO played well for the most part on the right side. I expect our line to be McKinnie, Williams, Birk, Yanda, and Oher by the time the regular season rolls around. The running game was the worst part of our game, but hopefully that will be sured up.

Dickson looked good, still needs to work on those hands, and so did Bajema.

All the WR looked great imo. Boldin looked like his usual self. Torrey was running great routes and catching everything. Jones was great in this game, just mad Flacco missed him wide open. But that will get fixed with time. I reall hope Thomson makes the roster he impressed as well.

The defense had a rough start especially Cary Williams, but he is coming off that injury and got better as the game went on. I think the defense performed quite well missing all the starters we did. Of course our defense is going to be vanilla in the preseason. Can't show our blitz packages when it doesn't matter. Falcons on the other hand were playing this game like it was a regular season game imo lol.

Overall I was impressed with this games. Any problems we had should be fixed with time or starters being put in. I'm more optimistic about this season that I originally was, and I was pretty optimistic before lol.

Haha forgot about that..

We do a mock offseason thing here where everyone "runs" an organization through free agency, resigning players, the draft etc.

I had the falcons

I disagree about Kruger. He applied some pressure a couple of times and did well against the run.

I don't think anyone's mentioned this but I was actually impressed with the rookie DeAngelo Tyson. I thought he held up well against the run and with some grooming could provide solid depth on the interior defensive line.

I have a lot of concern about our offense. Looking at ATL coming out on O and firing at will on us and then seeing us coming out looking like a pop Warner team. It's scary to see how far behind we are but it's Cam still so it's a given.

I don't think it really helped our offenses self esteem to come out and beat up on backups for a TD drive. Also what do you guys think about not even being able to convert a First Down for the entire first qtr. what if we played their first team d for a whole game? A flash back to the Jac game from last year? No orst downs til the 4th
