1st Game of 2012 Preseason

First pre season game is over and i gotta say that i am glad that we don´t have to talk about draft trades and training anymore. back to football action.

i want to tell you guys what i think about the battle against the falcons.

1. Flacco looked better to me than last year. quick reads and a lot of nice throws. when he overthrew smith in the end zone one could see his cannon of an arm he has. he throws such a nice spiral. just beautiful. we gotta see a lot of great things from him this year.

2. OLine started very slow but got better the longer the game lasts. of course they got only 2nd and 3rd string competition in the second half but i saw a lot of good things. hardwood looked solid and KO was dominant at times.

3. Defense: Cary Williams looked a little rusty. those touchdown should have never happened. but it was against a great receiver and he will get better with more playing time. i was impressed with kindle. he was always around the ball and had some nice tackles. i hope this is gonna be his year. the young corners did also their job. especially asa jackson whom really shined on special teams. great coverage on those two punts...

4. our receiving core. maybe the deepest group with potential we´ve ever had. tompson looked great out there. for me he is a torrey smith clone. our qbs seem to trust him as he was targeted a lot- even when he was covered. had some nice grabs and also scored a TD. way to start a preseason. bolding and torrey looked also in shape. williams did his job as usual. there are gonna be a lot of tough decisions regardarding cuts at this position. i am glad that i don´t have to do that.


all in all a good game to watch. i don´t care about the struggles at the beginning of the game. it was the first preseason game and we will only get better.

i hope we don´t get more injuries during the next three games.

can´t wait the season getting started...

He overthrew Jacoby, not Torrey. I have a feeling that that will resolve itself as Joe gets acclimated to Jones' speed.

It's great to have two outside speed threats and FINALLY be able to slide Boldin to the slot where he can abuse people.

Pass rush and dline looked like crap. They need to get it togethjer quick if they want to win more than 6 games this year.

I was focusing on the O-line production Mike Oher on the Left side not to bad and Osemele doing aright on the right tackle....

D Line wasn't bad, it's just that Ryan got the ball out so fast it didn't matter.

[/quote]havent watched it yet, but id guess, due to experience he has, he would have been helping out the line in the blocking assignments, saying whos blitzing whos not etc. Its normally the centre but some times QBs help out

KO looked like a grown man however, and on one of Anthony Allen runs he blocked his man to the moon.

Its hard to put anything solid on pre season. I bet alot of the Ravens vets treat pre season like the pro bowl... no one wants to get injured before regular season.

I wouldn't put too much stock into this. Ravens and Steelers always need their time to set up their rosters. I guess Philly and Atlanta were all set. But when the regular season comes along, where are they than? Ravens/Steelers will be as tough as it has always been.

You gotta admit, that at least Flaccos execution seemed to have adressed many things, that were criticized about him. A quicker ball release, accuracy and so on. Overthrowing Jacoby still shows that there is some work to be done and yes I do agree, that the play calling was bad, however, what did you expect? They clearly are trying a somewhat different offensive approach out and had only one quarter to play with.
The Falcons basically did, what they always do, but with one new receiver. Just be happy that our receivers looked solid and actually were catching the ball.

Clearly the biggest problems are O-line and defense from punt returns.

The O line really made the offense look bad. Rice couldnt get any production. Pass rush was in not touched through the center. Once that O line is cemented and starts clicking we should be ok. That was the biggest question mark of the off season and it seems it hasnt changed. I really hope they start clicking soon.

We have a lot of work to do, but so does every other team at this point. We didn't have half of our eventual starters on D, so I don't put much stock in their performance.

Sure, the first team O looked pretty awful, but that TD drive was a thing of beauty and a sign of better things to come... Jacoby looked great and really took the top off the D; it's too bad Joe overthrew him (he needs to stop doing that lol)... Torrey is really coming into his own and is going to be a really special player for us this year... Q is Q.

I was also pleased to see Torrey running short routes. This will make him a weapon with the defenders thinking he is all speed.

Pass rush, O-line, secondary,special team and extremely vanilla defense(dean pees). All a major concern. It was good seeing Harbaugh recognzing the issue. Every aspect of our 1st team stunk

tough start but joe rebounded. i wouldn't put much stock into this offensive performance because of the oline shuffling. when we get our best group and we block like that, then i'll be worried. can someone tell me why mckinnie played with the 2nd and 3rd teams but not Flacco. why oher on left side?

You can't das that as our First Team wasn't o. The Field. We didn't Play all our vets. For our First Game it was more than okay. Goal in preseason is to See what your Second and third stringers are able to do. They looked very good to me. Second Goal is not getting injured. Also Check.

He had 1full camp practice. He wont be ready as starter till preseason #3
