The only thing I have to say is I don't think Billy should be cut just because of one kick. Adam Vinatieri missed a kick in the Super Bowl. It was an important miss, but it was only one. Just one kick.

We also paid Billy a heavy contract and he set a touch back record the year before.

It's just one kick. One.

Go ahead and give me negatives lol.

Now if Justin Tucker flat out preforms Billy this pre-season, that's a different story.

I love you! :) it's one kick! Also Cundiff was perfect at home! Right? Also didn't Cundiff help us in the Texans game and the Cardinals game. Without those wins we might not be in the playoffs! Cundiff is part of the family.

If you are a true Ravens fan, you will understand that everyone makes mistakes and no matter who comes out on top of this, either it being Billy Cundiff or Justin Tucker, Billy Cundiff is still a Raven right now. So if you would like to continue to "diss" Cundiff that's fine but just know that if he continues to be our kicker this year, he's our only one, so you'll either have to get used to it or just not be happy with the decision, but how far is that going to get you? Billy Cundiff made not only a mistake, but a pretty important mistake but he also has made a bunch of kicks that have won games for us, so everyone who is still mad at him for that is focusing on the bad. Look how far he's gotten. Cundiff just needs some competition, like a couple years ago with Shayne Graham. I actually met John Harbaugh that year and talked to him about Billy Cundiff. And does no one remember Steve Hauschka? Remember how many times he lost games for us?
Last years season is over and it's now a new season. Starting new. And I think Billy Cundiff deserves a chance to start new also.
Either way, who ever they pick is going to be a Raven and that's it. No one should complain about it if they actually want this team to go far. ----Casey

Usually I am one to support anyone on our team (besides rare cases like Onel Cousins, Frank Walker) but this is Training Camp. This is the time we get to be critical of our roster. This is the time we get to evaluate who we have. And we have the same right as fans (though with no effect).

That being said, if the Ravens decide to keep Cundiff, I'll support him. But this isn't the time where if he misses a kick, we stay behind him. That isn't the case, if he misses a kick, lets see what the next guy can do.

How is it only one kick?

75% - 2011
70% - 2009
76% - career %

Those numbers aren't good. Not to mention that the one kick he missed last year was a big time pressure kick. This combination is not something you can hang your hat (signed one) on.

Family? TC is business time. You have to qualify for the business portion before you are part of the family.

Numbers numbers numbers. Go eat your letter spaghetti O's. He has won games for us! Without him some games we would not even be close to winnIng. Besides why is it always one guy fault!? Special teams was not good at all last year. He isint the first kicker to miss a playoff kick.

That Tucker kid is ranked no where! What Cundiff has done in Baltimore is better than what he has done his entire career. Tucker we can keep on the practice squad. Cundiff does better with competition anyway.

Lol. He clearly doesn't. Well, unless you consider it an improvement that he seems to miss a FG a day. Tucker has missed fewer field goals than Cundiff. A lot fewer.

The reason I like Cundiff so much is because he inspires me. I'm a young guy and Cundiff is one of my favorite players on this team. I feel that he needs to stay for what he has done for us besides that one kick. He won us games. He done a lot in Baltimore. He is amazing at home. My favorite memory of him is when he kicked that game winning OT field goals against the Steelers. I hate the Steelers! That's when I really liked him. Also he signed my hat through mail. He also sent me other Ravens stuff with that. He is my hero to me. I will stand by him. Forever. I just feel he is part of our Ravens organization. The players stand by him. I stand by him. Humans make mistakes. Even Stover made mistakes. At least we got in the playoffs. We could be the Redskins. We should be happy about our team instead of trashing them.

1 good season in 9 years. Now I see why he was cut from 8 teams.

If I'm not mistaken, the guy's daughter was in the hospital and really sick at the time. I'm not going to fault a guy for missing with that hanging over his head. Akers has a long long track record of being a great kicker in this league, Cundiff had one good year with 8 bad to mediocre ones. The situations are not comparable.
[/quote]

Ah my mistake, didn't know that.

Go run and google now.

That's simply a category mistake. How do you criticize a player for not being ranked when he hasn't even officially played a professional game his entire life. It's like asking what the color blue smells like. You can't point out the fact that Tucker isn't ranked when he isn't the kind of player than can even be ranked yet; that's just silly. Besides, he was brought in for competition. For one, in my opinion, its wrong to put the idea that a position in the NFL is up for grabs when, truthfully, you're just exploiting the kid to get Billy on track. It just seems wrong to go with Cundiff, who has failed us in the MOST CRITICAL HOUR, when Tucker has outperformed him this offseason (so far). If he continues to do so, I find it categorically wrong to go with Billy out of some "Good ole' boy" mentality. You go with the best option in order to win, period! Right now, that seems to be Tucker.

Don't be surprised if Cundiff or Tucker start messing up we don't sign someone else to be our kicker. There are about 5 teams with some great kicking battles going on (Jets, Saints, Redskins, Panthers, Chargers). There will be some others teams having to make very tough cuts of decent kickers. Just something to think about.

There's no telling how a rookie K would do in a pressure situation given he only played in one pre-season game. Cundiff can be blamed for the loss in NE, but if you think about it how many other K's out there given his experience in the playoffs have been called on to do what he was SUPPOSED to do.
I do like the kid, but man that dagger dug deep into my soul. I will forever hold that grudge against him.

If Tucker can make all the same kicks as Billy, why would we keep an older player with a 2 mil salary?

I think both sides agree that we wish there were more chances for field goals last night.

True. But remember, we still have three preseason games for Tucker and Cundiff to prove my point. :D

Yeah Harbaugh needs to cut it loose and make these guys kick 50+ yarders so he can get a good idea who got the edge. Everyone knows Cundiff has trouble from the 50+ yards.

Final kick was a rush job. Never missed that year in the 4th quarter.

Poor Billy. Cundiff you need to step up before your cut buddy. I'll miss you. :'(
