He's been there since the beginning of the season, and all of those events did take place.  They were just manifested into a neighborhood scene instead of a jail scene.  Ray was probably some sort of prison guard, counselor, or someone in a position of authority in the prison.

Now the question is why he's in jail.  Mr. Robot told Elliott earlier in the episode that Elliott did in fact shoot Tyrell, but he's too big of a character to have an off screen death.

Yea when the group of the white guys came up to Elliot at the bball court that's when I figured he was in prison, I just cant figure out why he is there.  So the hack and everything took place, but sometime after that he got locked up, may have to go watch all of it again.  Also, I agree I don't think Tyrell would of been killed without showing it.  Maybe he turned Elliot in? I seem kind of lost this season.  [spoiler/]

One theory that seems to be going around right now is the hack of Krista's (his therapist) boyfriend.  That was a plotline last season that seemed to get lost in the shuffle, but became a bit more central at the end of the season.  It's minor, and probably explains why he's seemingly being released after only a few months.

I will say, it has been a disjointed season, but I think this reveal showcases why they opted to go that way.  Without Elliott in the picture, Darlene is running things and she may not necessarily be as good of a leader as Elliott/Mr. Robot.  I at least see the vision behind the story choices.

The only storyline that I'm completely lost on right now is Joanna.  I have 0 idea where they're going with her or what the tie in to everyone else is.

Anybody remembers those old 60s shows? Those shows take out of reality. Like an Martian from mars, A talking horse, Members from an P.O.W prison camp. A flying nun, A girl who pops out of a bottle gives her master whatever he wants, 7 castaways stranded on an island and an secret agent who talks out of his shoe. I remember those old 60s shows

This is getting really interesting, he is playing into the persona hes being accused of.  He is starting to see how things work in prison.  Whats your opinion on whats going to happen, the more that gets revealed about him, the more questions.  I still dont think he did it.  I cant say what i want because i dont know how to do the spoiler tab.

My guess, the step dad paid "Bodie's" friend to kill her.

There's only one more episode of The Night Of and I feel like the plot hasn't moved for the past 2 or 3 episodes. I have no idea how they expect to wrap everything up in a one hour episode.

I dont think it will be hard to conclude the series with one episode.  I think we are seeing more and more of series finishing leaving facts unknown while there are many questions, Stranger Things come to mind, all the the word conclude might not be correct.  I think they are just painting a picture of how anyone, no matter how harmless they appear has something, anything in their past that could be viewed differently and make it question your original thoughts of the accused.  At the beginning we viewed Naz as a very smart, sheltered, innocent guy...now we see that he doesnt appear innocent, but does that mean he would brutally murder someone.

Side-note, i just binge watched The Newsroom.  Such a fantastic show, Sorkin is a great writer.  I really developed a lot of connections to this show, as Will and Mac are strikingly similar to me and an ex-gf.  So many great episodes ....

Finally caught up on The Night Of...

I'm not really sure how this is going to play out.  I've long expected plenty of things to go unanswered, because the main point of the story is the criminal justice system, and not the actual murder.

Although I'm still not over to the "Naz did it" side, I do think they introduced his past brilliantly.  At the beginning, I don't think anyone had any belief that he actually did it.  Even though I haven't moved over all the way, there now is a small part that thinks it's possible that he actually did do it.

In the latest episode, I do think the court proceedings were overdone a bit.  I'm not a lawyer and I've never even considered it, but I was pretty much wanting to scream objection to my TV screen.  There were so many baited and irrelevant questions that would have been thrown out in a real court room.

Basically agree.   Overall a good show,  let's hope they don't ruin it with a terrible finale

I do think it's a bit overrated as far as the writing goes, but I think the overall storyline and acting keep it together and make it good.

I so have that feeling that they are trying too hard.   The guy who play Naz Is a great actor,  he sold the part to The tee so far.

Kind of my impression.  It's still a good show of course, but I think they tried a little too hard to reach levels of some great miniseries.  Ahmed and Turturro have carried this show.

ok here's my predictions for Night of finale. Most of which I thought about 4 episodes in. Naz is found not guilty in court. But we never find out for sure who did the murder. They leave it open ended. In a tragic twist he is caught doing an actual murder. He's manipulated into doing it for Freddy.

[\spoiler]

Mr. Robot pulled off an episode without Elliott even appearing, and it was probably their best episode of the season.  Darlene is a thug.

How do you add the "hidden contents" option?

Who watches educational shows? I do. Like who saw Treasure Quest: Snake Island? I find that show interesting. People hunting for gold with an Island full of snakes. Thats like watching Shark Week all about sharks on discovery channel.

On the subject of educational shows, I really liked a show called "Living Abroad." It featured American families that had to adjust to living in foreign countries.

They encountered things like vending machines in Japan that sold stuff like toilet paper, forty dollar bowls of mac-and-cheese in Switzerland, and apartment rentals that required medical check-ups in Paris.

I usually just watch tv shows in French to make them educational. Sometimes I watch French documentaries for "extra credit." So to speak.

FX is looking like it's going to have more strong comedies this fall.

They have Atlanta by Donald Glover about the rap scene in ATL. I love Glover so that's an obvious watch for me.

They also have Better Things by Louis CK and Pamela Adlon. It looks like another Louie, which isn't a bad thing.

Finale of the night of didn't disappoint. Mad I forgot about the actual murderer as I thought he was very suspicious when he was first introduced.

Finale of The Night Of was great.

It leaves a bunch of question marks but that's always what I expected from this show.

Is the financial advisor the real murderer?  Who knows?  I think the show was genius in that they put us in the same exact situation that Box was in way back in the beginning of the series.  There's a mountain of evidence against a guy, and we automatically assume he's the killer.  Although I do believe the advisor did it, I applaud what they did to bring the audience into the world.  It proves that we really live in a guilty until proven innocent world.

I liked the overall (what I assume to be) realism portrayed after Naz's release as well.  His mom still believed he did it, and Naz knows it, and that family dynamic is now broken.  Naz comes out as a changed man from when he first entered.  Prison and the justice system has turned him into a criminal, at least more than he was before the murder.

And I'm just glad the cat seemingly has a home until Stone no longer wants it again.
