Open Practice at M&T August 4

Anyone going to the stadium for the open practice today? This weather is causing me some concern. It's so hazy, hot, and humid, that I can't imagine that we won't have thunderstorms.

Could some good samaritan take a couple photos or even a video and post them here for us unable to attend? It'd be much appreciated :).

Last year there were 22,000 fans that showed up for the only open practice last year. Parking in stadium lots is $10 unlike last year when it was free and caused massive traffic jams. I predict there will be at least 25,000 fans this year. Also if you go to the one in Annapolis, better get there early to get a parking spot as they are have not done prepaid parking at navysports.com, yet.

Don't worry, I'm on it.

I'll be there. Heat/no heat, rain/no rain.

Wish I could go. But you guys are the best at giving detailed reports. There should even be a separate thread for fan reports only.

Well, we could use this one. In fact, this whole forum is available for training camp reports.

Has anyone heard if any of the radio stations will be broadcasting from the practice?
I believe WBAL is doing it. Here's the link: http://www.wbal.com/listen/player

I used TuneIn on my iPhone and the broadcast came in great. Sadly, though the interviews were interesting, they didn't tell us a whole lot about what was going on. I did hear Flacco to Jones for a TD and Flacco to Boldin for a TD, though. They said it was about 105 on the field and real humid. I'm glad the storms held off.

It sounded like the crowd was having a good time.

Main thing that stood out is that our TE's had a terrible day. Kruger looked good.
I heard Dickson got hurt early and never returned, so that's no surprise.

Drew had a terrible day. The other guys weren't so bad.

Yes, thank you very much. Too bad the Orioles broadcasts are blacked out. I really hoped to listen at work. Radio reception in my building is horrible. At least I still have ScoreCenter.

At at time when they could have stood our with our top 2 TEs out.. They didn't. Yeah, Drew had a horrible day and the other TEs dropped a pass or 2 as well.

Bajema did have an incredible Catch in the Endzone surrounded by three defenders. That was probably the TE highlight of the day.

Drew did have that one nice awareness catch off the deflection early on, but yeah, he and the rest of the TEs didn't take advantage of their opportunity. However, Anthony Allen and Bobby Rainey did take advantage of theirs. Especially Rainey. The RB competition is going to be close.

I was little suprised how much down time and lack of contact there was for players. Could someone with more knowledge enlighten me? Are some practices more physical than others/more intense conditioning wise? Thanks

Since it was at the bank I doubt it was a give it 100 kinda practice. The main focus of that practice was to get the new guys as close to a feel of the stadium etc as possible.

I wasn't there but that would be my guess. Besides, training camp is more about execution/ attention to detail and learning what players will fill certain roles on the team for you. Position battles are a big part of training camp also

If you aren't in shape by training camp and you're fighting for a roster spot, forget about your chances.

During my high school career, some practices were a lot more physical than others. Some days we were killing each other and other days we were getting ripped apart by our coaches for not killing each other. Not all practices are going to be that physical. If every practice was like that the team wouldn't make it through camp, ya know? After a week of violent, physical practices, it's very possible that the practice at the bank was not one of those violent practices. When camp was still held at McDaniel, I went to a few of their practices. While there was a good bit of downtime, the practices were pretty intense and fast paced.

As for conditioning, they don't do much conditioning during the practice itself. However, I believe that the players have their workouts before or after practice which helps their conditioning. I'm not entirely sure of that though.

We are goin to the practice today. Any idea how many fans are expected?

It ended up being 20,354. It was super hot this year too! I thought the thunderstorms would show up but they didn't.
