Just saw this and in the spirit of the coming holiday I thought I'd share this with everyone.

There is also another one that talks about different things that players fear so I'll add that one too:

Ray should be number 1. He's been recking havoc longer then most of them. Outside of the top 5, I dont really agree with the rest of that list. Bob Sanders is a hard hitter but I dont think he strikes fear in anyone's heart.

Haynesworth got manhandled by the Colts OL. If he is so great then why is he only doing it to teams that have a losing record?

Titans vs Ravens - Haynes who? He was barely or not even a factor for the game.

Titans vs Colts - Sure the Colts are 3-3 but he did jack SHIZZLE.

For some reason his talent at being "so called" the best DT is only against teams who arent that good.

Bah, at least they respect Ray Lewis, even though he deserves the #1 spot and actually is the most feared NFL player.

Haynesworth is a beast, I think you'd be singing a different tune if he was a Raven. He is constantly doubled and tripled, remember he was missing KVB in that Monday Night Game but still hit Manning a few times.

Yea a lot of people would be saying something else if he was a Raven.
1 thing though he doesnt have over Ray and never will.

The CONSISTENCY Ray Lewis has played with during his entire career in the NFL.

edit - Ray Lewis can strike fear into any player thats either finished playing against him, playing against him & going to play against him.

I got into an argument on the ESPN comment section of that article with a steelers fan who was insisting that Ray Lewis's hit on Mendenhall was a cheap shot. She tried to say he intentionally hit him. Hahahaha. I said, "Oh, well excuse me! I was under the impression that a defender is supposed to hit the ball carrier. I must be mistaken!" She shut up after that.

LoL. What a retarded fan.

I guess defenders are supposed to 2 hand touch the person who has the ball instead of intentionally hit them.

If a man can scare rookies and younger players just by getting into their heads with a freaking PRE-GAME INTRODUCTION, then he has to be number 1.

Like most veterans say, you never underestimate the mental aspect of the game. Ray Lewis has a phD in on-field psychology, and he knows how to intimidate opposing players even in their own home stadium.

As for physicality -- a man that injures another man on a clean, indisputably legal hit, has to be feared, even at the age of 33. And there's a reason why opposing QBs rarely heave passes down the middle for their receivers to chase -- there's a big, purple STOP sign, marked #52, waiting to prove that the laws of physics apply to ANY moving object, no matter how big or small.

If Ray Lewis doesn't get into your head, he'll run right through it instead.

Dont forget that Ray Lewis defies inertia.

Strahan hated him!
I'd actually heard recently that they're good friends. To hear Stahan talk about it is funny.., "I OWN Runyan...just ask him . He knows."

Ray didn't hit him that hard. Mendy ran right to Ray and I don't think Ray even took a step, just kinda popped him. Definitely not dirty. I just didn't like his comments afterwards.

Yea. a lot of fans dont like Rays comments after.

Its not unusual to see him say that stuff if your a Ravens fan though. It has happened a lot afterall.

We never used to like Joey Porter's comments afterwards, neither. Not now as a Dolphin, and especially not when he was a Steeler.

So, all's fair. ;)

Well, I didn't like Suggs' comments either until I actually heard the interview. He was led into that BS (which is another reason why I loathe the media). That said, I didn't hear Ray say the words himself so I'm not losing any sleep over it. Life goes on...

I hear ya! I know and understand why fans hated Peezy. I can't argue with many of them over their feelings for him, but I loved that guy! Still do. I have only 2 Steelers jerseys hanging in my Game room so far; Joey Porter's #55 and Greg Lloyd's #95. Loved thier attitude. :D

I absolutely hate Joey Porter, but we have a guy similar to him Bart Scott, so I can understand why some people hate him too. Although Porter is a great pass rusher and very physical player, I couldn't stand him. Especially at that game in Baltimore when heap had to limp up to the line with under 2 minutes and no time outs left and we spiked the ball and Porter decked him for a personal foul. that made me absolutely despise him.

I'd fear someone who had the potential to break my shoulders if I ran at him too. I'm surprised Justin Tuck made it, I was expecting Brian Dawkins or Keith Bulluck but I guess ESPN didn't want more than 1 from a team.

The Heap thing was tough. I like Todd Heap. I understand both sides here, but I also don't think many people blamed Joey. He made a great point: "What if he was playing possum?" It's been done. From fake spikes for TDs to fake injuries to save a timeout or get a breather in a two minute drill, etc.. For the record, I cringed when he did it, but I don't blame him. Just cringed.

I mean yea i understand that side of it, but no matter who it is if one of your players got hit like that you would get pissed too. Regardless of it was legal or not, you just don't like seeing one of your players who is ACTUALLY injured get thrown down like that. That's almost like I don't understand when Haynesworth ran through the line on a false start blown dead and threw Flacco to the ground how he didn't get a flag.

Didn't see the Haynesworth/Flacco play. Steelers and Ravens aside, I just felt bad for Todd Heap. I don't think he even held it against Joey Porter though.

Basically during the Titans/Ravens game this year, we snapped the ball and it was a false start that was blown dead. Haynesworth came barreling by Jason Brown and grabbed Flacco and they fell to the ground together. I didn't understand why it wasn't a personal foul and the stadium went nuts haha.

forget the steelers... RAY is the scariest guy on the field... NO one in the nfl brings more emotion then this guy.... Getting hit from a big guy is not the same from getting hit from a big guy that break you down mentally as well.. Seriously if i was a RB, i would be scared for my life regardless of who's on the other side.. these guys are like 200 lbs (around that range) running into like almost 300 lb linemen or like 250 lb lineback full speed :o

got to put Ray at number one. He may have lost a step but he is still the greatest. I have said this for many years and it still rings true. Ray Lewis make you gameplan against him and you still won't stop him. He affects the game on his side of the ball just as much as any offensive player in the league.. Come game day that man is a Deamon.

I'd fear Shaun Rodgers at feeding time. Not so much during a game.

Ray may have "lost a step" but I dont see how its affected him much. Ray is STILL there.. every play.. he's STILL on the sidelines playing on feild coach.. I think ray should be first. He plays with such INTENSITY.. the man lives & breathes football. ON AND OFF THE FEILD.
