What Interception In Your Memory Has Been The Greatest!

38 posts in this topic

In my mind I can still remember it vividly. It was a Sunday evening and I was getting ready to find out where all my friends were going to watch the Pitch Black Game(1st time Raven's wear all black) vs Browns. At around 6:30 I get a call from one of my co-worker who knows how big a Raven's fan I am to let me know that someone on the job had 2 tickets for sale face value. I got in touch with the person selling the ticket's and proceeded to go pick up the ticket's with one of my friends. We did not even know where we would be sitting, we just wanted to go to the game. We pick up the ticket's and see that we will be sitting in Sec 109 Row 5 in the end zone. Here we witnessed a great game and I think we also witnessed the Greatest Raven's Interception ever right before our eye's. #20 Ed Reed from the end zone ending a possible scoring drive for the Brown's, at the time it was a record breaking return. All for $48.00 per ticket in 2004.

THE GREATEST!! :D

I think the most impressive one was the one Reed had against the Jets. To start with, it was longer than the longest one ever. Which makes it a pretty cool interception in my eyes.
Also, he was brave to take it out of the endzone. Ray and Coach Billick were telling him to take a knee but he went for it anyway. The 106 one, his momentum took him out of the endzone anyway, and that one he just burned everyone on the field. The one against the Jets he threw some moves in there and evaded a bunch of tacklers.

It wasn't an interception but one of my favorites was when C-mac caught the long field goal attempt and Ray crushed that guy on a block and McCalister took it to the house! (Ed reed always has the best int returns)

I like the first one Ngata had. I cant remember who it was against but he went rumbling up the sideline.

I was in sec 512 and had a perfect view of that interception. AWESOME!!! It was a record for the longest TD play, which was broken last year, but it is still the longest INT returned for a TD.

ding ding ding!

we didn't just take the ball, we took their entire season away from one of our most hated rivals. that's what that moment meant to me.

Duante Starks pick 6 on Collins in the SB, pretty much sent a message to the rest of the world.

Yeah that was in 2006 the first game of the season for the Raven's that game was great we were sitting in the end zone under the boat in Row 9. They shot beads and t-shirts all over the place with those canon's but since we were giving the Buc's and major beat down they would not shot anything our way. It was all good, we were happy with the shut out! :D

I have to agree!! That INT sent us to the AFC Championship Game, which was almost a Letdown after beating Tennessee!! Like Jeff Fischer has said, "The two best teams in the league just met too early in those PlayOffs!

I know you and I have mentioned that interception before haha. While Ed Reed's against the Browns in my favorite because I was there and it was absolutely electrifying, I will never forget big Haloti getting that ALMOST pick 6 against the Bucs. I was there and it was my first, and so far only, away game, so that will always be a great memory for me seeing him have to get oxygen on the sideline haha. The defense was lights out that day, it was probably my favorite defensive performance other than the super bowl. To go into someone else's house and get all those sacks, batted passes, interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and a 27-0 shutout? priceless

As much as I love Ed Reed making the longest INT for a TD.

Im gonna have to go with the one where we straight stab the Titans in the heart.

and then

After we stabbed them in the heart. We slowly pulled the knife down towards their stomach.

I bet a lot of Titan fans had that feeling when

1. Ray Lewis stole the ball right out of Eddie Georges hands

&

2. He returned it for a.....................................TOUCH DOWN!!!!.

Seriously though. Thats gotta be the worse feeling a fan has ever had. Even worse then us losing to the Browns from that field goal that got replayed.

Only problem with that one was that it was called back for an illegal block in the back by Demps.

Although Boller tossed a TD to Clarence Moore a few snaps later, so it worked out OK.

Yea but Demps still screwed Ed Reed out of an INT for a TD.

He was looking at Ed Reed for too long instead of looking around to see if anyone was coming from his right side.

No awareness.

I remember that one. He picked off Lamont Jordan. And Demps took out the QB. Like Reed wouldnt have beat the QB. <_<

I agree - Hands-down Ray's was the best, followed closely by Ngata's pick

I was looking up stats cuz i thought someone had broke ed reeds INT record, but it says he still has it at 106yds. I think at the time it was also the longest play ever but that record was broken on a FG returned for a TD in the past year or two.

But as i was looking at the records, one really stood out to me...

Longest Punt, 98 yd, Steve O'Neal, New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos, Sept. 21, 1969

A 98yd punt!! must got a good roll and stopped it before it got into the endzone!

here are some others:
Longest Play, 109 yards, Antonio Cromartie, missed field goal return, San Diego Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings, Nov. 4, 2007

Longest Play without a Score, 100 yards, Champ Bailey, Interception returned to 1 yd line then tackled out of bounds, Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots, January 14, 2006

Blocked Punts Returned for TDs, Career, 3, Ed Reed, 2002-present

And unless I'm mistaken, Cromartie beat the previous record set by our own Chris McAlister in the 2002 home Monday night game against the Broncos (108 yards, I think). Ray set him up with perhaps the best block I've ever seen.

Yeah it was C-mac. I think it was 107 though. And, unless they extend the endzone (which isn't out of the question, given the league's desire for higher scoring), I don't see Cromartie's Record being beaten, his heels were so close to the paint.

He also had one in the probowl, which was the only one ever.
He is also the first person in NFL history to return an interception, punt, blocked punt, and fumble for a touchdown. That's pretty cool.
