Honestly, All I know is that this guy was undrafted in 2004.. played with the Cowboys, ..had 7 receptions for 84 yards.. I also heard before that he was on special teams..He totaled 11 special teams tackles and added 16 kickoff returns for 307 yards.. His last "stint" was with the N.O saints.. started his first game in 2006. He finished the season with 23 receptions for 385 yards and 3 td's..

No doubt we need another GOOD WR.. is he it?

our young talents will have some action on the field but not that much in this year so i think it was a good decision to sign him for 3rd reciever

knowing little about him its really hard to say.. i dont see him doing much for us against the browns or even the texans though.. flacco is gunna need some time to warm up to him and he'll have to earn the QB's trust.. hopefully he's capable of that..

I think it was good to sign him because he was a veteran, but I don't think he will bring much. it sounds exciting to bring in another reciever, but on paper, I would rather stick with Marcus Smith or Ernie. But, Ray Rice is an excellent wideout ;)

I think he has to earn the coachs' trust - to get into the game. If he's open and Flacco sees him, he'll throw to him.

But, like you, I don't know much about the guy. Hope it works out!

I think we will be seeing our young talent first. Copper was signed to add depth. But I'm sure the coaches will determine what route we will be taking with our reciever core. I guess we will continue to see a healthy dose of two WR sets, as dissapointing as that sounds.

Idk.. Heap has been open ALOT this year and I've seen flacco take sacks instead of throw to him.. I know thats more about checking down your receivers though.. hopefully we'll see flacco get better with that too..

Yeah, I think it's just that he doesn't see him or doesn't think, from his angle, that he's open. Flacco still has to grow in the position and noticing receivers is a big step that I don't think he's mastered, yet. I have confidence that he will, though.

im hoping the guy turns out to be a diamond in the ruff. i think if hes a solid rec. then throw the ball his way and see what he can do. but he does have to earn his way into the game.

Marcus Smith hasnt done much to impress me from what I saw in the pre season. He had many drops in the vikings game if I recall correctly, and I dont know, just not impressive speed, or body posistioning.

Copper should be solid, I think he can be productive if given a chance, nothing special, but usable

Copper was picked up mostly for his Special Teams abilities, he just also happens to play receiver. I think this is a version of BPA, that the Ravens use in the draft. I would not expect to see him on Offense for a while, as he needs to learn a whole new one, but you'll probably see him on Special Teams this week! He's another return specialist and also makes a ton of Special Teams Tackles.

ST players is always a plus in my book the more depth we have the better. i still think that he may turn out to be a diamond in the rough as long as he has solid hands then theres another go to rec.

Not crazy about the signing. Copper is a cast-off from several previous teams, Dallas and New Orleans come to mind right off the bat. He's never shown enough potential. I was dismayed that we didn't go after Roy Williams when the Lions inexplicably offered him up. That's one thing we've needed for YEARS  ! A big, naturally skilled WR who can stretch the field and catch jump balls in the end zone!

Like others have posted here, I would rather see the younger guys move up in the depth chart and see what they can do. Aside from Mason, we've got no real threats at WR. Even then, Derek is our possession guy, not our speedster.

Being only 6" I don't think he was picked up as a BIG PLAY guy, as Gwaihir mentioned I think he is mostly for special teams help. I think it was to help add depth for Ayanbadejo he is a little banged up. BTW w/e happend to Osemi (sp)

By "offered" him up you mean asking for half of the teams draft class to have him? The Cowboys gave up a 1st, 3rd, and a 6th for him! He's good but he's not THAT good.

yea i dont think we should have wasted that many draft picks for him. i think that we need to give the guy a chance before we start bashing him.

It probably wont make much of a difference. Williams wasnt a major factor in our offense anyway. Most of his catches this season had come in garbage time vs. the Colts.

I think we'll see cooper more in the special teams area.. @ least these next coming weeks until cam gets used to him and realizes his strong and weak points.

Yep, hes never been very reliable anyway. Everyone will remember the 70 yard catch and run for a td, but, it was a blown coverage, not like he beat his guy, so I'm not sure how much he had actually progressed to that point.

Maybe it was the injury but he's not that fast either. No Raider was in 20 yards of him but one of their safeties was able to close the gap and got close enough to him to take him down.

I don't have much opinion of Cooper but if Cam thinks he could be ready quicker then our rookies I can't see the harm in giving him a chance. I don't think anyone is saying he's a great wr. I'd have to believe they want him more to keep Ray Rice or Jim Leonard out of harms way on return duties. Or at very least so Lenny doesn't have to sack/make a big D play and then run down the field to receive. Figurs isn't healthy and wasn't doing much when he was so this could be a replacement for him.
