Well that's what they have to offer Mike on a RFA Tender. The Steelers aren't offering it, that was set by the CBA so the Steelers had nothing to do with the offer or even setting the price. That was a message to Wallace, also we are talking about it in the Free Agency Thread...

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers will NOT be giving a long term deal to Mike Wallace after committing $42.5 to Antonio Brown.

The Steelers are smart, Wallace is overrated. Don't get wrong he's a beast, but not top or second tier in the WR department.

The Steelers are not taking BS from their players. They ditched Santonio for a 5th rounder as an example and now they're signing Brown as an example of what they want out of players. They play hardball and aren't going to give in to Wallace's demands. He'll be traded or released before they break the bank on him.

I could very well see him traded now. Don't think it will happen, but wouldn't surprise me.

I can too and very well, while he was worth a first rounder, I think some team can get him for a 3rd or a 4th, and that is just going off getting rid of Santonio for a 5th.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better receiver for running the 9 route though. He's one of the best, if not the best, at what he does, but his game isn't rounded.

Desean Jackson comes to mind. In a year maybe even Torrey Smith. I just wouldn't sign someone who relys on their speed long term.

Problem is those type of guys are easy to find. Desean Jackson, Steve smith, and our own Torrey Smith can do what Wallace does. He can't block to save his life, which leads me to believe that Haley will absolutely hate Mike in the new offense he's trying to run. He just isn't what Pitt wants at receiver.

For a few years though, he'd be great in a Cam Cameron offense. Kind of like if we'd snagged Lee Evans 3-4 years ago, IMO. Not that I'd go after Wallace now, because I think we have a glut of talent at the receiver position (first time in 16 years I can remember thinking that), but I think what we do here makes us one of the few situations where Wallace's abilities could be maximized.

rumor has it that they might dangle him for a while, gauging interest and whose interested in his services. (via Trade bait) ... if it is true, not sure how many teams would be interested.....there will be at least a few but due to his asking price and compensation that the steelers may want for him, may not be what most teams would be willing to give up. my guess is that based on that, he'll stay in Pittsburgh ...at least for now

Antonio Brown is a more polished receiver overall, even if he doesnt have Wallace's speed. He was Ben's go to guy for much of last year. Ill bet they were offering Wallace the exact same deal and he wanted more so they hooked up Brown instead. It's hard to imagine Wallace will be a Steeler next year with their cap situation.

Yeah I just saw it on Rotoworld. I think there would be a team that most certainly would call them and see what it would take to get him. They gave away Santonio for just a 5th because he was a headache, so while I don't think he'll be given away for a 5th, I can see a Conditional 4th that can go as high as a second round pick.

Cowboys would be a good place as if they are tired of Dez Bryant's off the field issues, and if they can get him at a good price, I can see them pulling the trigger for a trade. They could trade him to Seattle or the Rams as a "see what you had" type of deal where they know he will fall off due to the quarterbacks in those divisions.

If we had the cap I would be all over him.
You be the only one, he is a one trick pony who believes he is worth Larry Fitzgerald money and no team is going to give him that much money.

Except Q and Torrey run block extremely well, if that's a weak point in Wallace's game why take him? Torrey already fills that speedster role, and his underneath route running improved as the season went on.

All he does is run 9's. Lardarius said it himself that Antonio Brown is the Steelers' biggest receiving threat. There is a reason we put Webb on Brown and not Wallace.

So you guys think Mike Wallace shows up at all and does he get traded?
Hines Ward went through the exact same thing with the Steelers years ago: He waited 15 days into camp before he finally showed up. Lynn Swann went through a similar situation. I'd say if Wallace doesn't show up by the 2nd "pre-season" game I think his chances of remaining a Steeler drop below 50%.

In addition, he's doing this 'against' the advice of his agent. So if Wallace is planning on negotiating this out by himself, he'd BETTER do his homework...

If Haley has anything to do with it, there could be problems as well. As you can see from the pic below, it seems to be no non-sense, business only with this guy. Especially since he was fired from his last job and now has to make a come back on the rebound to make the point that he's still worthy. A change as different as night and day from the always chuckling, "jolly" Bruce Arians... lol.

Ben looks in shape---didnt Wallace mouth off about stuff in the press along with Mendenhall?
Read on Rotoworld that they are going back to being a run first team and are running the ball more so passing.

I have no clue lol. Haley looks mad at Ben.

Back to the topic of Mike Wallace... Steelers GM has come out and said Mike Wallace is not available for trade.

http://rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/236589/steelers-gm-wallace-not-available-for-trade

Well I don't believe anything after Andy Reid said McNabb would be the Eagles QB and turned around and traded him. I'll believe that Wallace isn't available for trade when Wallace plays the whole year with the Steelers.
