Ray Lewis Statue

I think that emulating what the Orioles are doing with their legendary players is a pretty good idea, but the players we pick need to be truly legendary. Otherwise, it loses its significance.

If it were upto me, I would petition that his statue be erected at the NFL Headquarters as well as every team stadium in the NFL! That is the kind of positive impact this man has had on the NFL... but, I will accept a large statue of Ray Lewis at M&T Bank stadium for starters!
Couldnt be more right about the last part. Put up too many it takes away meaning.

Does anyone think the football HOF is losing a wee bit of significance? I kind of think they let too many people in and should raise the "limits"

I can agree with this, but also feel they have missed on a quite a few as well. Cris Carter? No?
Def is people who should be in over other people no doubt, maybe if they got them right, ie had carter in instead of someone less deserving there wouldnt be this problem.

But then again, a lot of the ones going in recently im too young to have seen play and really comment on. And of course the way the game has evolved you cant really look at older players stats and say yes he was great player or no he doesnt deserve to be in there because great stats back then wouldnt even be pro bowl worthy now.

I just look at some names and think thats a not name i hear people talk about as one of the all time greats, and really i think it should be the elite of the elite, the ultimate best. Ray lewis yes, brian Urlacher while being one of the best MLB of this era throughout his career may be worthy by the standards set, but to me, he shouldnt be in there amongst players like lewis.

Thats just an example to get my point across, there is people in the HOF like Marino, and others that couldnt even hold his jock, yet there are in there, standing shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Marino etc.

Does anyone else think that not only should he get a statue, but that it should replace Untias's statue, front and center, at the main entrance to the stadium?

Not saying they should get rid of the Unitas statue, but just to move it somewhere else around the stadium, as M&T Bank Stadium(or whatever it's called years from now...) always has, and always will, belong to Ray Lewis.

And I don't think the Ravens need to start making statues of everyone like the Orioles are doing. It's Ray Lewis, and Ray Lewis only.

If we're gonna put up statues, I think they should at least wait until that player is in the Hall of Fame.
Ray Lewis is already in the HOF. You just don't know it yet.

Agree that it should be Ray and Ray ONLY. I hate baseball anyway, but its just stupid a hell that there are like 7 statues out front of Camden yards. They have as many statues as each games attendance, ha!

Although if there ever was a kicker that deserved one, it's Stove. In 2000 he by himself scored over 1/3 of our points, including ALL of the points against Cleveland one game, all but 7 points against Oakland in the AFCCG, half our points against Arizona, etc.

In regards to a Ray statue, hope it doesn't happen for at least 4 years, because that means Ray will play another 3. But right now IMO Ray and JO are the two that should be considered for statues, since they are the two HOFers that helped lead us to a title.
Only if he stayed in B-more. Instead he went to colts and killed us on playoffs. Ring of honor was enough for him. Putting a statue next to unitas & ray would irk me alot.

They're actually behind center field IN the stadium unless you're talking about the big silver numbers which don't really count as statues. And all those players are Orioles legends who deserve the honor IMO.

Eh, I guess its just my overall hatred for all things baseball that evoked my post.

I'd hardly count the numbers as statues. There's one of Babe Ruth out front. The ones they're unveiling this season are for the greatest Orioles who ever lived, and they more than deserve it.

I think it should just be
Lewis-Stover-Ogden.

They are all Raven legends........
eventually Flacco. ^_^

All good man, rip away! I've given baseball players and that sport a hard time for 30 years. The game just doesnt do it for me...

BUT, on topic, yes Ray deserves a statue and it better be of him doing his last pose of his pre-game deal!

I'm not a baseball player myself. I like baseball but I could never get seriously into it. It's too slow paced and not enough contact. My dad and brother are addicts though!

That idea for his statue would be perfect.

All the great Baltimore sports legends eventually get a statue or a street named after them...Ray already has a street name....I'm sure he could have a statue...or they may just put him in the ring of honor and leave it at that...

no doubt he's worthy of a statue

Its all good man...not everyone can play lacrosse. Its one of the more specialized sports where you can't just pick up a stick and play. (whereas, for the most part, anyone athletic can throw a football, hit a baseball (to some extent), kick a soccer ball etc) :) :) :)

lol, I loved playing lacrosse back in the day. Try stepping in front of one of those balls when they're being fired at the goal. Ouch.

Been there, done that....played attacked and was hit by my own middies more than once. All the way thru college, I wore my rec pads and had permanent bruises between my wrists and elbows because when defenders see skin, they are relentless. I would become numb, ha!

Yeah. I played defense and mid. Another favorite spot to destroy is just below the shoulder pads, lol.

Ray Lewis statue!!!!!!

Yeah, I may have steered this in a different direction....my bad, mods!

Ray will get his statue, Ray will be a first ballot HOF'er and Ray will get another ring! That is all.

Oh my god... Fighting back the urge to debate! I will give you that lacrosse is a challenging sport that requires more athletic ability than baseball, but hitting a baseball is no easy task!

Round ball, round bat= not easy. Actually hitting is considered by a lot of people to be the hardest thing in sports :) But yes I would love to see a Ray Lewis statue someday!
