What Does the Start of Camp Mean To You?

18 posts in this topic

After reading Eisenberg's column (and the replies) this morning I got to thinking about the "meaning" of Training Camp.

To me, this is when I let go of last season and get ready for a whole new experience. The long off-season seemed like just a carry-over of last year (especially since things ended so shockingly for us). This week I promise myself to forget 'the drop' and 'the miss' and look forward to another wonderful season of Ravens football.

Even though I know we can't top last year's winning every home game and sweeping the division, I'm sure we'll have plenty of excitement to keep us engaged all year. Optimism abounds and I'm sure this is our year to go all the way.

I always get caught up in the reports, no matter how small. Have to remind myself that it's 'just training camp'

But I love to hear who's stock is rising and falling each day, even if it's seen through reporters' eyes.

Actually we can top last year by winning the AFCCG! It is happy new year to me and makes my family cringe because they don't see too much of me. I was watching Hello Rookie on NFLN my boycott is over!
The sad part is this maybe Ray Lewis last training camp or season and he will be missed.
PS I hate basball lol glad to see the O's doing well.

Yea I'm not sure what the Ravens would look like without Ray. I mean i'm sure Suggs will keep everyone jacked, but not like Ray. For me, training camp is like christmas. I can't stay off line looking at reports. I wanna see CBSSports rapid reports. tweets, presser and all.

I'm always slightly rooting for the offense to do well, because I know the defense will be just fine. I enjoy seeing what WR made plays, what RB was able to break free. Surprising I'll be watching the Kickers this year.

I just enjoy seeing the young guys take step towards making a nam for themselves. Camp, preseason I love it. Most people turn away from the 2nd half of preseason game, but I watch it with nearly the seem intensity and emotion as a regular season game.

Usually training camp for me means no more Orioles, but those guys actually are holding my attention this year.

It means the wait is almost over. Thank God. Let's bring a home playoff run and a Lombardi back to charm city! We have the tools. Let's execute, boys!

It means time to come out of hibernation. Who won the NBA championship? I was sleep.

For me, I'm looking for the next great story. Last year, it was LaQuun Williams. An UDFA local guy who ended up making the team. I also look forward to getting the first indication of how this season may go.

Yeah, man! We are watching the Olympics opening ceremony and there was an ad for Sunday Night Football thrown in there--starting Sept 5, Giants vs. Cowboy. Then, Big Ben vs Tebow. My wife was rolling her eyes. That's a good sign...heh, heh...

It means the seasons right around the corner. Which makes me extremely happy. It's also a time to see how our rookies our adjusting.

The offseason flew by! I'm glad the Orioles have kept me interested in them for this long, they did their job. lol.

I would like to know why practices are not open to the public anymore.I used to enjoy going to mcdaniel and watching practices ,talking to the players, and just being around that enviroment talking football. Could somebody please explain why they have 2 practices open to the public.I don't think all the other teams are doing this are they?

Many teams have started having private practices at their own facility. I believe New England is one of them.

Because of the lockout last year they were unable to have camp at McDaniel. Instead, they had camp at the Castle which they apparently deemed a better option for the team than going to McDaniel. It makes sense from a financial standpoint. Yeah, it screws the fans but it's a better option for the team.

I do wish that there were more practices made available for the fans but I'm not going to question the front office.
