No one should question any of this, it's just another classy Ozzie move around this time. It's only a workout, and if he's better then anyone on our line then he should be playing there.

Belicheck signed Waters a couple years ago when he was apparently washed up and he has done great for them.

Great point there. Waters has been a tank for New England. Perhaps Steinbach can be the same

Good move but hoping KO gets a fair opportunity to show what he can do at LG and that he shows the coaches bringing in Williams and potentially Steinbach was a mistake and that they should have had more confidence in him to replace Grubbs at LG. I like this move but we finally let our young players play and finally we saw what happened. Pitta was awesome, Torrey Smith again awesome, and I bet KO would do wonders for our offensive line as a rookie, but will the coaches let him show it or hold him back?

Even if KO proves to be good enough how will it prove to be a "mistake"?

I'm sure he'll get a fair shot. But if he's not capable of playing well, I will be more than happy to see Bobbie or Eric start. I want to see the best offensive line we can put together. If KO is on that line, then that is obviously the best case scenario. But if he's not ready, he's not ready. I really can't stress that enough.

If we just let the young guys play, what happens if they aren't ready? What if they end up sucking the big one and we have no backup plan? That's when you start losing games.

It's always best case scenario for your young guy to EARN the starting job, but if starting the young guy is a detriment to the team's production, he shouldn't be on the field.

Harbuagh said KO has back spams and could practice soon. Last time we heard that Gaither didn't practice at all. So it sounds like KO is not getting a shot early because of injury.

Reid is hurt again, and KO is hurt. Williams needs some competition at LG.

I think its a bit too early to count out KO. Harbs said he should be out there practicing tomorrow. This is just the FO doing due dilligence on a player that is available.

I'm not counting him out, but you still have to acknowledge the fact that their is a injury their. A muscle spasm in the back is something that can last a week or 2, OR it can linger. I was just stating if KO didn't get a shot it would probably be to injury, not because of vets ahead of him.

Even without the minor injury to KO, Steinbach if added would be great competition to the LG position.

Waters is a different class of guard and isn't coming off a major injury. He's the exception to the rule.

With that said, the more veterans we sign (who have played at a pro bowl level) the better chances we have of hitting on someone who still has a lot of gas in their tank. For guys like Ray and Ed our window is too small for a lot of projects at second and third string.

Exactly what I'm saying. I'd rather get good players now, and win now than plug in young guys and hope they end up good. I want to win. I'm tired of falling short. I want to see our Ravens win.

I dunno, taking chances on guys who are past their prime is just as risky as giving a young guy a shot.

but it's not like you are asking these guys for 2 or 3 years of service. Imo it's just like Mason, Heap, and Buddy Lee getting cut. All those guys were coming off of fairly good seasons in 2010. The Ravens could have clearly held onto those guys, but after a years of service, the team felt that Dickson, Pitta, and Cody were ready to step up.

The team felt that Boldin could handle being our #1WR and mentoring the young WRs. The same thing is happening with the OL imo. Guys like Gino and KO are rookie, Ried is basically a rookie as he's learning a new position. So it's hard to say if those guys are ready to take over. You can't just give these guys a starting spot.

All of those young guys will get the chance to play together on the 2nd team. KO, Gino, Boren and Jah will be able to learn each other, all while competeting with the guys ahead of them. If the vets prove to be over the hill, or if the young guys prove to be just as good, they'll earn the starting job.

Well those young guys fighting for starting/backup spots are not going anywhere, why not bring in those veterans and then we'll see who can step up.

This issue of age on the OL is greatly overblown. OL is a place where you can succeed with older players as they bring experience in recognizing blitzes and defensive schemes, etc. Plus, as stated, it gives the kids players to learn from.

The Colts and Pats were more successful on OL when they had a majority vet group with maybe one kid. Petting and Tom Brady seemed to prefer vet OL protecting them. Plus guys like Bobby Williams and hopefully Steinbach, they know the AFCN.

An OL of Mckinnie, Steinbach, Birk, Yanda, Oher and Williams in jumbo packages would be very good.

Man, that's 1927 lbs., almost a short ton on the line. That package would have to hit the weigh station on the highway before coming to the stadium. lol

Joined the Dolphins... must be the money or the weather or a combination of the two!

He has a better chance of starting in Miami
Based on what John Harbaugh said in his presser, it was almost like he was hoping Steinbach would join the Ravens... he wouldn't say what he said if they didn't offer him a deal I think...
