Basically, a girl stood up to a group of bullies who were messing with a girl with special needs and the principal decides that "two wrongs don't make a right, and that the bullied girl never complained" so the heroine of this story is the one who gets in trouble.

There is something seriously wrong with this country. Too many idiots in charge, if this was my daughter, I would be so proud of her and I would feel so at peace with myself knowing I did a great job raising a wonderful human being.

Just thought I'd pass it along, the country has been having an increase in bully issues over the last few years and instead of rewarding this girl, they treat her as a bully herself.

If I had the money I would buy that girl limo service for the week she was suspended.

IMO this is one of the weakest statements ever. Especially in this instance when the girl actually did the right thing. Protecting an innocent person from harm is a pretty black and white thing for me, do whatever you need to.

There's no question about that! This is clearly a great example of this fact.

Even I find myself siding with the girl, and I'm the jack-something who always has to disagree with everyone.

That's the message the educational system wants to send out? Stand up to bullies and help another person out and you'll get punished?

The idiot who handed down this punishment should have no involvement in the development of kids.

This is why our educational system has gone down the drain. Now a days, teachers ignore the real bully and send the kid who stands up to the bully to the principal's office instead of the real bully. This girl did the right thing and deserves to be awarded and not punished. It wasn't her fault that the school didn't respond and do a damn thing to stop the bullying themselves but as soon as she defends that girl, they are right there to respond and send her to the principal.

Just like in sports, the perpetrator is missed, while the person defending themselves or someone else is caught & punished. It's unfortunate; but it's important to take that risk.

I salute anyone who stands up to a bully, no matter what age they are.

And how about the parents who ignore the bad behavior of their kids, or who are bullies themselves.

We have to turn things around.
