Special teams blocking. He's real good at it. Which is a shame he can't do things a big back should be able to do, since he'd be a 3 tools guy (short yardage, pass protection and special teams).
his pass protection is awful. He made two special teams blocks on one return. That doesn't mean he's good at it

He was good at special teams last year before he got a hammy issue. It's not just the preseason thing. If Bobby Rainey weren't so good I'd say his special teams skills could get him on the team. But no way we lose Bobbey Rainey, that kids dynamite.
Bobby Rainey has special team skills as well. He can return, so special teams IMO would be a wash at least

This is true, but a good returner is still only as good as his blockers. Rainey is a beast, but would he maintain his ability as a return man with worse blockers? Just something to think about.

I'm 100% behind Bobby Rainey, but I was impressed with Allen last year and he's disappointed me. Allen can also cover, I doubt Rainey has that side.

Somebody's gonna scoop up Berry if they get the chance.
I doubt it.I think he makes the practice squad.

This time last year I thought Allen was a lock.
Today.
Good luck AA.
I wish I knew what happened.

Well the running backs did their thing and the cream came to the top. Ok I believe that this game showed what AA can do which is alot of things. He had a solid game, GOOD BLOCKING!!!, and catching the ball in traffic, running hard. His goup was the first to score and move the ball against the Rams 1st defense. The Rams 1 defense played alot of the game and they were hitting. I know he made the team. Yes he was focused and kick but out there. What happened to the other backs lets say it happens. I for one is proud of how he played. Tommorrow we shall see but I have high confidence in him making the team. Enough said. Good luck to all its sad that these cuts have to be made.

Allen wasn't impressive at all. He had a few nice plays, but a power back like him should be driving through piles. He was stopped on first contact most of the time.

This. For being known as a power back, he played pathetically. He has very slow cuts and didn't truck anybody. Not impressed. Seeya later!

I was thinking the same. Rice, Pierce, Rain Train and Leach make the team. Cut Allen, and put Berry on the P.S. and I hope someone like the steelers won't snatch him up.

I wish there was a way to keep Berry on the roster. He has a lot of value on special teams as well, so he could make a case. I like Berry!

Yeah i like Berry too. I think for some reason, him being from the U has a lot to do with it for me. I wish we could keep him on the roster as well, but sadly, i don't think we need 4 RBs.

It all depends on ST for him. He's started out on the kickoff unit each game, but that may mean nothing. If the coaches watch the tape and see he performed on ST, they'll justify keeping 4 RBs.

Berry and Rainey provide depth as returners as well.

Ah yeah i keep forgetting they both return kicks. I wouldn't mind having Rainey/Berry on kicks then and just keeping Jones as a PR.

If Berry goes to the PS, he gets picked up while they're signing the papers (if they do that).
This gets said every year, but often doesn't happen. Some times, I think we overvalue our own talent based on what they do against backup (and lesser players).

I think it's a risk they have to take. I just can't see them carrying 4 TBs with the needs they have elsewhere.

I, personally; have never said this about any of our "bubble" players. I know you're speaking to/for the masses, just wanted to say that to show how strongly I feel about this. PS and he's gone!

Allen is gone. Wish his college tape would have translated to NFL

Pierce looked amazing getting around and turning the edge. I was impressed.

Berry looked like a bowling ball and was putting together some extremely good work until the stinger.

Rainey has looked good too but I'm not sure about where he will fit in. I hope he makes it

I hope we can IR Berry. Maybe he broke his shoulder! Yeah!

Allen, I believe, will be cut. He was just unimpressive as a RB. He was decent on ST, though.

Sounds like they are working out and injury settlement with Berry. If so, then they will release him.

They could then sign him to the PS later once he's healthy again.
