I don't see why not if it's just a 1 year deal where he provides depth behind Pollard and contributes on special teams. As someone said, he returned punts for us when he was here, don't see why he can't do that every once in a while.

Oh yeah, he could give Hilarious a break. I didn't even think about that.
Special teams guys. Even he doesn't play much on defense, I see a way Leonhard could see the field.
I also like the way PuRock put it.
Again, in Ozzie we trust!!!

I can't seem to recall but has any Raven ever left the system, then came back? Besides from retiring.

Ma'ake Kemoeatu came back this year

I'd say JL was a "good" player, but I can honestly say there was never a time he made a memorable impression on me. Hell, Josh Wilson made a better memorable impression on me just because of what happened at the end of the Texans game a couple of years ago. So, no -- live & learn, Jim. If you hadn't jumped ship, I'd be all for giving you a new contract or a franchise tag -- but we've got Flacco & Reed to worry about.

2009 playoffs @ Tennessee. J. Leonard hit (Crumpler or CJ2K??) near the end zone in 4th quarter for a forced fumble...
He came up huge in the second half of 2009 season, nobody remembers the underdog though. Sad

Anyway, id welcome him back as a backup for sure!

That was the game winning play right there, no doubt

It was.
I thought after that game that Joe would be the first rookie QB to win a SB, seeing as how Tenn was the favorites to win it all with it's undefeated season and all.

You cant blame the guy for wanting to get paid, a starting job, and to follow a coach that EVERYONE on the defensive side loved.

Little did he know where Rex Ryan would have took them, im sure as an older wiser player, he may not have jumped ship had he been offered the starting gig for Bmore..

i thought about it but I think its unrealistic, its rare that a former Raven is brough back especially after he has had trouble remaining healthy ever since he left Bmore for NY

IMO it doesnt matter that he left to go with rex to get paid, everyone says this is a business, lets keep it that way, no reason to hold a grudge against someone that got offered more money to play with the DC that he is familar with. The answer to the OPs questions is very simple, If he can still be a diference maker, i want him, if not kick rocks. Hes a tough and rugged player like we like, so find out what he has left in the tank, Its quite simple, if he makes the team better, sign him.

I don't like it. We've enhanced our DBs so much over the past few years, signing pollard and getting Jimmy Smith. I'd rather have us spend money on other things that are more vulnerable

Too big of an injury risk, and I like our depth at CB and S as it is... we're fine without Jimmy.

Meh. If we really needed DB depth I'd say sure..but at this point we have more than enough bodies back there. Hope Jim gets a job though!

Always liked Jim, very hard hitting guy. Everything Ravens were about. Seeing as the defense isn't getting any younger he could very well be a great re-addition. But then again Rex doesn't give away good players...and we have many players starting to show their skills.
