I saw on twitter today that the Jets are not going to resign him and I wanted to know would this be a good move for us. He had a very good season as a Raven in 08' but I personally was sad to see him go with rex to the jets. Even though he wont start he'll had depth to our defense. He also know's most of the guys on the D and won't have a hard time re-learning our playbook. My only concern is that he'll be coming back from an injury

(torn patellar tendon in his right knee) that was in December, but if he say's he's healthy lets see whats up. What do my fellow Raven fans think?

Jim is a good, solid player and would be excellent depth behind Pollard. I just don't know how that financially would fit into the grand scheme of things at this point.

Dont think we could get him for a 1-yr deal? Just to see if he can still be dominant

For a Raven's price...

I liked Leonard when he was here. We signed him for a song, he played hard and smart, he returned punts, and was an all around playmaker.

If he is cheap enough he'd be just the kind of late season pick-up Ozzie is known for but... The Colts and Pagano are likely to pay a bit more and so I think he'll go there if not somewhere else with money. Its still within the realm of possibility though and a development I'd like to see.

The 4 top safeties now are Reed,Pollard,Thompson, and Considine among other less likely names (Cook being the best darkhorse to earn a spot). I think he'd be an upgrade over Considine but we aren't likely to sign Leonard and let Considine go unless the latter has played poorly in camp or they were under a Maake Kemo-like agreement which is essentially to take a flier out on a guy and let him try to make the team. Ozzie says we'll do whatever we can to make our team better but we tend to honor our contract intentions if not our contracts. (see Redding, Carr, etc)

No, we've moved on.

Remember he was of the few to jump ship for Rex Ryan without a thought...

Wouldn't hurt to see what he has left. 1 year deal with no promises

Considering Jim is one of Rex's favorite players, I suspect the Jests aren't re-signing him because he's damaged goods. No thanks.

A PCL damages him permantly? Not likely. If he is damaged goods I wonder if it is related to soemthing else. (Lack of focus, anti-Sanchez, etc)

This is what I was originally thinking. But don't forget that the Jets have also had an influx of talent at the Safety position including LaRon Landry and Yeremiah Bell. They still have Eric Smith. Jim is the odd man out since he doesn't have a contract and is coming back from injury.

I'm not for this move, but I'm not totally against this move either.

I don't see why not if it's just a 1 year deal where he provides depth behind Pollard and contributes on special teams. As someone said, he returned punts for us when he was here, don't see why he can't do that every once in a while.

Thompson, Considine and Cook are all the depth the team needs at safety. And there are better, more explosive options to return punts.

Man, the JETS are a dirty team, they will kick their players to the curb in a instant. All well , maybe good players will have a second thought when they have to choose between the JETS and RAVENS. I think they would pick the RAVENS , even if it was for just a tad less money. LOYALTY Goes a long way in my book.

I think its pretty messed up that he got hurt and JETS dropped him, he had a great yr the season before, not sure how he played this yr, but it couldn't have been any worse then Dirty Sanchez.

LOLOLOL, The whole team is Anti - Dirty Sanchez, thats why they got TEBOW, loloolol. Which was just as Dumb. I love how everyone was talking about the JETS and then boom, nothing. Yet RAVENS keep doing their thing and get no Love. All well , as long as we keep winning.

I was/am a HUGE JL fan. I thought the ravens were insane for not keeping him around. He was one of the smartest/hardest playing players on the team and a large part of the defense that year. With that said, he is not worth the effort. The last 2 years he has gone down on IR and we do not need to waste money/roster spots on someone who will go on IR. Maybe a 1 year contract at vet min with incentives. I think developing players for the post Reed ravens is more important, and cheaper.

If the front office doesn't feel comfortable with the current back ups that we have at the safety positions, then I would say that we should bring Leonard in for a try out to see where he is as a player right now. I don't want him for anything other than depth and insurance. But how safe is it to rely on an injury prone player to provide insurance?

im iffy on this..... we brought him in before, and left with Rex, now rex doesnt want him anymore, and we already have emerging stars that are geling quite well so far... throwing in an Ex-teammate with the current players , im not saying it would cause a distraction because i dont think it woud BUT there definitely would be some catching up to do on Leonards part, and i think that could "slow" progression from the secondary overall. Not saying he would not contribute BUT its the Catch up factor and then theres the issue of "what would we do with him, we already have players we like and whom are progressing and younger... where do we fit leonard in? and not take away from the other guys"......... granted Ozzie's approach of "right player, right price" has done us well over the years.... we'll see what they'll do..

oh and then there's the issue of Depth.... we all know for a fact... you can never have enough depth at a positon.... we know that all too well... we'll see what happens
