Darrelle Revis And Lardarius Webb

87 posts in this topic

Will be the 2 names that go hand in hand with the phrase "Best CB in Football" by the end of next season. That's how confident I am in the way Webb is playing right now. People outside Baltimore have been sleeping on Webb for FAR TOO LONG! This is the year he finally get's recognized as an "elite" CB. We are blessed as fans to have this young man on our team, Webb is about to become a premier defender and add to the list of Ravens greats on D.

The scariest part is we haven't even seen him at his best yet, expect a dominant 2012-2013 campaign from Mr. Webb. It's safe to say our FO struck gold yet again.

Lewis, Reed, Suggs, Ngata, AND WEBB. How crazy would it be to have 5 HOF'ers play on the same D. It's actually possible if you ask me.

Lewis: Lock

Reed: Lock

Suggs: Probable

Ngata: Probable

Webb: Don't miss a game!

I liked him since draft day. Swear to God. Somehow, in some result of some drunken conversation, he is now referred to as "my baby's momma", lol. If he intercepts, that's all I hear.

I love Webb. Jimmy could be even better.
which is very scary. We've never really had a great pair of CBs. I mean Cmac and Starks was a good pair but we couldn't keep them together. Then CMac and Rolle, but both were on the back 9 of their careers.

Webb and Smith are both young and will be around for a while.

Webb's incredible.

One of my favorite plays from last year is in the SF game, where he maneuvers in front of Braylon Edwards to make a pick in the endzone. Edwards is like 7" taller then he is.

Webb is next in line of our great defensive pedigree. The Ravens defense has a pedigree unknown to the NFL! They are a dynasty and will be for ever!

Love Webb but he just had his first shut down season. Keep in mind with our best pass rusher out and going against tougher competition, he is going to be tested much more this season. While I'm sure he'll still have a great season and a great career.. lets slow down on the HOF talks. If he has a similar season as last season in those circumstances then I'll join in on those talks without hesitation lol

Webb is very good and we struck gold with him. You just have the feeling when he is on the field whoever he is defending is not going to beat us. I like that he is not cocky like other guys like Revis, just a humble hard working guy. He is definitely one of my favorite young players and a rising star.

Was gonna start a new "Other Team" post about Revis, but it really wasnt for anything more than to say he is a complete piece of poop!!! Really? You're holding out again? Just play football and shut up! You are a sad little fella!

I personaly think Revis is overated. I always have. He is a phenominal athlete and a great corner, but watch him play. He is ALWAYS manhandling a reciever and commiting PI/Ilegal use of hands, yet never gets called for it. I forget the game last year where he gets a pick in the red zone, after literaly pushing the reciver off of his route. Why he gets away with it, I have no idea. But he is not a clean shutdown corner. He was also a product of a good pass rush, and you can see his drop off in production last year is a result of not having the PR to help him.

Webb gave up zero touchdowns and scored one off a pick. +1 for a corner is insane.

I know its early, But I think should we keep Cary, we could have the best Tandem/trio of corners in the NFL. The days of a nickle or dime corner are going to come to an end and you will need to have more than 2 starter quality corners to be able to defend with the way TE and 4/5 reciever sets are being used.

Webb is already playing as probowler
Jimmy has some more work to do, but has the physical atributes and natural atleticim to bring it together
Cary has played WELL beond expectation and if he had gotten a couple of picks last year, would be close to Webb

I REALLY like where the ravens are going on defense. Spend your money on the DL/Pass Rush and Corners. That is the future of the game.

I think the scariest thing is that Cary Williams played so well last year and we're talking about him being the third best corner on the team.

Cary >Jimmy at this point. Jimmy has more high side but he still was rough last year. Geting torched in SD didnt help him.

Yea I've mentioned that a few times. In the pass happy NFL, a 3rd CB is just like a starter. So I would love to see Cary re-signed.

I disagree, I think getting torched in SD had a great impact on Jimmy. That game really humbled him, not that he was a big headed guy, but it showed him that everybody in the NFL is at least as talented as him, opposed to college when he was always the best guy on the field.

That game showed him that, much like coach Pees said, it'll be hard work and perfecting his technique that separates him from the other players at his position.

After that SD game, he bounced by with a with strong performances in the Cincy, Hou and NE games to close the season. He had really strong coverage when lined up against AJ Green and A. Johnson.

Yea I think Revis is a really good player, but I think he gets the superstar treatment that helps him. The game against the Dolphins was when he got that pick after basically grabbing Brandon Marshall with no call made.

The same thing also happened against the Ravens. Torrey ran pass Revies twice in that game and one of those plays all Revies could do was grab Torrey, to stop the pass from being complete but no call was made. Actually Mason gave him the business a few times in the 2010 matchup, but the ball didn't go his way. He's really good, but I don't think he was any better then what CMac or Champ in their primes.

As for liking what the Ravens are doing on defense. That's just the new NFL. It's a passing league so you gotta make sure your strongest defensive positions are geared up to stop the Pass. People say how will the Ravens replace Ray Lewis, who will be the next Ray Lewis? Well the Ravens don't really have to worry about replacing him because the NFL has done it for the entire position it seems. We could very well see McClain and a guy like Carr be our starters next season, with Ellerbe and Bynes rotating in, without the defense missing a step.

Now that's no knock to Ray, because there will never be another him, but the defense will be much stronger in other areas that the priority of the ILB position won't be as high.

If Jimmy was outperfoming Cary, he would have been starting and not playing nickle.
I never said he outperformed Cary. I loved how Cary played last year. I should have been more clear. I disagree about the SD game not helping him. Everything else about the post I agree with.

You hit the nail right on the head there. The Ravens desperately NEED all 3..Webb,Williams,Smith. If you go back and look at the AFCC, our secondary competely shut Brady down...now THAT out of those 3 young guys is truly insane.

Now, this is where this team can be EXTREMELY dangerous.. just imagine if the Offense can get a little more consistent and force teams to play from behind most games..watch out.

With all the other superstars on the defense, I'm not sure Webb will ever truly get his due. Regardless, we the fans appreciate how good he is.

As for Revis, he's clearly the best CB in the league, but like others have said, he gets away with contact Frank Walker would appreciate.

Cary got torched in that game too. Jimmy has way more potential than Cary does and he really showed some flashes last season. I cant wait to see what they both can do this year.

I will predict this: Jimmy will be the starting CB opposite of Webb come week 1.

I'd love for Webb or ngata to get dpoy this yr.
It's very difficult for a CB to get DPOY - the great ones don't get thrown on often, so they don't get many INTs... Safeties like Ed get picks, playing centerfield, but great corners are avoided like the plague.

As a result, measurable stats (like sacks) are more likely to draw the voters' attention - like T Sizzle's last year. Webb can have a great season, but the only measurable indication will be passes defended, in all likelihood.

I will predict this: Both Jimmy and Cary will start the game on the field together, because the Bengals will be in a 3WR set.

Those guys are gonna be like Dickson and Pitta, it won't matter where they are on the depth chart because both will play and produce a lot.
