According to Daniel Jeremiah/NFL.com (who used to work in the Ravens' FO):
A source close to the situation told NFL.com that quarterback Joe Flacco is the next priority and there is a "75 percent chance" a deal will get done prior to the start of training camp.
That would be great. Then work out something with Reed if he can come back to planet earth. Then there's only one thing left to do.....ball out!

If we get our Franchise QB, our future HOF RB, our potential shutdown corner, while extending a very promising SS who had a great 1st season, minus the suggs injury, i think this offseason has been the best in a longtime. There is not much else could be asked for.

I love percentages...you're never wrong with your predictions that way. That's why weather reports are given that way now. 50% chance of rain means maybe it will, maybe it won't.

It'd be awesome but I'll be mildly optimistic for the time being. In the LFW, Joe's agent sounded very positive.

I wonder what it would do to our cap space? I just got used to having a little bit of pocket change.

They can structure it in a way that it would have no impact (or even a positive impact) this year. For example, if they do the new contract to start after the season, there would be no impact. If they start it now but split the signing bonus over two years, it could have a positive impact.

Very true. He's set to make a decent amount this season, anyways. Like you said: it could just be an extension, leaving this season's pay relatively the same.

There's only One who's always 100% accurate and that's God!

That said, at least the 75% indicates that things are positive and amicable. Hey with the new baby, they'll need that lucrative signing bonus ASAP. Diapers and formula and the ointment to help the circumcision heal (ouch) are expensive and $6.5 million won't cover it. LOL

Aaron Wilson and others were reporting that they doubted Ray Rice would be signed on Monday so I don't put much stock in these guys reports. For all we know Flacco's could get done on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Again God is the only 100%. Everyone else are at best good at guessing.

This has been at the forefront of my mind all week, if we were going to get Flacco locked up sooner or later. I'm hoping this report pans out.

Im really hoping we get him signed, it would be a awesome offseason ( minus suggs ) If we locked up Webb, Pollard, Rice and Flacco. Who knows - Maybe Ed Reed too. Joe really deserves his Extension, Lets get it done Ravens.

There's a 75% chance that I will comprehend Joes' performance this season while drinking 100% of the time during games.

with the reported agressors being the Ravens , and not Flacco's side, shows you they want a deal done and in place. with 75 percent in place, i can see a deal being done and in place before camp starts, barring any setbacks.

I hope so. This will help out on many level.

#1) We will reserve the possible use of a franchise tag next year on him. Which the Ravens do not want to put on him.
#2) His contract will be cheaper now then if he goes off and explodes with deep balls to Torrey Smith all year.
#3) One less headache to worry about for the front office
#4) Less bickering by the fans as to whether we should keep Joe long term or not.

How long do you think the contract will be for and how much money will he get?

In 2008 Big Ben got 8 years for 102 million. That's an average of 12.75 million.

I was thinking somewhere between 100-110 million and 7-8 years. That would put Joe somewhere in the 13-14 million range.

Now, I realize that Ben is currently a better quarterback than Joe, but Joe deserves that contract for a few reasons.

First, the market price for a franchise quarterback has simply increased since Ben got his deal. Franchise quarterbacks (don't you dare tell me he isn't one) make at least 13 million in today's NFL. Second, Joe comes without headaches. He works hard, plays hard, and he can be relied upon to win. Sure he made some headlines this off season, but he's not a drama queen like other players. He's a leader with strong work ethic. Lastly, he hasn't reached his potential yet. I firmly believe he has the potential to surpass Big Ben as a passer, especially if we improve his supporting cast.

Joe is a franchise quarterback, and he will be paid like he's a franchise quarterback.

I see them playing his contract out until next season. I hope it goes that way, that way he still a fire under him.

We know they're negotiating aggressively. He may play out his contract, but that doesn't seem to be the desired outcome for either party.

And really? Getting a new contract isn't going to kill his spirit.

I agree. Joe doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would get lazy after getting a contract.

I just feel like without all this contract talk thats happening in the league, it would be much more underwhelming if it's not being concentrated at this point and time.

Also i didn't say Joe would underachieve, i just feel like it's that much more of flame under him IMO..

I get what you are saying, but I think Joe is really focused at winning a championship. He takes so much heat both locally and nationally its almost comical. He wants to go out and prove all the doubters wrong.
