Complete classless organization all the way from top to bottom.  They'll cheat, sign class-less players, etc.  Win at all cost I guess.  ZERO integrity.

But they do care about the Comp pick that they will get if they don't resign him next season.

Which is a completely bogus rule by the NFL.  No way you should get a comp pick for someone you sign in Week 15.  They should have to be on your roster all year (or at least a large portion of it) to qualify for a comp pick.

Agreed but, it is what it is and you know teams will take advantage of rules when they can, especially NE.

This just in: Aldon Smith is ticked off about the NFL not answering him about his reinstatement.

You actually have to read all of that article because several things will become clear.

First of all Mr. Smith, who is to blame for you being in your current situation? Secondly, the NFL doesn't owe you anything or an answer to your question on your timetable. They can chose to reinstate you or not whenever they want to. Got a problem with that, blame your player reps for not asking for more clarity in the CBA. It seems pretty clear that they have "broken him" because of his outlandish comments. Also, how great of an image are you portraying when you are "so mad he can't even talk, he'd be yelling," to say that you've completely reformed and you're ready to play. Then his trainer says he's mentally stronger now than he was before and this is how he's acting? Somebody doesn't seem like they are quite ready to return to this game.

The NFL has fined the Giants for Walkie-Talkie Gate as the use of walkie-talkies are not permitted during the game. The Giants were fined $150,000, Head Coach Ben McAdoo was fined $50,000 and their fourth round pick has been moved to the end of the round after all the compensatory picks.

In big news, the NFL has decided to NOT reinstate Raiders DE/OLB Aldon Smith and will revisit the situation in March. He was suspended from the NFL for a year on November 15th, 2015 and could apply for reinstatement after the year was up. He applied for reinstatement in early October, the NFL didn't give Aldon an answer and now we know the answer. So Aldon won't play again until 2017.

Shouldn't Goodell have suspended him by now considering how much trouble he gets in?

It's Goodell we're talking about.

It doesn't make sense to him. He's going to jail for poking somebody in the eye, that doesn't make sense to him. Then he's fighting a police officer, that doesn't make sense to him. Then he spits in the face of somebody trying to assist him, that doesn't make sense to him. Then he goes to jail, that doesn't make sense to him. He'll let it all play out in court and it won't make sense to him when he's found guilty again and gets off with a slap on the wrist and a fine he can easily pay while the NFL looks the other way while he collects another huge paycheck he doesn't deserve the right to earn. If he didn't know how to play football this guy would still be in jail.

Yep! This is why I didn't want him at all before he re-signed with the Bengals. Could you imagine these boards if he did this as a Raven?

You know what doesn't make sense to me?

That this guy Adam "Make it rain and if you touch my money I will punch a girl out" Jones was on the symposium addressing the rookies coming into the NFL about how to act and behave and be on the straight and narrow. Whichever person was the head of the thing, thinking it was Troy Vincent at the time, heaped praise on Jones about how he was a great role model and so forth for the new young men of the NFL. Seriously?

His "It doesn't make sense..." comment reminded me of that South Park episode when they parodied Johnny Cochran. "This is Chewbacca. Now I ask you, does Chewbacca make sense? No. It does not make sense! Chewbacca does not make sense! Therefore you must acquit!"

The Aldon Smith treatment, then when Gregory applies for reinstatement Goodell will take his good old time and never tell him if he'll be reinstated or not.

There is nothing stating that the commissioner is on any time table to reinstate a player that was KICKED OUT OF THE LEAGUE for doing something wrong, and usually repeatedly. If you read an article about Aldon Smith's situation and the antics and attitude he was displaying in that piece I'd say he's not ready for anything but some serious mental help. If players don't like the disciplinary action from the NFL here are a few things they can do:

1) Don't play in the NFL. Actually get an education while you are at college so you can do something once your NFL career is over.

2) Bargain better at the CBA meetings, get better representation. There is a reason why it is called collective bargaining and if you do not like the disciplinary actions of the NFL then lobby to change them. I guess that's not as important as lobbying for getting more money though, huh?

3) This is perhaps the best and most important piece of advice for all of you NFL players out there and I will borrow it from Jim Carey's character in Liar, liar, "Stop breaking the law [colorful metaphor]!" You know, maybe you could stop beating up women. Stop driving while blitzed out of your mind on alcohol and/or weed. Stop driving around with an arsenal in your vehicle. Stop pushing around security guards, fighting police officers, and stop spitting on people. If you do engage in such activities not only are you proving you don't deserve the privilege of playing a game for thousands and millions of dollars, but you also don't belong in society in general. Be a good, law abiding citizen and you'll be amazed how you won't have to deal with waiting around for the Commissioner of the NFL to tell you whether or not you've been enough of a good boy to be let back in the league.

It depends on who you are and who your friends are I am certain. Jones has played good boy and jumped through hoops for the NFL going to the Rookie Symposium for at least a couple of years now. And what has it been now, a whole year or two that has passed since he last beat up a woman? He's made such progress!

I was around for the Dexter Manley days. That might be before a lot of people's time that are Ravens fans because he was a Redskins and Bucs player well before the Ravens came to town. Manley was a premier edge rusher at DE. We're talking Lawrence Taylor like ability here. He wasn't just good, he was one of the best ever and had things worked out differently for him I bet there might be a new all time sacks leader. There was a problem though. Dexter liked his cocaine....a lot. He got suspended I think about 7 times, was kicked out of football "for life" but got reinstated, then got suspended again. Eventually he wound up in the CFL where guess what? He was kicked out of it for doing cocaine.

So how did Dexter keep getting all these chances?

1) He was, when he was actually on the field, an amazing and superior talent.

2) He had lots of friends in high places. When Joe Gibbs vouches for you at the time he was manning the Skins, that carried a lot of weight.

3) Having exciting players in the NFL makes everybody money.

If Manley was a sub in player and special teams ace he would have been gone a long time ago.

PFT is a total joke. Nobody there; including Florio himself, seems to understand even the most basic fundamentals of writing. They insert their own biases in what they write all the time and report that as part of their story. They allow their own social and political views to creep into articles as well. There could not be a more misleading name for a site.

There is certainly no "professionalism" there in "PRO"

They certainly talk about a lot of things, so they at least got that right, but football only seems to really be discussed when they aren't too busy blabbering on about their own views.

Did I mention they don't list the team as the Washington Redskins on their PFT site, but then they do on their sister site Pro Football Rumors? What kind of idiotic hypocrisy is that? Way to take a stand there.

Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter was reportedly arrested Sunday night. (AP)

Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebackers coach Joey Porter had an unusual way of celebrating his team’s playoff win on Sunday.

Porter was arrested Sunday night after an altercation with a police officer, according to Beaver County Times reporter Chris Mueller. Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Sonya Toler confirmed Porter had been arrested to KDKA in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers said they were aware of an incident involving Porter, according to BCT reporter Chris Bradford.

“We are aware of an incident tonight involving Joey Porter,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said, according to Bradford. “We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and we will have no further comment until we get more details.”
