Arrest / Fine / Suspension Thread

1,845 posts in this topic

Didnt want to quote the whole thing.  So instead of the three games he got suspended for next year, what do you think should of happened?

At a minimum 4 to 6 games based off of his history, maximum should sit out the year. It is crystal clear that hitting him with fines has had no effect at all.  That guy is going to seriously hurt somebody. Burfict has absolutely no self-control and no accountability for his actions.  He is a detriment to himself, his team and any player that comes in contact with him.   Imo, there is just no place for someone in the league like him.  Body by Fisher, brains by Mattel.

Harrison has a long and distinguished record of the same behavior. Harrison was warned multiple times so much that he was specifically called into the League office for his actions THEN...remember the game where Harrison knocked Colt McCoy out? That was directly after he had been called to the League offices for head-hunting.

No surprise Harrison after this past game that went to Burfict's defense and mentioned that he had mentored Burfict when he first came into the league.  Smdh!

Don't even get me started on Harrison's off the field transgressions...mainly domestic violence instances that would trump RR's incident by ten fold.

I think his shot on Cribbs was one of the dirtiest I've ever seen. Cribbs was already being tackled and on his way down. The camera angle clearly shows Harrison lining up that helmet shot right to Cribbs' jaw. No flag, of course.

I know right. He targeted the hell out of his head...its a contact sport and we all love the big hits, but some are just not needed. I think the Bengals steelers games our going to be the AFC rival now

Thanks for the reminder. You make a good point.

Ya know, I said a quick prayer for any steeler fan trying to get out of that stadium that night.  It was all so ugly.

One thing in that report caught my attention.

"a typical Bengals game sees two or three arrests"

That is NUTS !!!!!!!!   Maybe I am being naive but does M&T see two or three arrests typically ?

I would say anytime you get 60k people together in one place and alcohol is being served, it's a good day when there are only 2 or 3 arrests.

"FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports LeSean McCoy is expected to be served with a self-surrender arrest warrant by the middle of the week.

ESPN's Mark Schwarz reports a warrant is "imminent" with McCoy expected to be served in the next 48 hours. McCoy and three other men including ex-Chargers RB Curtis Brinkley are alleged to have assaulted at least two off-duty police officers over a bottle of champagne. Under the new personal conduct policy, players can be placed on the commissioner exempt list if formally charged with a violent crime. If placed on the exempt list, McCoy would remain on paid leave until the criminal proceedings are completed.

I will just never understand these "kids."  And the fact that he would still get paid is absolutely insane.

Jeez, just save everyone else's time down the road and lock him up already. He obviously isn't learing how to stay out of trouble.

"Texans WR Jaelen Strong was arrested for marijuana possession in Scottsdale (AZ) late Sunday night.

Strong played college ball at nearby Arizona State. Pulled over in a car driven by Packers CB Damarious Randall, Strong admitted to police that he was in possession of marijuana without a medical card. "He gave police a cigar box with three marijuana cigarettes inside," according to the report. It's a disappointing development after Strong finished his rookie season on a fast note. By the end of 2015, Strong appeared poised to open his sophomore season as the Texans' starter opposite DeAndre Hopkins. Strong may now face discipline from the NFL."

A new witness has come forward saying he was in the looker room and saw the event at the heart of new sexual-assault allegations against Peyton Manning involving then-University of Tennessee trainer Jamie Naughright.

The witness said he saw Manning mooning a teammate and suggested he "thought nothing of it."

In an interview with Robert Klemko for Peter King's MMQB site, former University of Tennessee linebacker Greg Johnson, Manning's former roommate, said he was in the training room and saw what took place during the incident.

Johnson, who is now a police officer, told a story that supports Manning's version — that the quarterback pulled his shorts down in the direction of another athlete, Malcolm Saxon.

Johnson said he did not see any contact between Manning and Naughright. In a 2001 affidavit, Naughright alleges that Manning's "gluteus maximus, the rectum, the testicles. and the area in between the testicles" were in contact with her face.

"Saxon walks in, and Peyton was the kind of guy who had to be friendly with everyone; he wanted to include everyone, from his teammates to the cross country guy," Johnson told Klemko. "He says hey to Saxon and pulls down the back of his shorts, and I saw one butt cheek, and then he pulled his pants up. And Jamie said something like, 'Aw, you’re an butt.' Then I left. Thought nothing of it."

As noted by Klemko, this is similar to the description provided by Naughright during an employment-discrimination complaint filed against the University of Tennessee in 1996. In that affidavit, Naughright described several incidents, including one on February 29, 1996, the date of the alleged sexual assault:

Now what will Mr Goodell do? I see a double standard if he does nothing about this. But oh yeah the NFL banned Ray Rice for his assault

I still think this whole thing is a non story. It happened almost 20 years ago... The victim has already gotten money from royalties from that book for defamation of character. Can she get money again or would that be double jeopardy?  Why all of the sudden bring this back up during the Super Bowl and now after when he has won it? Publicity!

Yea this is just a click story.  I mean 20 years ago?  Question is, if Manning wasn't in the SB, would this have been a story?

I'm confused what you expect to happen. By all accounts other than the one filing the complaint - this was a simple horseplay incident within the locker room and was not directed at her. Furthermore, by all accounts, she flat out lied about what actually happened to make it appear that she was the target when she was not.

Unless I missed something in that report of events - nothing happened here to warrant any adverse action.

Rice gave a woman a left hook, knocked her out, drug her body out of an elevator, on camera

Manning show his bare but towards a teammate while a woman was present

Yea...off with Manning's head...

On Feb 21st, Randle was arrested for the fifth time in 18 months. Sunday March 6th, it is now 6 times in 18 months. This time he was arrested for failure to show up to court. He was booked sometime after 1:00a.m. and is being held on $150,000 bond.

Not an arrest but this could cause some concern within the NFL regarding to lift Josh Gordon's suspension. Josh Gordon was seen with Johnny Manziel at the UFC Fight on Saturday Night. I would agree with Rotoworld, it's not a concern he was there but who he was there with. Since the Browns are cutting ties with Manziel, I imagine hanging around Manziel isn't going to make the Browns happy since they are cutting all ties to him in a couple days. I also imagine the NFL can't be happy either as they have seen what trouble Manziel has caused and he's still hanging around the wrong people.
