Arrest / Fine / Suspension Thread

NFL just finished a calendar month without any player arrests reported. That hadn't happened in more than 6 years.

1:07 PM - 1 Oct 2015

:wootwoot:

Now if we can keep this in tact for the rest of the season, that would be great.

Sadly, it wasn't true. From USA Today:

September was hours away from becoming the first calendar month in six years without an NFL arrest. On Friday, the San Diego Union-Tribune’s NFL database reflected no arrests 48 hours earlier, and so it appeared something historic had occurred. It hadn’t.

Tennessee Titans rookie Dorial Green-Beckham snapped the no-arrest streak on Sept. 30 after getting pulled over for going 65 mph in a 55 mph zone. Green-Beckham had failed to pay a previous speeding ticket, and as a result, had a warrant out for his arrest.

Sadly, it wasn't true. From USA Today:

Supposedly he's such a bonehead he can't even figure out how to line up right. That's why the only time they really used him is on a goal line lob. Immature knucklehead.

Not going to make it through October, either. From USA Today:

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman has been suspended indefinitely after he was arrested for hit-and-run Wednesday evening.

Coleman was initially denied bail and remained in a Seattle-area jail Thursday morning. According to King County jail records, he is facing a felony charge of hit-and-run and vehicular assault. He was booked shortly after 1 a.m. PT. The Seattle Times reported Thursday that police in Bellevue, Wash., said Coleman walked away from a crash in which the driver of another car appeared to suffer a broken collarbone.

Even without Derrick Coleman, Johnny Football would have made sure we didn't get through October. Manziel and his girlfriend were pulled over after a witness said that Manziel used the shoulder to pass them at a high rate of speed. The witness said that Manziel and his girlfriend were arguing and that according to the witness, his girlfriend was trying to leave the car. Then........

Not only did Manziel admit to the police officer that he was drinking but his girlfriend said he pushed her head into the window. Police noticed an abrasion on her arm and it was determined that came from Manziel trying to prevent her from leaving the car. Of course now she is saying that "it was just an argument" but.... that won't stop the NFL from punishing him.

Didn't he learn anything from the Greg Hardy, Ray Rice and Ray McDonald cases from last year? No wonder why Cleveland is sticking with McCown.

Skip Bayless is heartbroken and Stephen A. Smith....well...I'll leave it at that.

Hardy may finally be going down, deservingly so.

Wouldn't be surprised. Rice was good until the elevator footage was revealed. So with the photos emerging I expect Hardy to be done too. Unless Jerry is too stupid to keep him.

This is sad.....

She was right...  Didn't matter what she said...  Nothing was going to be done about it...  and nothing was done.

"At any rate, the case was dropped, Hardy was declared legally innocent, and he went back to the NFL a bigger star than ever. (Both the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys declined to comment.) In the end, Holder was right. Her own prophecy came true, despite her own attempts to prove it wrong".

He won't get suspended again, Ray Rice's appeal closed that possibility. The Cowboys could cut him but, then again, this is Jerrah world.

Disgusting.

If you watched the Thursday night game, you might've caught Vontaze Burfict knocking over a broadcast camera unessecarily and injuring the operator. Since then, Marvin Lewis gave him a little talking to and told Burfict to apologize.

He was also in some conflict last week after Le'veon Bell's injury - Steelers players accused him of celebrating the play, which he was involved in.

by all accounts she took a pay off, so in a way it's her fault he wasn't punished. If she testified he would have been jailed from what I read.

That's the problem...  civil suit?  Maybe.  That has nothing to do with criminal charges.  She was afraid of him...  She disappeared, because he threatened her... "If you ever do anything to damage my career, I'll kill you"...   she knew nothing was going to happen to him... and as she said, it didn't.

she didn't turn up to court to give evidence because he paid her off. If she did, he'd likely have been jailed by all accounts.

He also obviously knew this, hence the pay off.

Is what happened to her wrong? Absolutely, but she took the payoff rather than standing trial, and that's why he isn't jailed.

The details of Hardy's incident look repugnant. Too bad we already declared Ray Rice the worst human on the planet. Ah well, I guess they'll have to split the title.

Can the NFL give Jerry Jones a drug test for this idiotic statement?

“While we did not have access to the photos that became public today, we were and are aware of the serious nature of this incident,” owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. “We as an organization take very this seriously. We do not condone domestic violence. We entered into the agreement with Greg fully understanding that there would be scrutiny and criticism.

“We have given Greg a second chance. He is a member of our team and someone who is grateful for the opportunity he has been given to move forward with his life and his career.”

Whatever you say Jerry. I would say Rice is more deserving of a second chance than Hardy ever was. By the way this comment that someone posted on this article is spot on.

Carolina: 7-0
Dallas: 2-5

Thanks, PFT comments usually deliver

As long as you're not picky about what they deliver, yes they usually do. :P
