Arrest / Fine / Suspension Thread

for some reason the link won't paste to the body of the message.

i was thinking over the weekend as i was watching the big ten chanmpionship how the city that stole the real Colts, the Baltimore Colts, has really prospered from this move where the economics of a pro team relocation do not usually work out.

that city hosts the NFL combine, the big ten football and basketball tournaments. they hosted the SB a couple years back between the giants and patriots. as much as i hate to admit it the relocation of the this pro team had a huge economic development on what i assume was a back woods city.

Pretty obvious he had a drinking issue despite repeatedly claiming not to. He needs help, he is a trainwreck.

Makes you kinda glad the Colts left Baltimore. Silver linings.

I am sure daddy Bob is "somewhere" watching smiling and proud!!

According to this here -

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2014/03/17/indianapolis-colts-owner-arrested-for-dwi/6515285/

Jim Irsay is facing four felony counts after getting arrested. They also mentioned that they found "multiple prescription drugs" and that they were schedule IV controlled substances. Examples of schedule IV drugs are Ambien and other similar sleeping pills, benzodiazepines such as Valium and Xanax, tramadol (painkiller) and Soma, which is a muscle relaxant. Haven't found anything that specifies exactly which drugs he was carrying yet...

Are we sure it's prescription drugs he was caught with? I wouldn't be surprised if Irsay liked to get wet.

I've heard "controlled substances" but as more information comes out, it's "controlled prescription medication." If the reports of schedule IV drugs are true, and that's it (well, as far as the non-alcohol part of this goes) then PCP wouldn't be involved since that's schedule II.

*I'd also like to just add that I'm totally not a drug user, I've never done anything harder than pot in high school, I just know A LOT about prescription medications and what's controlled and what isn't. Stupid anxiety and attention span and insomnia...

It makes me sick how on ESPN First Take everyone said they feel sorry for Irsay. I say the jerk is lucky that his wife even put up with him for 33 years. Would they still feel sorry for him if the guy killed someone driving around intoxicated on who knows what? You can certainly see that when it comes to the Irsays the fruit does not fall far from the tree. They get on the players when they do this. They say that the players make big money but they will never make owner money, so you tell me this guy couldn't pay for a cab. I went out this weekend with a whole group to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but you know what I kept everyone safe, did not drink, and made sure everyone spent the night over my house and left in the morning. I had some sleep in my kids rooms, put up a few blowup beds, and opened up the sleeper sofa. Unfortunately, his lawyers will probably get him out of this instead of doing the right thing and punish this jerk so he does not end up killing someone on the road.

Totally agreed and thank you for having the responsibility to keep those you were with safe.

Just gonna say Angelos>Irsay

Yup that's right... I said it

No but seriously I'm not surprised by this at all. Hes just a chip off the old block and the guy could have seriously killed somebody. He needs help for sure but in no way do I feel sorry for him.

Personifies the old saying, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Thank God he didn't hurt anyone else, really want to see how Roger deals with this. Hoping for the big hammer, billionaire, yeah right, idiot!!

I wonder if he might actually come down harder on him because he is an owner.  This is a major embarrassment for the league IMO.  If the Irsay's weren't such an embarrassment the Colts would probably be in LA right now.

Yeah I'm very intrigued with how Goodell deals with this.

I totally agree with you. L.A. wanted them bad! The Irsay family was and still is a mess. Punishing a billionaire has to be major compared to a player and you know they are watching this. A new standard must be set or the league will set a double standard the NFPLA will challenge in court for years to come. Good insight!!

i could care less about how the league comes down on him, the law needs to come down on him.  This is bigger than football.  DUI/DWI's are disgusting.  DUI/DWI related deaths average around 10,000 a year!  I'm sick of hearing everyone's well wishes as he checks himself into a resort/rehab, acting like once he finishes his 90 day program he can be a "beacon of hope" for all those who struggle with addiction.  He diserves to spend time in jail for his crimes (which in many ways are attemped manslaughter) because he is a CRIMINAL.  Be a drunk/drug addict all you want, doesn't matter at all to me, your prerogative.  Addiction is a terrible thing and truely takes control of your life, but get behind the wheel of a car under the influence, you put innocent men, women, and children's lives in jeopardy.  But the rich only get a slep on the wrist and a chance at a cute redemption story.  PUT THIS CRIMINAL IN JAIL WHERE HE BELONGS.

end rant

I don't think so.

I have to agree. It seems like he just accidentally hit someone on a bike and then panicked. His anti-gay thing from the Super Bowl also has no bearing on his driving. That's just character assassination.

Bengals fullback Orson Charles decided the right thing to do after being cut off by another driver was to wave a semi-automatic Smith & Wesson at them. Shockingly, this kind of thing gets you arrested for wanton endangerment in the first degree. Road rage is bad, mmkay?

Not arrested (yet) but Holy Cow!

@JasonHButt: Report: Colin Kaepernick being investigated for sexual assault: Alleged incident happened in Miami. http://t.co/SZ34dKXwQ1 @footballpost

Would you believe me if I said the 49ers would actually be excited this happened? Think about it, now Kaepernick just cost himself millions in his new contract.

Report: Other players may be involved including 49ers WR Quinton Patton and Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette. Apparently it happened in Lockette's apartment.

I figured Kaep would eventually take his [less than stellar behavior] off the field.
