Do these players know that the NFLPA created an app for their car service?  They don't even have to memorize a number anymore.

Just look at the mound of rubber from Smith's car

Did his car go up in flames, my goodness this looks like ashes left from a burnt car.

"Smith was arrested at 7 a.m. after a single-vehicle accident near Bentley Drive, and he subsequently failed a breathalyzer"

Anyone that intoxicated at 7 AM has a serious substance abuse problem. I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs.

Police say his blood-alchol level was .15, TWICE the legal limit.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, a neighbor who witnessed the accident said Smith’s foot was still on the accelerator of his SUV, which was against a tree, when police arrived. That caused the tires to smoke, and that suggests that Smith (who also had marijuana and pills in his possession) was seriously impaired.

Is the NFL substance abuse program open to all players, regardless of failed or passed drug tests? It sounds like it would do him some good. I hope this is an isolated incident of incredibly stupid behavior, and not a sign of regular behavior from him. As much as I've had my laughs over Hernandez's fall from grace, I still don't want to see anyone throwing away a career they worked hard to achieve over their own demons...

It's the second time for him with all this.  Unfortunately, it isn't just an isolated incident.

They just said on Redzone that Aldon Smith has cleaned out his locker and been suspended indefinitely.

Wha?

Not suspended... Inpatient therapy/rehab...

That's what I heard.  Should be longer than a week.  But my guess is he'll be back on the field for week 5.  Hardly enough time to try and recover from an addiction.  If he is on the field week 5, I doubt this is the last we hear of Aldon and his 'issues'.

So what's the point of checking in? Face?

I guess he's trying to limit his suspension time... If he really wants help, he needs at a minimum , 30 days

Get the dogs off his back.

Who knows maybe this is something Aldon wants, if so, more power to him.

Yeah. It's a move to lessen the punishment. If you want to clean up, there's no true time limit and it certainly doesn't happen in a few weeks.

Now it's become an "indefinite leave of absence." At least they aren't trying to put a timetable on his return. I hope he's going for himself instead of someone else forcing him into it. Rehab doesn't work out too well when you won't acknowledge that you have a problem.

Nice, Aldon is getting charged with three felony firearm charges. Maybe he'll end up as Hernandez's cellmate? lol

Let me get this straight, the incident involving the weapons occurred in June of 2012 which means it happened BEFORE the beginning of last season. How does that work? You get busted with a small arsenal of illegal weapons and then are allowed to work and make millions of dollars over the course of an entire NFL season? That doesn't seem right at all...
