Arrest / Fine / Suspension Thread

I mean, they do have precedent that there is some truth to that. Hines Ward was caught red-handed driving his car up over a curb drunk in Georgia and somehow got out of it scott free.

He did have to answer to Jarret Johnson and Ray Lewis, though

Isn't it ironic that all these people that can afford chaffeurs have DUI/DWI charges?

Even more so when most teams have a year round pick-up service.

You phone up the number they give you, say who you are, where you are and where you're going. Bam, ride paid for by your team.

They should start handing out suspensions for EVERY arrest that they are proved guilty of. I don't care if it's 1 game, 4 games or whatever, but there NEED to be some punishment. Doesn't matter if you get arrested for spitting on the sidewalk in some state that it's not allowed, no exceptions.

The teams are paying their players so high salaries that they should be able to stay out of trouble.

how about for crimes they are suspected of but there is no evidence what so ever.....should there be suspensions for that

Damn, I need to get that number since no one's using it, apparently.

Ahmad Brooks of the Niners may be in some trouble with the law after apparently breaking a beer bottle over teammate and former Raven Lamar Divens' head last month. Apparently Divens was concerned about Brooks ability to drive while intoxicated and the scuffle broke out over Brooks' keys with Brooks apparently proclaiming "do I need to get my (expletive) gun" before assaulting poor Lamar with the beer bottle. Two other unnamed Niners apparently gave statements confirming as much.

Kudos for Divens for trying to do the right thing if that's true and stupid of Brooks to get in trouble after a teammate is trying to do the right thing by him.

SMH at the NFC West in general lol

Wow unbelievable. Brooks is an idiot and should be released by the 49ers. Guess he didn't learn from Josh Brent who drove drunk and killed his own team mate and an innocent person. It's amazing that the Santa Clara prosecutor is even saying that he is "considering" charging him or not. If this was any of us, we already be in jail. Yet Brooks does this and he doesn't know what to do.

Even he fears Jim Harbaugh...

Wow. What happens if Divens just allows him to go on his way?

Then he gets arrested for a DUI, gets a slap on the wrist, and doesn't miss any games.  Status Quo.

Well, in a worst case scenario he does damage to his vehicle and or someone else's vehicle and or someone else as in the Donte Stallworth case.

It's not just the players making the headlines:

Broncos exec arrested for DUI after hitting police car

http://usat.ly/16koHaj

Didn't someone mention a door-to-door service for these sorts of situations?

Even though ESPN and NFL will go through the motions to appear as if they are making it big news, I don't expect a chain reaction of conversations re: staff personnel just yet this time.

The best by far on that list is:

Adrian Peterson, arrested for resisting arrest.

Well, he is a star running back. ;)

Does anyone know if there's a record for the number of players being arrested in one off-season? Because I feel like each year, there's more arrests...

What's crazy to me is not the number of players in the league getting arrested (it's only about 1% and counting I think), it's the things that they're getting in trouble for.  DUIs are a big deal, so is assault and almost anything weapon/gun related.  Oh by the way, so is murder and arranging murder.

Yeah, and it also feels like at least two or three players have been arrested for trying to bring weapons on planes. Like, really?! They won't let you take 3.2 oz of shampoo with you, but they're totes cool with a switchblade? Logic FAIL.

I mean't 1% since the start of the calender year in case that was unclear.  Whoops.  That number is likely to increase though.
