Who Is On Your All Time Ravens Team?

Ok so the question should be

Who was/is better in their prime? J-Lew or Lil Ray?
Has Ray hit his prime yet?

Jamal was GREAT during his earlier career but the tread on those tires ran out really quick - be it because of injury, the fact that he was the only offensive weapon, etc.
And, lastly, I noticed a lot of you moved guys around in positions, just to bring them into the team. Neither Rod Woodson or Ed Reed played Strong Safety, so I believe that you should have to choose one for Free Safety and leave Woodson off the list.
Ed Reed was a SS. I believe his DPOY season was as a Strong Safety.

You should check out just how poor our passing offenses were during Jamal's prime. He didn't even have a quarterback we could trust to throw a proper check-down pass. None of Jamal's passing offenses finished better than 20th in the league, while the worst passing offense Rice has ever had to work with finished 18th in the league. I'll always take Jamal over Ray, because I truly believe if Jamal had the supporting cast Ray did, and wasn't worn out so much, he would have put up staggering numbers.

It would really depend on what kind of offense you played, but I would have to take Jamal over Ray. He was such a punishing runner. He punished defenders in a way that Rice could never dream of.

I'm surprised at all of the selections of Jamal Lewis over Ray Rice. I couldn't have been the only one frustrated w/ Jamal Lewis tip-toeing when he got to the line??
because Ray Rice doesnt???????!!!!

I needed to make my point there, he is awful for that!

The other question I have is, are you basing these selections on their time as Baltimore Ravens? Also, I think most of you are also lowering a player's score in your heads and hearts, based on what you expected from them. You are all knocking down Michael Oher, who actually made the Pro Bowl as a Right Tackle over Zeus, who had decent years here and in Cleveland, made a lot of stupid penalties and some real monster blocks. And, lastly, I noticed a lot of you moved guys around in positions, just to bring them into the team. Neither Rod Woodson or Ed Reed played Strong Safety, so I believe that you should have to choose one for Free Safety and leave Woodson off the list.
Ed Started as a Strong Safety then slide of to FS as he got older

I wonder, what does everyone think is the weakest position (on defense?) It seems Sharper for the second inside linebacker is probably the weakest link.

I agree. Jamal might be the more punishing RB, but he was nowhere near the overall offensive threat at any point in his career that Rice is now. Rice has the potential to have games with both 100 yards rushing and 100 yards passing. Rice is an unique talent. Lewis was very good and had one great season. Sadly that type of runner is a dinosaur these days. With defenses more slanted to the pass these days, Jamal if in his prime now would destroy these guys.
Jamal's QBs:

Kyle Boller - in 3 full years starting at Cal, completed an astounding 47, 49, and 53 percent of his passes (I'm not even going to mention his NFL stats because I STILL can't figure out why we drafted him when he was so bad at Cal).

Jeff Blake - career 56 percent passer

Chris Redman - 53 percent completion in 6 starts as a Raven

Anthony Wright - same as Redman

For his career, Jamal averaged 8.5 yards per reception, Ray Rice 8.9 - so pretty close. The difference is in the quality of quarterbacks. The ONLY quarterback Jamal ever had who completed at over 56 percent of his passes at all in one season was McNair. Rice averages about twice as many receptions a season as Jamal did during his career - that's a product of our overall offense being better IMO, not a reflection on the two players' quality as pass-catchers. In his first 3 seasons Jamal caught exactly 100 passes. In 3 years starting Rice has about 220 passes, and caught 30 passes his rookie season as a backup - as a full time starter Jamal had 30+ receptions only 3 times in 8 seasons - twice in Baltimore and once in Cleveland.

Berad - You are right about Ed Reed being the SS back in the early years. I forgot that we had Will Demps and he wasn't tough enough to play SS, so Ed played out of position for four years. Thanks for the update.

Ed won DPOY at SS. Something i always like to remind Steelers fans when they try to say you can't compare Ed to Polamolu since they now play different positions.

Ok I'm just going to substitute a few people.

FB - Sam Gash
RG - Grubbs ( played rookie year )
RT - Yanda ( rookie year & 2010)
CB - replace Cary Williams with one of the following. Antonio Langham, Josh Wilson , the old Deion Sanders ( yeah I'd rather that version of Deion over Cary after all its my 5th CB and I'd love to see Deion and Rod Woodson together.

Ngata is listed as a RE right now but it means little Ngata barely ever lines up in the same position for more than one series. He rotates across the D-Line, and for the first 5 years of his career he started at RDT, RDE, NT, LDE, RDE ( pro-football reference.com). Similar to Suggs whom is listed as a LB has played RDE, Lolb, Rolb, and lets not forget how his contract dispute years ago was based on the fact that he constantly played with his hand on ground as if he were full time DE lol.

Lets just say Ravens like Versatility.

See Yanda RT and RG, Adalius Thomas & Jarrett Johnson played everything along the front 7 of the defense.

- Oh Sam Gash was great to. It was close between him, Leach and McClain(really "stepped Mike Anderson up" the season McGahee went down)
- I just benched Grubbs because i like Yanda as a RG in combo with RT Osemele a bit more.
-Of course i would pick "Cowboys Prime Time" over Cary Williams all-day BUT i compared the int's and Williams had 4 in one season, Deion a total of five in two seasons.
Imagine Deion in his prime and Woodson in his prime as our CB's!
Haha they would never throw a ball to them. And in the middle Ballhawk Reed is waiting too :D
- Yea maybe Pollard is a better option as Backup as Landry...What was i thinkin'!
