Computer Games...I Need Ideas

19 posts in this topic

So i finally got a laptop again, nothing special, some samsung on clearance. Well ive been wanting to find a game to play and have never been into PC games. Back in the day i loved command and conquer but i want to try something new. I was thinking like age of empires, civilization, or some game called tropico. Im sure you can tell the type of games im interested in....i dont want to get into, half life, call of duty, or anything like that. Im just looking for some ideas of games kind of like the ones ive mentioned. So please if you have any ideas throw them out there and it would be helpful if you give me your opinion on what you think of them

sidenote, ive never played age of empires or civilization...so if you have played them feel free to voice your opinion on those

thanks
charles

AoE II is 13 years old but it's still awesome. Depending on the specs for you laptop, something like CoD might not work (depending on what version of CoD it is). You may also like Minecraft, another old game.

i dont want any of those call of duty, rainbow six type games. going to stick with command and conquer style. So whats the poing of AoE 2, i dont really get what its about and how it works, is it like a sim city with soldiers?

The format is similar to Command and Conquer. It's based in the Middle Ages. You have to build civilizations and defend yourself from other civilizations. You collect resources with villagers then you can use towards building castles and an army. It can be time consuming. More here.

If you like strategy then get Company of Heroes and the sequels

It's superb. Very much like Command and Conquer, you could spend hours on some missions struggling mightily to get the upper hand

The Total War series is good, Shogun 2 is enjoyable. Need some good specs to play it though

Stronghold Crusader is good too

It's like Age of Empires
It's over a decade old now so any laptop should be able to play it no problem

Has just the perfect balance between challenging and too difficult

It's by far the best in the series, the others are not great at all

Excellent game. The Medival Total War games aren't bad, either.

AoE is great, I personally like the second one more than the third.

Anyone ever played Total Annihilation?
