Seems a bit sketchy to me. From what it sounds like he did nothing wrong except be out past midnight >.>

I was suprised when I saw this today. I'm sure he didn't do anything wrong. He's just as good guy of a guy as player.

Whenever someone gets arrested for "resisting arrest" I doubt they are guilty of something noteworthy. When a murderer gets caught, he's going to resist arrest, but they're always going to charge him with murder. Same with anything major. When you're charged with resisting arrest, it means that's the most noteworthy thing you did was not believe you belong in handcuffs, which is hardly anything at all. Why is it illegal to not want to go to jail?

You just can't shove cops around. You know this. Not saying I would never resist arrest, lol. It's just the rules.

Yeah, the latest PFT version says:

"The manager of the bar told TMZ that Peterson was very drunk and a difficult customer all night."

"...pushed the officer in the shoulder, causing him to stumble."

"The police say it took three officers to handcuff Peterson."

Yeah, pushing cops and resisting arrest while very drunk in public... bad idea. He may be a "good guy" but he wasn't acting very wisely last night.

Off-duty cop in street clothes who, as far as I can make out from the story, never made it clear that he was an officer attempted to arrest him.

I'd have probably done the same as Peterson, after telling the guy to something off.

I don’t believe AP should have been out at this hour – especially since he’s supposed to be rehabbing his knee. However, this initial report doesn’t give me an explanation why he was arrested and charged with resisting arrest.

JO Is that you???

Resisting arrest is a secondary charge. Cops can't just walk up to people and say "you're under arrest for resisting arrest".

The thing I was trying to say though, is resisting arrest isn't that bad of a charge. And if that's what the reports are, it means whatever they actually wanted to arrest him for was even less than a resisting arrest charge. Otherwise they would've reported that.

I don't always trust cops' motives, so when someone's resisting arrest, I don't automatically assume they were truly guilty of something that they should be locked away for.

Too many different stories and not enough information to make a judgement here. But from how it sounds, AP may have really dropped the ball on this one :P

He was prolly acting a fool, they asked him to leave, and he dialed up the fool factor and started putting hands on people. Off duty cops act as bouncers all the time, what with thier crappy salaries and all. Go figure....folks that put thier lives on the line for us get paid a tiny fraction of what other guys get paid to run with an inflatable ball in thier hands, lol. Oh the irony when the two meet...,,..especially after midnight. Nothing good EVER happens then....or so some think.

Me too, the first report I read was that the cops came and asked people to leave, and AP wanted a bottle of water before he left and the cop told him he had to leave and that the cops jumped AP without reason to do so, now there is this report he was drunk and a "difficult customer"? Sounds like the bar manager or whoever said AP was drunk and difficult to deal with, doesn't like AP and sees this as an opportunity to get free publicity by saying this.

Sucks to see such a clean profile finally get some spots, hopefully it won't affect his season at all.

I was shocked by this, I never would have pegged AP as one who would get caught in a questionable situation. You'd think players would just give up alcohol until their career is over, or drink at home.

Too much money...Too much free time....Wrong place at the wrong time? From experience in the Balt club scene being out at 2:53 am trouble will find you!
