Fixed for ya. ;)

Fixed it myself, thanks. Cursona is like that one guy who loved Troy Smith and defended him to end of the earth, except Cursona is just defending Cundiff to the end of the earth.

I think the last time I defended Cundiff was the middle of last season and even then I only said I doubt the FO would replace their kicker that late in to the season. I've always been kinda sceptical of his miraculous 2010 season.

The media seems to think this is Cundiff's job to lose and he hasn't done enough to lose it yet. It will go down to the wire but they think Cundiff will get the nod. I tend to agree.

Yeah, have this eery feeling that Cudiff doesnt get the boot. It will make me sick if we cut Tucker, then someone else signs him and he goes on to have a stellar career. A bit dramatic? Yes...

Still will piss me off to no end!

I think the media and you are in for a surprise. I gotta believe that without some huge reversal of form, Justin Tucker will be the Ravens' new place kicker. Billy did enough last year to lose the job.

That's one of the worst excuses I have ever heard. It was a freaking 32 yarder. I had a high school teammate make a 35 yarder, in pouring rain, 32 degrees, and on a grass field. If a HS kicker can make a kick in those circumstances, why can't Cundiff make an easier kick? Cundiff has no excuses.

Also, Tucker has never missed a 4th quarter kick.
Cundiff has never missed at home or missed in the 4th quarter. Except the one pats game. Plus Im sure your high school buddy had time to kick. Also I believe in high school the posts are diffrent.

I have to say after seeing Tucker smash that 50 yard kick I want him as our kicker over Billy and will take the growing pains as they come. Power like that doesnt come along every day and plus he could be molded into the new Stover.

I have such mixed feelings about this debate.

I think Cundiff is an upright guy and his story from nothing to that great season he had here was awesome.

However, I've come to the sad conclusion that the stand out season he had here was the anomaly and not the norm. Tucker, so far, has earned the nod over Cundiff. Both in pre-season and practice. While I hate losing games, I think we really need to work these guys next game regardless if it makes us lose.

I think Harbs messed up personally. Cundiff should have been out there attempting long FGs to show he deserves to stay. I also have to say, I have never, ever, ever, seen a more perfectly executed onsides kick. In area where I believe Cundiff also struggles. Someone mentioned Tuckers shorter kick-offs however, Harbs had instructed the kickers to kick short so the coverage could get some reps. Perhaps Billy just has that long kickoff to his name and no real control in his kick at all since he obviously did not heed his coach's request.

Sorry about that, all this talk about being Clutch got me mixed up and I accidently said Clutch by mistake. This whole thing about who is clutch just got to me and I wasn't thinking. Sorry Cursona, I mean Clutch. :)

Never missed at home or never missed in the 4th? Missing in the 4th regardless home or away is still missing on the road. Plus he missed a game tying FG. Why do you keep saying how he didn't have time? I understand Harbs should have called a timeout but Cundiff should have been paying attention to what is going on in the game, know what down it was and the situation. If he was, he would have had time to make the kick and be prepared to rush out there.

Even if we keep Cundiff I still don't want to see Tucker go away and then end up kicking our butts on some other NFL team if not this year or next year.

Cundiff's home field goal record is 75 / 92 = 81.5% ...
17 misses. Don't know where you got zero from.

He's 33 / 35 at home as a Raven, which is good, but also doesn't qualify as "never missed at home".

He's 33 / 39 in the 4th quarter or overtime. 6 misses there, again, don't know where you got "never missed in the 4th quarter" from. These numbers don't count post-season, by the way. Just regular season (so the miss in the AFCCG doesn't count here).

Your defense of Cundiff doesn't seem based in reality to me, as you go on spouting untrue "facts".

I really hope Ozzie can step in and said few words to Harbs for keeping Tucker on 53 man roster; if Harbs is so manlove with Cundiff, I'm ok with 2 kickers on the team.

PS: as long as we didn't release Tucker, I'm happy with it.......cuz in the mid season if Cundiff screws us up again or even worse in the playoff run, we still have Tucker to replace him.....

I'll be even more mad than when we decide to keep Cam around.....

I honestly think Harbs will give Tucker a real shot at winning the Kicking battle on Thursday. I think Tucker will get the first KO and FGA. I think they will alternate like they did Friday, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them alternate Quarters instead of attempts.

When Tucker started making kicks in practice, I really think the coaches just wanted to see him making game time kicks before they started to run with the idea of Tucker being the guy. Then once he looked good in game one, they wanted to make sure Billy had a fair shot at winning the job with game time kicks as well.

After the 2 kicks, plus the onside Kick last week, I think the Ravens are sold in Tucker. I think they wanna see how he handles being the guy in this battle and that's why I think they'll give him the opportunity to Kick with the 1st team. Tucker has done well for himself as the underdog rookie fighting for a job. Now lets see if he can handle being the man, while continues to be consistent.

That's about the only other pressure situation I can see the Ravens throwing at Tucker, save for a game winning Kick on Thursday.

If this is a competition, then Tucker wins barring total collapse. The question is, is this a competition?
I think it is. The coaches know you put your best players on the field.

I hope so. Cundiff doesn't seem to think it is, nor do some media I've heard. It would make sense for Billy to downplay it though.

I agree.

The only advantage of choosing Cundiff is that he is experienced (and maybe his KO, but that is debatable and with the new KO-rules maybe a bit obsolete). Cundiff has been out-kicked by far during training camp, no doubt about that and I would really like to hear anyone who disputes that. To me experience is knowing when you can make the kick or you feel too uncomfortable kicking (maybe because you were rushed, not mentally ready etc.). But Cundiff didn't take the time out. That gives me two scenarios:
a) Despite his experience he felt rushed, but didn't take the time out. This means he doesn't have the cool/overview over his own abilities therefore his experience is non valid.
B) He didn't felt rushed. He said so himself in an interview after the game and felt that he could make the kick. He didn't. This means he doesn't have the leg.

I am rooting for Tucker. This isn't personal. I just want the best team. If he can't be succesful here I want him to be succesful another place (maybe not the steelers).

I don't see us carrying two kickers. We might carry three quarterbacks, more receivers than usual and maybe more runningbacks so in general we are lacking roosterspots.

Fresh from twitter:

"Before practice, safeties Ed Reed & Bernard Pollard both attempted some field goals. Reed was good from 35 yards."

Literally anybody on the team could do Billies job better. -_-

To be fair to Billy, he showed up today...

"Billy Cundiff made kicks from 29, 34, 41, 52, 58 and 61. Justin Tucker went 5 for 6. Missed his 61-yard attempt wide right. #Ravens -- Goob Kris Jones (@RavenManiac)"

Kind of bummed to read this. Know it sounds weird/bad, but I just hope one or two days of "Billy showing up" doesnt play with the minds of Harbaugh and Co.

Its Tucker! Always has been Tucker and needs to be Tucker!

I doubt they judge much from these kicks. If this what I think it is they use a metal "holder" and are basically by themselves, no snap no hold, kick it when they want. Kind of like a kick off............

Everyone always talks about how the NFL is a business. All things being equal Tucker is a heck of a lot cheaper than Cundiff. I think that will be the tie breaker.

Also, during the Lions game when their field goal kicker came in they mentioned he's been with them for 20+ years. It would be nice to go with Tucker and (hopefully) have our kicker situation settled for the next two decades. Cundiff is 32 or 33 afterall.
