No way Cundiff gets cut in the 1st round of cuts. They had a kicking battle in 2010 for a reason and they're gonna keep both kickers until the very last cut for that reason.

This is a much later reply to this post than most I've read. I'm typing this just after watching the Lions preseason game in which Justin nailed a 50 yarder. I know that Billy converted a 33 and 44, I think it was, but everybody knows that Billy's in trouble at 50 yards. It is just So obvious that Tucker has outperformed Cundiff in this competition. There is just No way I can possibly imagine that Tucker is not our kicker this year. Goodbye, Billy. We just Have to be the 9th team to cut this man. The team and its fans deserve better. Welcome aboard, Justin. Harbs, make it official. Do the right thing. It's time. We have more important things to concentrate on than dragging this decision on and on and on. Do it, Harbs. Make us all happy.

Cundiff's kickoffs went farther than Tucker's, but Tucker's the better FG kicker by a mile. Either Tucker needs to get some more distance on kickoffs, or our Special Teams coverage needs to get better, preferably both.

Tucker is only a rookie. He'll build more leg strength as he stays in the League. Cundiff should be far more accurate for what the Ravens are paying him and he hasn't been. Special Teams does need a BIG boost though lol

In the post game presser Harbs said that the Kickers were instructed to "NOT" kick the ball into the endzone so KO coverage could get work.

So one could argue that Tucker did a better job of following directions haha.

Naw seriously, I started out liking Tucker because I was just intrigued with the guy. I'll be honest, the Cundiff miss really had me checking for Tucker. However now that I've seen him Kick in practice and in 2 preseason games, I feel even stronger about his ability to be our Kicker, Now and beyond.

I know Billy made both of his kicks this game, and I applaud him, However Tucker just seems to give off more confidence imo. Even though neither Kicker missed, Tucker just seemed more accurate to me. Plus the Onsides Kick was great.

For the people who wanted to see Tucker handle pressure, you're not gonna get much more pressure then a 50 yarder on your first attempt off the bench, in front of the home crowd, while responding to the earlier make of Cundiff, that's about as good as it gets for a preseason game.

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel even more comfortable about having Tucker as the kicker, and I never even had a problem to begin with.

Not making accuses, but you also have to consider that Tucker has been Kicking constantly for the better part of 12-14 months, so it's not at all uncommon for a rookie Kicker or any rookie for that matter to experience some fatigue early on.

While Billy was resting and getting his head together, Tucker was Kicking for teams and scouts(coaching himself) hoping to get drafted or invited to a camp. Then after he got the try out, he came striaght in and continued to Kick.

Cundiff's kicks always seem to just sneak in.

Tucker hammers it down the middle.

They all count the same, but I feel a heckuva lot better watching Tucker kick.

Well it is incarceratedbob. But hey, if the Jets want Cundiff more power to them. I feel really bad for him though, because you KNOW with Sanchez throwing the ball he's going to have to try way more than just the 7 50+ yard attempts he had last year.

[*]All I'm saying is this... Cundiff was iffy all last year... and several times his kicks barely squeezed in from 45 yards as far as distance goes. I dont want to take a chance on someone like cundiff any more. Tucker is confident and used to kicking in clutch situations. Never missed in 4th quarter.... ever! Used to kicking in front of 100,000 + Texas football fans... that is'nt easy if your weak minded. I think this kid is a real find... you can see it in his eyes. Cundiff always has this sigh of relief on his face when he makes a 35 yarder... like.... i'm so glad that went through... phew!!! There is just no reason to keep an average kicker around... I'm a very firm believer in... you are only as strong as your weakest link... and cundiff is our weak link!! Tucker your IN... cundiff your OUT! or wide left however you wanna say it!!!

The Jets can have him for a conditional 7th that turns into a 4th if he goes back to the Pro Bowl.
"I don't think my mentality has really changed. The way the coaches have approached me, the way everybody in the organization has approached me, is if I kick well, this is my job,” Cundiff said. “Even at the end of the season last year after we were up in New England, [coach John Harbaugh] looked at me and said, 'Yeah, you'll be fine.' And then the next day I talked to him and he said, 'If you kick well in training camp, this is your job and you're the guy.'

Again, I'm holding myself to the same standard I did in 2010. I've been meeting that and exceeding it. I feel like training camp has been going well for me."

“I think my misses in practice were from 52, 56, 58, 60 [yards] -- those kind of things. You're really judged by the kicks that you're supposed to make."
That really irks me man. He thinks that he's not supposed to make kicks from 50+?, Those are just "for fun" kicks or something? What kind of mentality is that? You're supposed to make every kick you line up for in a game. It's your job. You get paid millions of dollars to do so. And you missed 17 kicks in training camp, if that is "going well for you" then it must have gone stellar for Tucker since he only missed 5.

Cundiff's comments this offseason have actually made me like him even less than the grudge I held after the kick, which might eventually passed but this won't.

Tucker has surpassed him in every category so far, I will be severely disappointed and lose faith in the front office if they cut Tucker and keep Cundiff based on the fact that Tucker has very much outperformed Cundiff, it wouldn't make any sense.

Tucker , i believe locked his job in last night.

Dude is simply amazing, i know alot of people stopped watching after the 3rd quarter.

So if anyone missed it, he did an amazing job on the on side kick that we recovered.

And i think we have him, RAVENS Front Office would be stupid to let him go or if for some dumb reason , if we were to keep two kickers ( which we have done before) we wouldn't use him because he is a rookie.

This guy is solid and im very, very excited about him. I think alot of people are because lets be honest, Field Goals have kept us from winning games. From the Seahawks game to the AFC Championship.

So other Fans from other N.F.L teams might not think its a big deal having a good kicker but us RAVENS Fans do not take the Kicking game for granted and i don't think we will for a long time.

To be honest, it was pretty sad Last season that i was crossing my finger, knocking on wood and being nervous when we were even kicking 39 yard F.G. And we would miss them too, ( Seattle )

So to me TUCK is a gift from the Football Gods and he will help us to the S.B this.

Hold on, wait a minute, i take that back. They actually signed Tebow. Yea the Jets would be dumb enough to take him.

I would just like to point out that Tucker's kickoffs were not meant to reach the end zone, because the coaches wanted to give the special teams opportunities to cover kickoffs. With that said, team tucker is alive and thriving.
