Merged: Justin Tucker

760 posts in this topic

Billy Cundiff went 3/6 today and missed from 28 yards (high snap) and 38 yards. He was wide left on a 52-yard attempt. Justin Tucker was 6/7 today. He also missed from 52 yards but nailed that same kick on his second try.
How's that? Arrg!

Lol don't. People made Cundiff jerseys in 2010 and I'm sure they are all burned :(.
I'm gonna keep my hat still.

Well I did too but all I did was take two Boller jerseys, put duct tape over Boller and wrote in Black Marker Cundiff so all I have to do is rip the tape off and their back to Boller Jerseys lol.

My brother did the same thing. #7 must have some curse in Baltimore.

Yeah but I'm confident that I will be able to make a customized Justin Tucker jersey and he'll still be our Kicker 10 years from now. He has shown way too much not to be our Franchise Kicker.

Ugh I hate people on facebook. People are telling Cundiff to go die and hang himself. It's so terrible. No one deserves that.

From an article earlier today on BR.com:

Harbaugh attributed the 28-yard miss to a high snap.
“I think sometimes when you have bad conditions, the kicker will slow down to account for the possibility of a bad snap plus a plant foot sliding,” Harbaugh said.
“So, a high snap like that in good conditions, he really didn’t expect that he was out in front of it, and that’s why he missed it. You still need to make it, but it makes it tougher.”

My question is why is Harbs trying to defend Cundiff? The answer to that makes me feel a little sick to my stomach, so much so I can't even say it! But if Harbs chooses Cundiff over Tucker, he better get used to having to defend him.

Harbs is on a EGO trip again, just like how he acts when something is brought up about Cam. Nothing but excuses. If we lay flat this year, i can't wait to see what he will say, it will be priceless and i know the Owner will not be eating what the H.C is serving.

One reason that bothers me about Harbaugh is he will try anything to defend guys like Cundiff and Cam. Its clear to all of us they can't get the job done. Please Tucker win this battle, I have no faith what so ever in Billy "I can't kick from the hashmark " Cundiff.

People are crazy. In the end does it really matter who wins the football game. We are all human. Lots of football players are great people for the community they should not be told to die.

I agree. Dying and harsh jokes are going too far. People will say anything to relieve themselves of stress but when someone else does it, it's a different story.

I hope Cundiff continues his NFL career, just not in Baltimore.

Cundiff definitely belongs as a kicker...in Canada. Maybe Shakespeare can help him get a job there.

The poor day by Billy today might seal the deal. You can't miss a 24 and 34 yarder in a heated kicking battle. There is little room for error.

Yup, that might be all she wrote

If missing 24 and 34 yard field goals in practice doesn't lose you the job. I honestly don't know what will!
Well, I would agree that it's not looking good for Cundiff, but I don't think today's misses means he done or that they will be making any decision anytime soon. After all, if Tucker shanks a couple of Friday night, a lot of people's opinions are likely to change.

Again, at this point, Tucker has certainly been better, but there's still a long way to go before any final decision is going to be made.

harbugh making excuses saying one was a high snap
Harbaugh also said it was a kick that Cundiff has to make, even if the high snap made it more difficult. I really don't see that as making an excuse.
if tucker doesnt win it, we all know harbugh had no intention of ever releasing cundiff

I agree with Arnie, if Cundiff somehow stays then its clear Harbaugh is behind it.
It all will depend on how they both kick throughout TC and the PS, not just after 2 weeks.

As far as picking Cundiff over Tucker, it was just 2 years ago that Shayne Graham was the odds of favorite to win the PK job because of his experience and the contract he was given, but he was outkicked by Cundiff. Harbaugh made the right choice at that time and took Cundiff, so I don't know why he wouldn't do the same now if Tucker continues to outperform Cundiff.

Billys career stats aren't good. Tuckers stats(of what he has) all around are good . This is no coincidence. Billy is past his prime and never showed any potential except at pinning it back on kickoffs which is now obsolete with the changes. I see Tucker as our franchise kicker for years to come.

Does anyone know if Tucker is on a 3 or 4 year deal now or is it just a 1 year deal as of now?
Tucker signed a 3-year contract, with minimum base salaries of $390K (2012), $480K (2013) and $570K (2014) and no signing bonus. He would be a RFA in 2015 if he's still on the team.

Because most HC's show public support for their players most of the time. Harbaugh is no different than about 90% of the HC in the league in that regard.

But, he most certainly did say that Cundiff should have made it, so I'm not sure that it's really that much of a defense.

Yea Harbs was answering a question, it wasn't like he was defensive and made it a point to give a reason why Cundiff missed a kick. My guess is that it was a pretty bad miss, which is why the reporter brought it up. It probably was a high snap and Billy pulled it, reminding people of the AFC Championship game and a report asked Harbs about it.

I think fans get a little too sensitive and emotionally tied up into the results of camp. There was no hidden message, read between the lines, type deal with Harbs. He was asked a question and he answered. If Harbs was trying to make excuses for Cundiff, he would have started doing it a week and a half ago, because Cundiff have been missing a good deal of kicks since camp started.

Cundiff missed from 24 yards. Scrub. I'll never trust him again. 24 should be the straw that's breaks everyone's back.

Pirate?

24 yards missed? that is a joke. The majority of middle school athletes can kick a field goal spotted at the 14 yard line lol

noob question. 4th down on the 20. 20 yards to the EZ. what distance of a kick is that? im assuming the EZ is 10 yards deep, so thats 30 yards to the posts, do they include the distance the ball is snapped as well? or is it just 30 yards

Includes the distance snapped, so most likely a 37 yarder

As a rule of thumb, just add 17 yards to the spot of the ball.
