When has kobe not been in great shape? Pau is inconsistent, but thats not due to his age. Howard will allow him to play his game.

Kobe is in great "shape" but has had a few injuries over the years.. It's obvious he's not kobe at all anymore

Well I don't follow the NBA all that much, but Durant, LBJ and Chris Paul were the best today. And I should also add Kevin Love to the mix. Without him, I don't think they wouldve won. He was just so key with the rebounds.

He's not Kobe from 5 years ago, but he is still a top 5 player in the NBA. Did you miss the fact that he almost led the league in scoring this past season?

How many shots did he take? Plenty

And really what other non forward on that team last year could score at all...

He's still a top player in the league but not what he was.. That was my only point

Yeah, he shot a lot and he had to. That wont be the case with Nash and Dwight. The game will come much easier now.

Chandler was good, but even he struggled defending Gasol. And he was always in foul trouble. But in this game, who wasn't in foul trouble. That was some of the worst officiating I've seen in a while. I was surprised they called Gasol for the moving screen. That almost never gets called. Whether it's college or NBA, that happens a lot and for some reason it's never called. I think in the last few minutes, the refs allowed them to play, but that was too little too late. And Kobe was alright. He did defend the 3 well in the second half. But I wouldn't say he was a key factor. Anyways, I'm sorry to have high jacked this thread. Get back to the NBA talk.

Anyone think Howard will sign long-term in L.A.?? I think that he will come to his senses, but he's been all over the place so it's hard to guess.

I think he will. Unless Brooklyn offers him a contract he couldn't deny I see him staying in L.A.

First he gets a Celtics tattoo and now Jason Terry guarantees Boston will win the title next season. Crazy...

NBA season kicks off next week. ESPN just capped off an epic list ranking the top 500 players in the league that's worth checking out.

I'd love to see Wall win the "Most Improved" award. He could definitely be among the top 6-7 PGs with some legitimate help around him.

Heat,Thunder or Lakers. - I'd bet everything I have that one of those teams will win it all.
Don't forget about Boston. They may have lost Allen, but they reloaded with Terry and Sullinger. They should be right back in the conference finals, and will probably give the Heat a fight again.

I don't think KG has it in him again to do what he did last year. No one in the East is beating Miami.

Hopefully the Wizards can at least improve somewhat this year....Wall is out for the next 8 weeks though with an injury.

Wow, didn't know that about Wall... the Wizards are going to be a doormat once again. Very sad.

I resent that statement. It's only til Thanksgiving and the season doesn't even start til the end of this month. If everyone can stay healthy, this is a very talented team.

I'm not saying playoffs... but we're making the playoffs. And we'll drag all of you kicking and screaming towards victory!

Agreed, they have talent, but do they have the right coach and can they all come together?

I'm a Heat fan, so I don't really care, but I do have a soft spot for the Wizards (since they came from Baltimore)

Derrick Rose looks good in his rehab. If he comes back within a month or 2 the bulls will have another chance at that 1 seed.

He recently said he could miss the entire season:
In an interview with NBA TV's Steve Aschburner, Derrick Rose mentioned the possibility that he could miss the entire season as he recovers from knee surgery.

Rose is still targeting the All-Star break for a return and it's entirely possible it happens. But how much he'll be able to do in the last couple months of the season is still a huge question mark. We're advising owners to stay away in standard leagues, unless you have extremely deep benches. It's a simple strategy issue as anybody selecting Rose will have decreased ability to attend to their roster throughout the year. If your league starts to get into the 20-team range with a standard set of bench slots, then owners should consider stashing the former MVP.

What, no faith in Randy Wittman??? How dare you, sir.

All kidding aside, I have faith in him. He seems to hold everyone accountable, even for the tiniest mistakes. Just the type of coach the youngins need. He's not like Flip Saunders, who aside from his accolades, was a doormat for his players.
