Lakers have no bench whatsoever.. 4 old starters and a 7 foot center with back issues

Don't crown them yet

Exactly. Things have certainly gotten a lot more interesting but the Lakers aren't even a lock to make it past OKC in the West.

Nash is pretty old, Kobe is no spring chicken either, and who knows what's going on with Howard's back. I saw reports that said he's not going to sign an extension and will become a free agent, so, yeah.

Their bench scares me some, but I think they automatically go in the Heat,Thunder section as elite teams.

This. A hungry Durant is just giving a preview in the Olympics of how he will play next year. Another year of experience. Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka will all be better and I think Westbrook will improve his passing and cut back on erratic, emotional shots.

Doesn't matter though because the NBA is fixed.

Lakers are going to be really good. Dwight as a defensive anchor and pick and roll with Nash. Meanwhile Jamison is a good shooter and they still managed to keep Pau. Then there is this Kobe guy. That team is nasty nasty nasty.

I'm interested to see whether/if Kobe will alter his game to compensate the arrivals of Nash, Howard and the scorers. Nash should have no problem distributing the ball to Howard, Gasol and company effectively, but will Kobe be willing to seed the rock to him in crunch-time or take a diminished role for long stretches?

Antwan Jamison says hi. They're not done finishing the bench either. And Dwight is only like 6'10".

My Dad and I were watching the Olympics today after the big trade went down and we just shook our heads. Just way too much to wrap my head around. When they showed the entire process of who went where for this trade I was mind bottled. I think I'm just gonna stick to Olympic basketball. More fun to watch with one of the best college coaches of all time.

He's still a good option coming off the bench.

The Lakers Bench actually isnt terrible

Starting 5
PG - Steve "The Whiteboy" Nash
SG - Kobe " The [profanity deleted]" Bryant
SF - Metta World War III
PF: Pau Gasol
C: Dwight Superman Howard

This is a very strong defensive starting 5. Nash would be the only liability on here, but having a 3 time defensive player of the year will more than cover for it. Offensively you have a lot of weapons.

Bench
Steve Blaker
Antwan Jamison
Jordan Hill

Its not a great or deep bench but considering what that starting lineup should be able to do both offensively and defensively it should more than keep them in games.

And Shaq is Superman, not Dwight.

I wouldn't exactly call kobe or pau anything special on the defensive side anymore

And Nash is ____ awful on defense

Dwight will be the only one of that starting five under the age of 32. The Heat won it all with a gimpy D-Wade and Bosh - if they're totally healthy I don't see the Lakers matching up. That is, of course, if the Lakers get by the Thunder, who I think will make 3-4 finals over the next few seasons.

I'm guessing starts with a r and ends with ist. One of Big Ben's alleged off season workouts.

No way the Heat can match up with the Lakers inside. DH dominated the Heat last season on a much worse team.

Accused. Happened around 04 I think, before he changed his number to 24.

But DH is one player. The rest of that team is aging. Kobe last year shot his worst FG percentage since 04 and his worst 3 point percentage since 01. Granted it was a tough season last year with the lockout and the crunched schedule, but he's still 34 years old. Steve Nash is 38. Pau is 32. What is this team going to be like come playoff time? The Mavericks managed it with an aging team in 10-11, but can the Lakers do the same?

Yeah they are old, but all 3 of them are still playing at an elite level. Nash is a freak about his diet and staying fit. Kobe is always in great shape as well. Pau has showed no signs of breaking down

When has kobe not been in great shape? Pau is inconsistent, but thats not due to his age. Howard will allow him to play his game.
