So the infamous Jim Rome asked David Stern if the NBA lottery was set up.

Stern taking offense to this replied... "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

If Rome would have answered yes then it means he once beat his wife, if he answered no then it would have meant he still beats her.

So I think it's pretty clear here, 1: Rome has beat his wife, and 2: The NBA lottery is setup.

Lol.

Stephen A. Smith asked David Stern the same thing. And Rome explained on his TV show that Stern's comment was supposed to be something ridiculous as he was implying Rome's question was. Really, when you listen to how Stern answered, it's pretty clear that the lottery was fixed. No one who's innocent freaks out like that.

Stern is a crook. If a player made a response like that to a media employee what do you think would happen? He also skipped out on the interview, which I'm pretty sure players get fined for. Don't people think its weird that officials can't be criticized, but everyone else can? Why is it an officials can make a bad call that determines a game and the league can then say they were wrong after the fact, but when a player or coach says so after the game thy are fined. Refs get too much protection as well as the people they work for.

That was a low blow from Stern.

I don't think the lottery is fixed. You could spin an argument supporting that claim no matter which team got the #1 pick.

They do get criticized. The NBA refs work on a point system. After each game, the league goes back and reviews each officials and the calls they make. So when a official blows a call they lose points, which the point system is how they determine how many games each ref will work and also who gets work for the playoffs. I understand what your saying but the fact is its a human element of the game, you could literaly call a foul on every play if they wanted to, or a carry on a lot of dribbling, just like how holding happens in the nfl every play. I will say this though, durring the celtics heat series is the first time in my life i ever thought a game was fixed, the fouls they were calling on the celtics and not calling anything on the heat just was too lop sided to ignore, i mean 5 technicals in one game..come on. Its still happing with the heat against thunder.

anyways, the comments by stern was out of line and he should be fined. As the head of the NBA he needs to set better examples and he should understand that the question is completely legit and as a sports talk show host, Rome is obligated to discuss the topics on fans minds.

Agree on the Stern topic but still don't feel they do an ideal job picking officials for games, an example of this is Crawford being allowed to watch over ANY Tim Duncan game. It's obvious he doesn't like the Spurs yet seems to always be a head official during their playoff games. Most of us have seen the 02 Lakers Kings series, the doubt is already there and has been strengthened previously by calls Jordan got. The NBA is VERY suspect. I even questioned the NFL most recently in the Saints SB run. I'm not even a Favre fan, but a blind man could see what was happening. I honestly think had it not been for that game Favre would've gone out on top.

I do not have much love for Jim Rome but Stern was definitely unprofessional considering his status as a League Commissioner...I would have expected those comments from a Diva Athlete.

Oh i agree the refs have been terrible in the post season, i dont watch the regular season at all. Some of these calls are absolutley insane. Like when durant got a no call in game two and the end but yet lebron and wade are getting calls when they arent even touched.

and i completely agree with the favre game. I believe that was his year, i also think he was robbed of the mvp.

Also, is it just me or does it appear that the heat are getting special treatment...

They are. I would love to see what foul you get for throwing Wades shoe if it fell off in a game. They argue with refs, never get technicals and I'm not even getting into flopping again. I get it, they're stars but still. It seems almost every time it looks like a it could be a foul they get the call. This could be one of the best series EVER if they just let em play. This is nothing new though, I thought the Celtics should've beat the Lakers 2 or 3 years ago, we all know how that ended. The problem in sports is "star" treatment. When you start favoring only certain players the true fans of the sport will slowly stop watching, but who cares when the ratings are through the roof. I don't see any of this changing unless a player or level headed commissioner for football and basketball.

I was really pulling for the celtics even though i predicted a thunder heat finals. I cant remember what game it was when wade clearly jacked rondo in the face, he misses the layup, then wade gets a layup and the foul. completely changed the game becuase there was about a minute left i think. I dont get why durant doesnt get these calls, hes a top 3 player in the league (lebron and kobe), he should of gotten the call in game 2 and he shouldnt be getting these non existant fouls called on him. This will never change, theres no way to take the human element out of officiating, baseball i think you could, but i hate baseball so i really dont care. Why would they fix something in there mind that isnt broken, NBA is a world wide sport and makes billions a year, they can afford to lose the diehard fans because thats not where the money is
