he wants $10mil more guaranteed over the life off the deal i think is what he wanted, or else he wanted 10mil per year, every year. We could pay him 12 this year then 2 every other year. thats more than the tag, you think he'd sign that?
I meant for this year alone. The tag hit is around 7 mil versus the 10 mil a year he's looking for. (it was actually a back-up response to Tiz saying about the cap hit being more with the tag).

I thought I'd hear we'd offered Foster money and he turned it down. I really think that's a fair deal.
its the fairest deal he is likely to get. Maybe an extra few mil guaranteed but not much

Wow I wrote it out what you were false on and you still fail to read
And yes i am in the pay the man category. No he isn't Adrian Peterson, he is more marshal Faulk.

Ray, again has broken 2k yards from scrimmage twice.
Adrian none, really close once tho.

Ray and his 12 rushing tds matches what Adrian did last yr and the yr before
Rays rushing yards beat Adrian In both those yrs.
Rushing yards they both are hitting 1200 and 1300 consistently
Adrian broke 100 yards 3 times last
Rice did it 6 times
Even the Yr before Adrian did it 5 times
So if Adrian got a big contract and was viewed as the standard after his 2010 campaign
Why shouldn't a guy who produced equal numbers rushing and more receiving not be considered just as valuable

Rice easily beats Adrian as a wr
So yes if it's about football players value and you are using Adrian as your standard then yes your paying the guy who is just as dangerous as moving the ball and just as valuable to his offense.

The holdout part of your comment only becomes relevant if rice misses preseason but if he is paid now no holdout happens and the comparison with Chris is absolutely irrelevant
You are not comparing apples to apples. I say that when we have inches to move the ball and teams stack the box for the run, Rice can't move the pile. Yes, I know Ray is not that kind of back, he is more of the hide behind the lineman and break through the hole because he is a small powerful man, like Sproles and Jones-Drew. Compile those stats, because I know what I saw. Please read what I am referring too before you go off on something I am not referring to. If it is third down and two, we may be spreading things out to keep the defenses honest and then yes my money is on Rice. Personally, I want Joe locked up before Rice, because I feel he is more valuable to the team and I just don't want to break the bank on a running back who is playing for the big contract. My personal opinion is that guys like Rice take a serious beating every year and MOST wear down quickly. Again, don't trust the that trend to break the bank on one. And yes, I like the more smashmouth kind of backs like AP and Jamal Lewis and Larry Johnson in their prime. But that is just my personal preference. I wanted LeRon to get more carrys, I was on his committee :) I liked that guy a lot, but I really love Vonta now. I do give mad props to Rice for what he can do with the short passes. I think the guy is pretty amazing.

All I am saying is I really like Rice, I am glad he is a Raven, I just don't want to break the bank for him and feel the organization's offer to him was fair.

If he wasnt shooting to high then the dotted line would have sigs on it.
That's not true
Wording halts contract talks as well
Have you read wheeden comments on his?
Why do you think people agree in principle weeks before final signature.
Reality of the ftag is that many use that to sit out for a minute before signing and having to show up

no he wouldnt.. one year doesnt define a contract, theres more to it than that
This.
3 yr ftag for Brees would equate to an average higher than 23m a yr
He is stating he wants less than 21m
Reason he won't take the tag is because of the lack of security long term

This is similar to ray. 3 yrs of tagging will be higher than salary per yr in his contract
But tags don't protect a player from injury the next yr.

This is why this mb is hard to visit
You go from claiming he isn't valuable because he isn't Adrian
To thinking you already know the final numbers and that the team isn't going to increase its offer.
As if they have never done that sorta thing before..
Never said he wasnt valuable. Seriously you need to comprehend whats being said.I said Adrian isnt worth that money and neither is Rice. Im sure a lot of MBs are hard to visit when you just read what you want and make stuff up. The number we know come from this sites articles not just grabbing numbers out of the air.

its sad that every discussion about rice is turning into a debate on if hes worth keeping. Its pretty obvious thats theres two groups here: Pay the man and dont break the bank. the problem is the difference of the two. I stand behind what ive said, pay him. But not a crazy amount, it has to make sense for us as a team and giving him a massive contract isnt whats in our best interest. It sucks but this is the business aspect of it. I really hope we keep him, if not, i really hope we dont just let him walk with out getting anything in return. I would love for him to have a massive year this year, im going to predict 1375 rushing and 680 recieving. i just wish these debates would stop, its liike beating a dead horse,,,,then burning it...then stomping on the ashes...

Then making it into Elmer's glue and using it to build a popsicle stick horse and burning it again -____-.

I was a little surprised by Rice being so high (and Lewis being so low, but that's another story). I don't like saying it, but I think I would have placed him a little lower. Definitely top 50. Maybe somewhere in the 30's, just because he has been known to disappear at times. But, when he's great, he's great, and I loved seeing so much respect for Ravens players this year.
