ESPN Article About Suggs Lying

62 posts in this topic

Well apparently someone who witnessed Suggs get injured has felt the need now that he has seen how Suggs injury is being reported to come out to the media and say that Suggs lied and it did in fact happen playing basketball.
-__-

All I can say is this guy obviously wants some face time because if he was really concerned about clearing up Suggs lie then he would have gone to the one place that it actually effects which is the Ravens FO.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8013339/terrell-suggs-baltimore-ravens-was-hurt-playing-basketball-witnesses-say

Regardless this won't change the Ravens paying him. And for all we know Suggs might have told the FO the truth and lied to the media.

Despite how it happened, he was hurt and it it's done.
Reports like this aren't going to hurt us anymore than it has with Suggs being out..
Im proud to represent a respectful organization that takes care of players no matter what happens.

Truth be told Pick up ball and intense conditioning are about the same risk. If land wrong you're going to hurt your leg.

Yeah I just hate weasels like that who bring up information just to be apart of a story. We know that guy could care less if Suggs gets paid or not. Suggs' lie was not earth shattering in the slightest. The "And then to lie about it..." line made me lol

its unfortunate but we must realize....this is a job, and it must be taken seriously.....however I won't get mad at a guy for trying to enjoy himself during his time off by playing a little pick up basketball.....in life stuff happens and you have to deal with it. I think its a blessing in disguise as the ravens are fairly frustrating to watch with respects to giving their young talent PT, so it'll be nice to see what Kindle, Courtney and Paul can do!

It's a complete non-story. Leave it to ESPN to take something that is completely irrelevant and then drag someone through the mud just to get page hits. It makes me sick.

This is like the guy who called because Flacco was on a skateboard for 5 seconds. What is up with people?

It could be that this Herbert Hoffman, the basketball tournament director, is looking for his 15 minutes of fame, getting his name out there. However, he claims that his entire staff that worked the tournament saw the injury occur, because it was during the championship game, and he said they'd be willing to give statements to that effect.

I'm not certain that the automatic response to this thread, to state with 100% conviction that this Hoffman is lying... is realistic. We're talking about $11 million, folks - and it's not beyond the stretch of the imagination that it's T-Siz that's lying... because, legally, the FO could decide to not pay him, if he hurt it playing B-Ball. Everyone thinks it's inconcievable that the FO would take this step, but... don't forget, we hear every year at contract time that "it's a business". Ask Ray Rice what he thinks about loyalty = money...

I'm not saying it's certain that Suggs is lying... but it is possible. Like I said, he has 11 million reasons to lie.

Just my $.02.

Lol. I don't care if Suggs hurt his Achilles playing basketball or having tea with little girls (though that could be weird) the fact is he injured it. Truthfully, this injury has occurred in normal people who just tear it for whatever reason. I am not concerned by this. Even if he did injure himself during basketball, who is to say that isn't his conditioning for football? It is good cardio, after all. It's not like he was sky diving or doing anything insanely stupid. We're talking about basketball here, not some intentionally dangerous activity. In the end, I feel this is a non-story to the Ravens, and I don't see anything happening to Suggs' money.

I don't think this guy is lying at all. There apparently are multiple witnesses. I just don't think there is any reason for this guy to come out the media other then he wants his 15 mins. If avoiding lawsuits are the driving force for him wanting to speak up that still just involves the league and the Ravens FO. It didn't need to be public knowledge and it wouldn't be if he in fact went to them.

Exactly!!! Playing basketball is a reasonable way to stay in shape as well as stay sharp! If he hurt it in a motorcycle accident it would be a different story... :deadhorse:

The players have to keep fit all year around
And basketball is an excellent sport for this

I realy don't care if he got injured in basketball or doing sprints
He was still training and working

ESPN just stirring it :268213:

Now if he got hurt doing something stupid we could have a conversation
But playing basketball is a valid offseason activity in my opinion

non-story

Probably a bunch of displaced Steeler fans just trying to make us look bad lol

There is no reason the man can't play basketball. The media is just trying to make a story out of something that the Ravens' org CAN do but we all know is 99% certain they WON'T do which is deny his pay.

On a side note I'd like to see our players banned from riding motorcycles.

This is not going to bring Sizzle back any faster or slower. Non story. Dude was looking for a paycheck, and who knows if he was telling the truth. Would not be the first time an ESPN report was wrong.

He was trying to stay in shape by playing some ball... the only way I would have been upset is if he sat on his couch all summer and ate chips then reported to mini camp overweight.

Only because he is a Raven and I'm sure they hated seeing him named NFL DPOY. I hate their prejudice. And they stay beating dead horses.

I believe Suggs until otherwise proven i.e. video or something and even then...it won't change anything at all......like everyone else said NONSTORY.

Yeah, ESPN.com is always hating on the Ravens although the guys at NFL live and some of their programming tend to give more respect, I think because they are mostly former players/coaches who actually know football.

Also, I love your avatar. Archer is probably the best comedy on tv.

I almost feel like Schefter might have seeked these people out because he originally reported the basketball story and he needed that ego boost that he didn't report it wrong. They beat everything to a dead horse. Ego > prejudice lol

If it states in his contract that he is not to participate in organized sports other than those approved by the FO then he is in violation of his contract. (or whatever it says. I assume he did something "wrong" since he was not honest about what happened)That actually is a big deal. After all that sport is the direct cause of his being on IR. Who is to say that he would have suffered such an injury if he had been actually doing proscribed conditioning? That being said, I agree that the guy has to have a life and do not see the FO doing anything drastic, although a fine of some sort would not be out of order. Just as a warning to the rookies to abide by their contracts. Although I do agree, non story. It is rather slow in the football world. I guess they have to write something.
