Meet the next Cory Redding....I think Ozzie did a nice job of finding that cheaper option once again

I guess no one is buying that but mark my words, this guy will have an impact and he was a cheaper alternative to Cory Redding. He may not see the field as much as Redding but the young guys on the team were going to start taking snaps away from Redding anyway if he had stayed.

He's not the next Cory Redding, he's just a serviceable pass rush specialist.

Wasnt that what Cory Redding was called when he was first signed?

Possibly, except Corey was a better pass rusher and much better run defender.

I think McBean makes the team and even has an impact. We have Jones, McPhee, McBean, Kemoeatu, Ngata, Tyson, Kitchen on this team and another guy whose name has escaped me. I can see the Ravens try to get more pressure and even sacks with their front 3 or 4 than in previous years because of these injuries, and players like McBean, McPhee, Ngata will play a big part in that.

Lets not make Cory Redding out to be some huge acquisition when we brought him over, a lot of people here had never heard of him. Playing on the Ravens defense revived his career. All I'm saying is Ryan McBean is in that same clothe, just watch as he starts making plays and who knows he could be signing a nice contract in a few years for his good play and because he was on the Ravens defense. That never hurts a players resume.

The real problem with trying to recreate the success we had with Redding is that McBean regressed from his rookie season and left Denver with the reputation as possibly the worst interior run defender in the league, but that's not to say he can't put it all together here with his physical tools.

You'd have to think if Ozzie thought we needed to sign at least JJ or Redding he would have. We were capable of signing at least one of them. Of course he wasn't planning on Sizzle's injury so maybe he would have brought JJ back knowing that but Jones almost beat out Redding in camp right? I think we'll be okay there. Bean at worst can be serviceable depth or at best with being apart of an organization that gets the best out of their defensive players will be able to take his physical attributes and revive his career.

Wait 2011 was his first season where he got 4 sacks so he couldn't have regressed completely. Regardless he would be behind Jones in the depth chart so he doesn't have to be a great run defender. I do think he'll get better here though.

He's going to be strictly depth. We've wanted to get younger and more athletic in the front 7 for years now. Look for Jones and McPhee to have a HEATED training camp battle for the starter spot. But look for Pees to try to keep McPhee as fresh as possible for pass rushing because of Suggs' injury and use Jones for run downs.

How many players actually thrived in Denver? That's defense was pretty bad too.

Brodrick Bunkley had a breakout season, I just don't ever see McBean becoming an every down player, same with Kindle.

How so? His stats were pretty similar in everyway while he was with the Eagles... Slightly better with the Eagles actually. I wouldnt call his time in denver a breakout by any means.

When guys are brought into the Ravens defense they have their best years. Cory Redding's play dropped off from his days in Detroit then went to Seattle and then he came to Bmore and was productive and had one of his best years last year

this McBean guy sounds awfully familiar, also, I'm not saying he'll take a starters spot...I think that will be McPhee and Jones, guys like that...but the rotation will be solid and this guy has the potential to get sacks as well
