Many heartfelt thanks to all those who proudly serve, or have served, in our Armed Forces to defend this great nation, especially those unable to be with their family and friends on this sacred holiday.

To those who gave their lives for this country, and for those who are still unaccounted for, you and your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I am just one of the many that thank you all for your continued support. Some may not agree with the war but they stand behind us and support us and that means the most to us!

Thank You All

Many thanks to our Firefighters, EMTs and Police Officers as well. Let's not forget them either folks, they get less glory but put their lives on the line to save ours everyday.

That's weak. No media press or national holiday. No one celebrates those. I think i will keep my original statement of "don't forget police and firefighters on memorial day".

???

It is a holiday that was initiated by Presidential Proclamation in 1962. The USA flag is flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on that day.

Not to take anything away from the service and sacrifice of law enforcement personnel, firefighters, or EMTs, but Memorial Day is for the remembrance of fallen military personnel.

Yeah I know, but it's like they have Veterans day as well, so we should at least use memorial day as a day to celebrate all those who have lost their lives protecting Americans.

That's why Peace Officers Memorial Day was created.

Memorial Day and Veterans Day are not one of the same. Both are holidays paying tribute to our nation's military-- Memorial Day for all those who have fallen, Veterans Day for all those who have served.

My point being 1/10 people know about this Peace Officers day, and our military has 2 holidays paying respects to them in wars that really are far away from home soil (not saying that downgrades them by any means, I'm very proud of what they do ) but a Grand holiday should be for all of the services who put their lives on the line, not just ones in time of war. Fires and shootings happen every day, just saying they need their due respect and Peace Officers memorial day isn't cutting it.

To debate this further would take away from the original intent and purpose of this topic so I'm going to respectfully stop here.
