I really feel for this guy Video here I have never seen a knee do that. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Steelers long snapper Warren leaves game

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Greg Warren left Sunday's game against the New York Giants with a knee injury.

On a punt from the Pittsburgh 40, Warren went down and had trouble getting up after the play. Team officials came out to help Warren up, but as he tried to put weight on the knee he collapsed.

Warren was then carted into the locker room for further tests on the knee.
James Harrison, feared linebacker, blew the game for the Steelers while filling in for Warren. His snap sailed above their punter and out of the back of the endzone for a safety, tying the game and giving the ball back to the Giants.

Wow, that looks absolutely terrible. I've had knee problems for several years, and I hate to see that happen to somebody.

makes me wonder, why doesn't any other offensive lineman on the Steelers handle the snapping duties?

Yeah, why didn't their center do it? It's virtually the same thing he does in a shotgun, just a bit further back.

I've never completely understood that either. Apparently though, long snapping is important enough to warrant the specialist.

I've watched every single Steelers game since the invention of the NFL Sunday Ticket on Directv. I cannot recall the last time I saw an issue with the long snapper. How ironic is it that it comes in a game against the giants???

I actually just meant to replace the long snapper, not to be the actual long snapper. I don't understand why they thought it was a good idea to have James Harrison snap it. It should have either been a big Quarterback or a center. Surely.

Their center probably wouldnt have done a much better job. Wasnt one of the sacks Ben took at the end of the game on a high snap out of the shot gun?

Yeah but that was just awful. I mean I could have done a better job. In all seriousness. [The James Harrison one]

I do feel bad for him i hope he has a good recovery that was a nasty knee buckle.

and as for the center taking over long snapping duties you have to realize that a longsnapper snaps the ball with two hands about 15 to 20 yards back instead of one handed about 5 yards back. Also once the ball is snapped the longsnapper must be the 3rd person down field to fill the zone in the middle of the field and make the tackle. Most centers don't have a chance to catch a Devin Hester, James Harrison does.

Well, I just don't see how pass rushing linebacker translates into competent long snapper. I guess they saw something in practice. In retrospect, it was a bad decision.

Although, Harrison did have a good spiral on that snap, which is necessary to get the ball in the punter's hands quickly.

You know what else is necessary? getting the ball to the punter. Period.

Not if you're the Steelers, obviously.
