I don't think I could write that many words in one post and stay on topic on this board.

. I'd go off course and talk about smallow and reat and girls in purple socks and solve all the world's problems with that many words

Hey I posted a thread in the forum about possibly starting up an Auction style ppr/idp league. If anyone has any interest feel free to let me know by posting in the thread. It would be on espn.

I mean we can go back and forth about this for days. Arguing about what the chiefs will do with Hillis and Charles, but we might as well just wait for next week when we will get a dress rehearsal type game to see how they will use everyone.

A note on the Chiefs o line tho, in 2010 this rushing attack behind a great o line led the league in rushing with 164.2 yards a game. Cleveland that year 102.9. Not sure if the drop off was due to personal or due to not having a decent back for awhile , but personal was at least addressed by signing Winston, I wouldnt be surprised if this attack led the league again.

Also with Hillis being a capable passing down back, I could see Mccluster's role diminishing unless he is split out as a wr. Hillis can block catch passes etc... Charles will obv be in on the passing downs, Mccluster's increased role last year was probably due to Charles going down. But again you could argue it either way so I wont go there.

Reasons behind Hillis missing games from what I heard were as follows

Strep Throat - at least 1 week maybe 2 not 100% on this
Hamstring-

I didnt hear about any personal reasons, maybe its cause other people were saying that his agent was telling him not to play and chalked it up to contract dispute reasons. But either way he missed 6 games that season which is significant.
[/quote]

Very true. Although I'll probably wait until the third or fourth week to make my assessment. Don't get me wrong, because I do put stock into the preseason. Just not enough to make my final judgement, especially with a scenario that will have to be monitored over the course of the entire season.

The disparity between their numbers doesn't change the OL grades. The Chiefs easily had a better backfield, and while their passing game wasn't exactly stellar, they were more effective than the Browns passing attack, thus forcing the defenses to stay a bit more honest. I do love the Eric Winston signing, however. He'll be an immense upgrade over Barry Richardson. I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish in the Top 5, although I feel like Houston or Carolina will finish ahead of them.

Yes, I agree. McCluster's role on passing downs will likely be diminished. But I was noting that Hillis will have more than just Charles to compete with, which was your original statement.

I didn't recall the hamstring injury, which was a mistake on my part. Good call. But there were numerous reports about his mental state, including one wherein he told the staff that he was contemplating retirement. Couple that with the reports about the intervention, and I don't buy for a second that his downfall was purely physical. He does seem more motivated this season, but it's a concern nonetheless.

I'm stunned I have no offers for the Patriots Defense, or even Andrew Luck after he has had 2 solid games so far this pre-season.

Who in their right mind would trade for a defense?

Considering how well the Pats defense looked tonight, and the fact the two trades that have happened so far, I say I'm at least giving someone fair value with a sure thing instead of hoping for a player to break out to prove your trade right.

Defenses and Kickers are the biggest crap shoots. Thats why no one has offered for the Pats D. While some D's can be game changer see Baltimore last year, how often can you consider them to consistently do that? Not often in fantasy. The Pats D also was 31st in the league last year. Even if they improved, they probably wont be a top 5 defense, which is basically what you'd need to be to pull off that type of game changing ability in fantasy. Overall, a defense is really not worth a player. At best they are trade sweetners in my honest opinion as you can get decent production playing the waiver wire.

Also in both of the trades that happened, one of the teams in each trade was trading from a severe position of weakness that immediately needed to be remedied or their season was basically done.

Well let's see they improved their defense. Remember, they were banged up all regular season and when they had everyone return, their defense improved in the playoffs. Now they add Hightower and Chandler Jones, so I'm assuming people will want them because they will be a top 5 defense, their defense got better so someone should want them based off the assumptions they will be a better defense.

Thats like saying I have Jason Hanson who will probably be a top 5 kicker. How about you give me an offer for him?

The position is not that important in fantasy.

pretty good however Id drop the the cards D and vinateri for two of the guys on the waivers ideally a TE. You really should not waste roster spots on backup kickers and defenses.

Id love to...except i cant. For some reason the LM has it set up that way, he should be changing it today. I plan on picking up isiah pead and maybe the other steve smith or amendola. I like i might TEs though. My arguement for cards defense how ever is in the special teams with patrick peterson, as long as match ups favor or course.

Right now my team has neither a Defense or Kicker. Don't really need them until Sept. 5th.

I really, really hate my team in this league. I had a extremely [profanity deleted]ty day on draft day, barely made the draft. Got, in my mind, the dreaded 9th pick and [profanity deleted] went downhill from there. I took way too many chances.

Then Redman pulls a groin and the Steelers activate Mendenhall in a surprise move. Collie after going a whole year without a concussion gets one the next game after I draft him.

Very slim chance of me repeating as champ in JO's league. I need Stafford to throw for 6,000 yards and have Calvin Johnson get afflicted w/ the Madden Curse so that Titus Young can get some more love.

make a trade and pray the madden curse doesnt screw Calvin over through Stafford. Also I would have killed for 9th, I got 11th and I still managed to draft well.

They also lost Mark Anderson and Andre Carter. You know, their top 2 pass rushers.

I will wager anything they are not a top 5 defense.

You know how we always talk how so and so was a product of our system? Well Mark Anderson was nothing until last year when he had BB, Andre Carter played OLB in the Pats 3-4 but failed at it. The Pats moved to a more 4-3 defense and that was when both succeeded. I would say both Anderson and Carter don't do anything now that BB isn't their coach.

Yet their defense was historically bad last season. BB is such a defensive genius. My point remains the Pats will not have a good defense, fantasy or otherwise. Top 5 is a joke, as is trying to use them as tradebait.

I highly disagree that either of them were products of Belichick's system.

Anderson had 12 sacks as a rookie in '06 and even though he never approached double digits again until last year, he racked up a lot of pressure, especially with Houston in 2011.

As for Carter, he had more than few quality seasons rushing the passer during his career with the Redskins. He struggled when they switched to a 3-4 in '10. Still, he'd established himself as a good player long before BB coached him.

This. I especially agree about the point regarding Andre Carter, who finished with 11 sacks in the Redskins 4-3 system, the year before they made the switch.

Bad News for the MJD owners

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000052711/article/maurice-jonesdrew-open-to-trade-from-jacksonville-jaguars?module=HP11_headline_stack

It looks like MJD is prepared for a lengthy holdout.

Man, I drafted a monster team in my ten 10 keeper league. I came into the league keeping Foster and McCoy so I already had a leg up. QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Flex, Def, K.

Some wierd scoring: .5 PPR, .2 Per Completion, 6pts for QB TDs, 30 passing yds per point, Ints -2, sacks -1, 1 point for 25 return yards, Bonuses for huge games (200/300 yds rushing/receiving, 350/450 yds passing). Defenses get basically 2x default scoring and are penalized hard for bad games. Kickers get more points for long kicks, penalized more for missing gimmies.

Tom Brady
Arian Foster
LeSean McCoy
Julio Jones
Percy Harvin
Brandon Lloyd
Jimmy Graham
Doug Martin
Eagles Def
Garrett Hartley

Peyton Hillis
Denarius Moore
Nate Washington
C.J. Spiller
Ben Tate
Jared Cook
