Welcome. I'll be pulling for him, the good news is that we need depth and competition at return and at receiver. If he performs well on special teams in camp and preseason, he will get noticed by Harbaugh. Again good luck to u both

I don't see Reed staying. Jacoby is our return guy, and what does Reed bring to the table?
And if he gets injured? Wanna put Webb back there?

Put Berry or Pierce back there, or Torrey.

These guys aren't made out of terracota. They are athletes, they are suppose to perform, yeah injuries happen, but don't baby them.

So you want to put 3 guys who have never fielded a kick in the NFL? It's good to have depth at kick returner.

It's better to have depth at wr.

Boldin
Smith
Jones
Williams
Doss
Streeter

Where does Reed fit on?

1. Lee Evans was cut, and signed with the Jaguars.

2. Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta at TE, and we have nothing?

3. Jacoby #2? HAHAHAHA

That is all.
first off boldin and smith have spots 1 & 2 locked down. 2nd we have jones streeter doss williams and reed all battling it out for 3rd 4th and 5th spots.lee evans has been gone for a few months now so a trade is out! And trading for a "real" TE is pretty dumb when we have 2 pretty good ones in dickson and pitta. Pitta is mr. clutch who kills it on 3rd down and also works pretty dam good as a WR out of the slot and dickson is also pretty good on 3rd downs and is deep threat against safeties and linebackers. And ALOT younger then those guys.

I think Peirce will win the number two spot for two reasons he is the type of back we want at number two and we traded up to get him so Ozzie has to think is really good to trade up for anybody.

I think as much as some hate to say it, Jacoby Jones will be our 3rd WR or outside receiver in 3 WR's sets. He has the speed/experience/size etc. to play for us. Not only can he play well as a route runner, he obviously is an excellent KR.

As for the RB pos. i hope it's Anthony Allen who backs up Ray Rice (who im hoping will still be there!) Which would cause a lot of problems for teams seeing as how much power and speed the kid has. Similar to Rick Williams i would assume.. If that Ray rice situation doesn't work out then.... crap. I dont even know who i would want to be the starting RB from either of those 3 (or 4) unproven RB's.

Agree with the first part.

I am curious as to why you think AA should be the back-up to RR? He has been on the team for a year, so that is an advantage but I really think Bernard Pierce is a much more talented back. I have watched him for a couple years now and he is a powerful player with good vision and explosiveness. He wasnt used much out of the back-field, but his running style should fit very well with the zone-blocking scheme we implemented last season.

This RB thing will be interesting all we can do is speculate and when the preseason games come we will see them get plenty of touches. I have my favorite. But we shall see. Good luck to them all. Lets the compitition begin. :banana1:

As much as I like Rice... I can not fathom giving him more than 22-25 range in Guaranteed money. I would rather get the Flacco deal extended Reed extended and see what the other backs have to offer while Rice plays out his Franchise tag... we can tag him again next year. If we have to tag Flacco that will cost a lot more in cap space than Rice. Rice in my opinion is a Reggie bush type of back... great in open space but struggles to get the short yards. We may have a group of good receivers coming along... and a back like (don't know yet) Pierce or AA may be a good downhill runner(s) behind Leach to keep our running game going. And don't count out Berry as a speed option. Again I like Rice but he struggles in pass protection... and to play in the north we need tough runners and maybe the three headed monster might work again with young guys... but we won't know until preseason in how well they will do so... keep him tagged and work on the extensions of Flacco and Reed.

Apparently Anthony Allen is the front runner, and I think he should be. He is the more changing of the change of back runners. I like Piece though.

I think Pitta and Dickson will be involved a lot more this year which should take some pressure of our receivers

That happened last season. I'm hoping Pitta's involvement increases, but there's no reason Q and Torrey should be the only WRs with noteworthy production in 2012.

Anthony Allen is the frontrunner for back-up. And he should be. He's the much more physical back, and a truer change of pace. Pierce has to bulk up.

Jones < Reed. lets not let the seattle game get to you. Jones cost you games in playoffs, Reed cost you regular game. I'd take the ladder.
Let's give the guy the benefit of a fresh start. The guy just got here and has not cost the Ravens any games yet. Some could argue Reed cost us more than a regular game, remember one more win would have been home field advantage in the playoffs.

Once again why? Because he is much more physical? Thats debatable. Pierce runs with authority and knows how to hit the hole. He is also much more explosive than Allen and is a lot better at making people miss. Obviously, we need to see them both on the field, but Pierce is a much more talented back, faster, better vision.

I guess overall we will have to see who is the better running back. Allen can do more than pierce since you can use him in the passing game, he can pass protect, and etc.

We'll see in preseason, but Allen is the larger of the two and also runs with authority and likes to deliver the blow. It's hard to judge because Allen played in the triple option. I think when pierce puts on 10 lbs he'll be the back up and eventually the starter. We have so little information on Allen so it's hard to say.

Allen has done not proven he can do any of those things in actual game situations, so to me his only advantage is that he has been on the team for a year already.

This is why I dont see him as a front-runner. I think it's an open battle, and from their time in college Pierce was a much more productive runner who was used in a more pro-style running offense. They used both power and zone running schemes at Temple, so he should be familiar with what we do here. From ability alone I think Pierce would have the edge...I don't think Ozzie moved up in the 3rd round so he could sit behind Anthony Allen. He has the talent to contribute immediately.

Call me biased, but i enjoy a power back as a #2, as much as i dont want Rice holding out. Thats ALOT.

I haven't seen too much video, or games played on Pierce so i dont know too much about him, but he looks like a speed/change of pace back in which we already have in Ray. I'd like a Rick Williams type of back up, who has great power and down hill running. But that doesn't mean i dont like the occassional mix up of other backs.

Whatever happens (Pierce/Allen/Berry) may the BEST man win the job.
