I understand and agree with him that player safety is the most important thing. But do you think its fair that he has the final say on everything? He is the judge and the jury when it comes to handling just about everything that has to do with the NFL. (Fines,Suspensions,Appeals)...

If he suspends or fines anyone for whatever reason, and lets say the person who is on the recieving end may want to appeal it because they felt they were wrongly due. Then they must go through Roger once again... The same person who handed down the suspension in the first place.

It just doesn't seem fair to me. What say you?

What other method could the NFL use to handle appeals, so that they could be treated more fairly?

The only thing I'll say about Goodell is that there is making sure players are safe, and then there is making the game too safe. Goodell has made so many rules that is it not football anymore. I think Benard Pollard means that there will be no more Football as it will be Flag Football if things keep up with "player safety". I just think that as long as Goodell is in charge, we will see so many flags for hits that are legal. These are grown men out there, that is the thing the league, specifically Goodell doesn't understand. I could actually stand some of these rules if this were High School Football but this is Professional Football. I don't see anyone crying or complaining, and I didn't see the players asking that a new rule be put in when Brady got hurt, the league has been over reacting to everything since Goodell has taken over.

He should either do the original ruling or hear the appeal, not both.

I agree, he should do the ruling but not the appeal.

Its also a business for the players.

yup and in the spirit of the nfln commercial. They all applied and sent resume's to work for someone else.
Thusly they are left to be subjected to someone elses rules.

Not trying to go into politics here but we could have like a supreme court thing in the NFL system. The players should have more say I feel.

So you agree that if you go to work for someone, they can treat you unfairly which will interfer with your career? I know it happens, but the NFL is a huge business. Players should have most of the say of what goes on because they're the ones making all the money and putting the well being on the line. I just think they should be treated more fairly is all.

Goodell isn't treating then unfair
In fact its their own union that sells out some players for others while their bosses look out for all.

Again they can elect a different employer.
You say the nfl treats them unfairly yet the nfl recognizes most players won't make it far in the nfl and offer training for finances and other careers outside of football things the nflpa doesn't do and, only, pretended to do last yr while still seeking money to pay for it from goodell and,not using their membership dues.

You see your post and far too many, people focus on goodell enforcing rules the competition committee created and never look at the entire picture.

You ssy their employer treats them unfair and assume it was only goodell who came up with rules and, penalties and ignore that he consults with others during the process

hows he treating them unfairly? no one, no one gets punished unless they break a rule, dont all boses do that? whats your beef? there is rules/laws in place and nfl players, like me, you, anyone else has to follow them. They arent above the law.

Goddell syas wear pads fro protection, my boss makes me wear a suit. Am i going to land in to work in trackies? no, they have to wear pads.

Your not allowed to hit someone helmet to helmet, im not allowed to hit someones face. If i do, id expect a fine, maybe he not have a job by the end of it. Why is it different for NFL players.

Im not allowed to have my notes in for exams to improve my grade, players arent allowed preformance enhancing drugs to improve their game.

Rules are there, they are made to be followed and a punishment will no doubt be put in place if they are broken.

Im assuming this stems from the punishments for the bounties. I truly feel, if ex nfl players by the 100s were not suing the nfl for injuries/concussions this may not have been that big a deal. But if Goddell sat back and done very little, in 10 years time how many players will sue the nfl and one of their main basis behind it would be there was evidence of defenders looking to injure and he done nothing.

Goddell HAS to take EVERY step necessary to TRY and reduce injuries in this league to position the NFL in a place to fight of lawsuits that are inevitable, be that extra padding, punishment for illegal hits to try and reduce them, this new helmet which im assuming is going to made mandatory soon, otherwise all it does is strengthen players positions to file lawsuits.

If i work in the consturction industry and my boss doesnt make it mandatory for gloves, helmets, boots etc, and something happens me in the workplace, i'll sue and i'll win whether or not it was my choice, because the boss knew the risks and didnt make in mandatory. No diff to the NFL.

If there was no risk of lawsuits, ie players signed a waiver that was legally binding that they cannot sue for injuries because they play this game by their own accord and know the risks invovled, Goddell wouldnt have done half of what he is.

Hes not protecting the players 1st, hes protecting the NFL, players safety is second.

They signed up for it. They know what they are getting into...

Why should players hav most of the say? Most wouldn't know the first thing about running a business

I just think that appeals should go through someone else rather then the person who hands down the punishments. Just like how certain parts of the legal system is messed up.

Your right, they would have no clue how to run it. But they're the ones risking everything. Would you agree that a judge can throw anyone in jail for whatever reason, and then say whether or not they can appeal it if they feel wrongly due?

He kind of treats the Steelers unfair. lol. I guess he's using them to make an example for the rest of the league.

But for him to keep handleing the appeals and not up for discussion to change the process is being unfair.

Down with Goddell
He is mean
he belongs in.... :)

Just have more reprsentation from players and problem is solved. We could start a movement.
Our slogan " No rule changes without reprsentation" something like that?
I will think of more give me a couple hours. We could do this.
