read an article on this site that talked about him. i'm kinda interested in him. it would probably be better than the osi situation (if thats even true...)

We should definitely kick the tires. If he's in shape, give him a 1 year deal and put Suggs on IR so he can fully heal and avoid injury.

All he'd be is a 3rd down rotational guy. If he wants to come hang out and play 100 snaps this year then fine. But he's not going to win an OLB job from Kruger, Kindle or Upshaw.

Im not sure if he would be suitable to play outside linebacker since he's 275 pounds. I guess he would be a defensive end only

he could play DE on 3rd down .. he could play DE considering we play a lot of dif schemes besides a true 3-4

This move makes sense if he is finally healthy again. A 1 year deal to come in the DE rotation with Haloti, McPhee, and Jones wouldn't be bad, he definitely has the experience and talent to help our pass rush. I remember this guy was tearing it up for the Bengals just two years ago. Definitely a lot more feasible and better for us financially than an Osi trade. Plus, when he is healthy I think Odom is just as good as Osi at this point in their careers.

We freed up some cap. I say we sign him to a one year low risk deal, since he's been out of the league. Nothing wrong with kicking the tires of a potential depth and veteran. Odom's career got cut short by injuries, but with a year out of football, maybe he can show some comeback with a healthy body.

More Players in Training Camp means more competition. More competition means more toughness and challenge to earn your wings.

You earn the right to be in the NFL.

Well, at least the rookies are impressive, and it's nothing short of expectation of the Front Office as they keep finding young and talented players.

You can never have enough D-lineman.

Ryan McBean is out for three weeks.

We penciled in Haloti, Cody, Jones, and McPhee.

5 D-linemen is too small and they probably will get tired out.

That's why we need to carry like 6-7 so we can just keep changing them in and out to tire out the offensive linemen.

Ngata, Cody, Jones, McPhee, McBean, Tyson, (The best player we can find)

I really doubt this will happen. Suggs will be back this year and there is too much to still find out about Kindle, Kruger, Upshaw to use a roster spot on a guy that will likely be a nickel pass rusher and won't play special teams. Also it seems he has a pretty significant injury history.

I second that. I remember that we had so much quality depth that we would rotate D-linemen every other snap with great results, it had the opposition tired enough to where even if we were to have someone without the most experience could make something happen.

That was one of our best luxuries..

I think Odom's ship may have sailed. He didn't play at all last year, and has only played in 10 games in the last 3 years. Even in '09, he played in 4 games without registering a sack.

I'd rather stick with Kruger, Upshaw, Kindle and McAdoo for pressure - Odom was only a pass-rush specialist, and when these guys join the "over-30" gang, injuries and age rob them of the explosiveness that produced the sacks. Look at Jason Taylor, who averaged 5 sacks/yr his last 4 years, and Shawne Merriman, with 4 sacks since '08.

I'd vote against plugging an aging vet into the Suggs hole, until he returns.

He was a beast for one short stretch of his career, one 6 game span. In the 64 games before '09, he had 15.5 sacks. He hasn't played in 2 years, and he's 30. I wouldn't sign him based upon one six-game stretch, that he'll probably never repeat.

I think if he's still around towards the middle of the off season, bring him in. Can't hurt to give him a shot in camp.
