A one year rental is all we need b/c we have a team built to win the SB NOW! I would get what you are saying if we were a team where winning the SB this up and coming season was unlikely / a little far fetched but that's far from the case. Hell, I want to see the young guys play too but what if they don't meet expectations? Our pass rush could be the difference between us winning the SB or not.

We won't know if they can meet expectations if they're not on the field. We'll see if the organization feels the same way. Based on how much they've invested in the pass rush in recent years, and what we saw from Kruger and McPhee last year, I believe the team can win now with them playing more snaps.

i agree with your overall point, but your arguement is awful. JPP is one of theee best DEs in the league at the minute, top 5 with Allen, Tuck, etc.. JPP could be one of the best players in the league in a few years, hes that good.

Thats not a grea arguement, thats like saying back in the day Steve young is awful and i wouldnt want him on my team because he couldnt beat out montana for years...
Yeah, JPP was a legit DPOY candidate last season, and Osi had some injuries. If there is anything that would turn me off from him, it's his injury history. I would be concerned with a scheme fit. We have some smart coaches that know how to use personnel.

Exactly. Miami is going to a 4-3 and Osi will most likely want to choose Miami for the fact that they play a 4-3 and because they will offer more money, and he has a better shot at starting for them then he does here. If he got out played by JPP playing 4-3 DE, what makes us think he'll out play Kruger/Kindle/Upshaw who have experience as a 3-4 OLB in his first time as a 3-4 OLB? If he can't beat out JPP, I doubt he would beat Upshaw/Kruger/Kindle for a starting job.
To be fair to Umenyiora, everyone would've been beaten out by JPP last year. Dude is an absolute animal.

Osi cannot choose where he goes. he can hope that the Giants FO will look out for him and send him to somewhere that would provide what he wants, but ultimately hes under contract and owned by the Giants. On a side note, he doesnt fit our 3-4 and I feel like we need a backup at OLB behind Kruger, but it wont be a big name. Upshaw will take Suggs spot, Kruger hopefully can play every snap at JJ's spot, McPhee will take the majority of Redding's spot or Jones. Mcbean will be in the DL rotation on fun downs. I pray that Kindle can have a productive and beneficial offseason, cause he has yet to have an offseason period. If he can atleast work his way into the rotation with Kruger or provide the flexibility to move kruger up on the line, and kindle at OLB, leaves alot of options for schemes on pass rush downs. Will both be rushing strong side?, will kindle drop in coverage and kruger rush? will kruger drop from a DL position and have kindle stunt A gap? Will both drop in coverage and run a CB blitz weak side. Id love to see kindle's potential and have him and kruger on the field at the same time. I hope we get to see it. Our front 7 were nasty last year... I feel like Kruger and Mcphee having more opportunities, Art Jones in that mix too, and the addition of Upshaw and an offseason for kindle... I like our odds of being even more dominate than last year, especially with our secondary continuity Webb building upon his ridiculous last season, and Jimmy having his first offseason and catching up to the game mentally, and phew... Pollard. What a great addition last year, him being beside Ed this year (stay healthy please). This could be a sick defense.

I hope this is not true. What would you do with a 30 year old 4-3 DE with two bad knees? Where would he fit in this D? It's not you can teach him how to drop in coverage, just like that. Btw he's too light to play DE. I thought the FO covets draftpicks, not give them away for a guy like this.

I will be furious if we offer any draft picks for any players. I don't want us to trade for anyone right now. I'd rather we keep our draft picks.

I don't want Osi here. He'd be Josh Wilson all over again, but with a higher price.

You mean the Josh Wilson that we gave up practically nothing for and became one of our most consistent corners into the season in a weak secondary at the time? Sure, We let him get paid in Washington after being with the team only 1 year, but he was worth every bit of the late pick we gave up to get him.

You mad, bro? Relax. Don't get so defensive. There's a reason I used Wilson and not Evans.

I think Osi could have an impact here, but I am reluctant to say how much. With that said, I like him as a player but I don't like the idea of giving up a draft pick for him. I value picks too much. I'm tired of all the stop-gap trades. I think we are good on the OLB front, too.

But in all honesty, sure, he would be a good trade. But what would we have to surrender for him? There is no way in Hell I would trade a 3rd or even a 4th for a 1 year stop gap player. I'm not sure I would want to trade a 5th or 6th. Those picks are valuable. The more you have, the better you can be.

Osi produces without a doubt. If the FO could get him under the cap I'd be stoked to see what he could do opposite Suggs once he's healthy.

This has to be some kind of a spoof much like the one about Ward signing with the Ravens!

Seriously though, after Suggs' injury a pass rusher signing may not hurt much as long as he competes for a spot with the likes of Upshaw, Kruger and Kindle, but a third round pick? I say maybe a 4th or a 5th after knowing the Giants are more than likely going to cut him next year or he becomes an unrestricted free agent...

I'd be surprised if we bring him in, even with the injury with Suggs. Use young guys first.

Agreed

Honestly, anyone could post anything on FB or Twitter. It's an undedited source, so there is little we can do to discern the facts from fiction. There were several people saying that they wouldn't want Osi, but I wouldn't mind taking him for a year. Just as long as he doesn't become an obstacle for our future stars to progress.
