Flacco At No.74

210 posts in this topic

I was sitting with my dad earlier, and we start talking about our fantasy teams. He is talking about how great his is and I say "BOOOOOLDIN!" (He has Anquan Boldin.) So then he asks, "You think he'll do good this year?" So I say, "Yeah, I think he'll do pretty well, he does have Flacco throwing to him." Then he replies, "Ehh.." So I ask if he thinks Flacco is a good QB and he said, "No, not really." I ask, "Why?" Then he says, "I think you know why, you don't completely trust him either. You have some second thoughts and doubts." He walks off. Later, I announce, "I wouldn't want any other QB in the league. I love Flacco as our QB."

So the point of telling the story, is that it's obvious that Flacco is underrated and unappreciated. So many people say he's bad and not one of the best in the league.

We wouldn't be an elite team without him. He helps our offense be a dominating offense. With his explosive plays to Torrey Smith, down the middle passes to Boldin, short throws to Rice, & even his amazingly accurate throw to Evans in the AFC Championship (unfortunately it was not caught.)

This guy has helped build this team, and I want to know if you guys are confident in Flacco. Do you guys want another QB? Or is Flacco the guy that could send us to a Superbowl?

(Sorry Admins if this thread is already going on, I didn't think to check.)

I wont make another thread but.....
Jaws had Joe #9 on his QB list today.
Before Vick, Romo, and I think Rivers. He's the only ESPN analysis that shows Joe some love, which tells me he knows what he's talking about. Which makes him one of my favorites lol.

I guess the rest of the league didn't get the memo that Flacco is "the best quarterback in the NFL"...

Regarding Dukes, as painful as it is to hear he's only stating what the majority of fans around the NFL think. Flacco is mediocre. He's definately not elite and definitely not a franchise quarterback.

Apologies for quoting myself but Flacco has made a believer out of me not only in his play but what I see on the sidelines and what I read about him in the facility. Looking back and reading some of this I feel stupid. I wish I could say it's the first and last time but .............

I'm trying to think up a creative banner I can use in my posts to point out my misguided comments about Flacco including comparing him to Sanchez...SHEESH.......

If anyone has any g-rated humorous ideas they'd like to pass along I'll get to work on the banner. Apologies if anyone took anything I said personal. Best of luck JF, you've done well and at this point 74 looks too low. Keep it going!!

Hardbaugh, I love that you are big enough to do that!
Yes, it's big of you to do that.

I just don't want people going back and forth when he doesn't have a perfect game (as long as he doesn't have a ROMO game then I'm fine;)).

To me, sometimes stats are a bit misleading. See Dez Bryant last night -kid had 100 yards and a TD yet looke dhorrible. Whereas Flacco against the Browns for example, didn't have the most "out of this world stats" like against the Pats (he still did throw for over 300 and score two TDs - but I digress) but he looked good.

If we had any other guy back there that we have had previously -even the late great McNair - I don't think we win that "trap" game.

Shudder to think what the Browns would've done to us with Boller/Wright/Redman trying to get the ball downfield to Torrey, or trying to thread throws in the middle to Q.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, that I am thankful for Joe Flacco in the pocket. He ain't "perfect" but he gets the job done more often than not.

Yeah I'm a naysayer too! lol

If he keeps up this level of production, he could be pro-bowl bound. Of course he has to keep this level of production up.

I need to see him against the Texans. Hostile environment against a team that wants the win. That game will tell us a lot about this team and the direction they're heading.

What if it turns out to be similar to the Eagle's game? I can see that happening against Houston. However, I believe that they may not be as good as their record indicates, with a sub .500 division. We'll see in a few weeks.

The real refs back means you can't manhandle the WRs anymore. Joe was 14 of 17 with a TD before they started doing that.

I'm saying that it could be a close game in which we lose. What's done is done.

Well I was just saying the Eagles game was close for its own reason. If Eagles game = tough loss to you that's one thing, to me it's just an aberration.

If it's a close game wouldnt mind depending on how we lost. If we give up a lead or throw a pick driving down field to win I'll be pissed, just like the Eagles game.

He did well against the Texans last year, though.

He had an 86.9 QB Rating in two games. The average QB Rating against them last year was only a 66.8, so he did well.

He also ran for a touchdown on a day when Rice was just simply awful in goal-to-go situations (4 carries for NEGATIVE 7 yards, with not one single one of those carries going for positive yardage).

If you add that rushing touchdown to his TDs when calculating his QB rating, then he had a 92.4 against them last season.

I'd say he was pretty impressive against the Texans last year considering just how darn good their D was.

I know. I still dont get why Flacco doesn't get more credit for that win. Its more that I want to see what he does against a good defense when he has to score. This time the offense is healthy and 20 points won't be enough. It will be interesting to see how the game plays out.

Flacco is the man. I'll take him over any other young QB in the league, that includes Stafford, Ryan, Newton all of them. Though he still makes me want to pull my hair out when he chucks up those ducks. There's normally about 3 a game when the throw is just waaaay off lol. Typically the defense drops the pick but hey, I like that he isn't scared to let them rip!

LOLOL, why is this even back into the first page.

We all know Flacco should have been in atleast the 50s if not lower.

Guess now , the people around the nation are finally catching up.

I've only once seen Flacco just flat out have a bad day...that was in 2010 against the Bungels.
Last year against Jacksonville wasn't pretty.
But all in all, every week Flacco goes out there and I can think of few games where we win without him.
Just to put things into perspective...
Minus injuries, 2007 to 2008, same team minus Flacco. Big difference in win/loss.
Rodgers was out for a game last year...Matt Flynn throws 6 touchdowns.
Joe makes his team better, and while Rodgers is certainly elite, most quarterbacks could excell in that offense. Not many do well in Flacco's position. How many quarterbacks drafted to defensive teams come in an play well and win? Faulk brought that up last thursday. Dilfer was terrible when he came to the Bucs. Vince Young eventually fizzled. Ben didn't play great for his first few years, in fact he didn't even really help to win his first Superbowl. Lots of players crumble in that position. Now Flacco finally has some offense around him, but it's still not close to what Ryan, Rivers, or other elites have

Yeah, but then from that week on no quarterback had a higher quarterback rating than Joe Flacco except for Brady Cries A lot.
