I've seen that as well. Pure speculation on my part, but I'm guessing that Cam has something to do with that, because Flacco really looks like he knows when and when not to make a run for it.

Agreed. It's all those damn nine routes Cam calls.

My favorite Joe run is where he ran over the dude from Denver... his name isn't coming to me.

We need Cam to call some more playaction, which would give Flacco a much better opportunity to run it, if need be.

The only issue when Joe likes to run is that he fumbles a lot. He needs to hold onto the dang ball! He has tremendous size 6'6" and 245. Big Ben is 6'5" 241 so hes bigger than him. If he holds onto the ball and makes sure he doesn't get nailed in the head I think he can make some plays with his feet.
I think the reason he fumbles a lot, when he runs, is because when he slides he has the tendency to go head first, not feet first. When he hits the ground, often times the impact to the ground will cause a fumble. Has anyone else noticed this?

Off the top of my head, I only recall Joe sliding feet first almost every time he runs for a gain.

I might want him to do that probably once every now and then just to keep defenses honest! Otherwise I prefer that he stays in the pocket...

You still mad bro?? Look, I would not worry bout O-Line this year, what people need to look forward to regarding Flacco is
Developing Doss, Q, and Streeter
Finally Unleashing our new JJ
Torrey Breaking 1000
Boldin killing in the slot

We don't need suggs, but damn with him we are golden.
Sorry, but I think Fly is right:

Flacco is learning, entering his prime, learning to be comfortable in the pocket and going through his progressions. In the next 2 years, he will begin gaining the recognition and acclaim that he deserves.

We have the NFL's best all-around RB.

Our TE's are young, athletic and improving and will be a force in the future; even though he struggled with drops last year, I believe Dickson has a higher ceiling than Pitta, and could develop into a Pro-Bowl TE in 1-2 seasons.

Our WRs are a work in progress, with a young, blazing fast receiver and an aging, crafty and reliable work horse on the other side. Jones is an interesting pickup, but the FO has to develop and begin featuring the best of the young bunch, of Doss, Reed, LaQuan and Streeter.

But... IMO, the Offense will sink or swim, based upon our OLine. It's a question mark. Yanda is money, and Oher - if kept at RT - may regain the shine that excited us his rookie year. However... Week 1, McKinnie will be 33, Birk will be 36, and Jah Reid has played in 3 NFL games. Neither Ramon Harewood nor Justin Boren have ever taken an NFL snap, and (obviously) Osemele and Gradkowski will go through the growing pains of an NFL rookie.

Not to say the situation won't develop, but it IS a question mark... and injuries could be catastrophic, if a seasoned OLine starter goes down.

Our Offense's effectiveness will hinge on whether Cam & company can prepare this group for battle.

I always remember Flacco going deep and catching that pass from Troy Smith. Two things come to mind. Flacco has some wheels on him and Man was Cam Cameron creative in 2008. I miss creative Cam....

I don't think we need Joe to have 35 yd runs, but sometimes he gets pressured, and if he just moves 10 ft., he can make a lot of plays. I think he reacts to quick sometimes. I also think he'll improve on that. His 5th year starts now.

I agree that the ability to move out of the pocket can make the difference between a sack and a completion. This is true only if our receivers can get separation. I think that years 5 - 10 will be the most productive for Flacco.

He was probably told to not move because of a certain someone. If Joe Flacco is allowed to play with instinct then he runs more and makes plays.

I hereby ask the mods to lock any more Joe Flacco threads that come up. They make up like a 3rd of the last month's topics!!!

Phew! A thread finally blaming everyone else except Flacco for the failures of this offense.

How many times do the Ravens have to change their receivers? I mean, people clamored for Boldin and were so happy the Ravens played it cheap and got him instead of trading for Brandon Marshall. Then people cried they didn't have a deep threat, so they got Torrey Smith. They drafted 2 tight ends as well.

So, people want the receivers changed again? Let me guess, you now what a receiver you can depend on every down? Like... a Derrick Mason type? The same guy everyone said was too old and should be released for the younger guys?

Seriously... good quarterbacks make unknown receivers known. You can point the finger everywhere but Flacco... but eventually this team will have changed everything else, and there's still going to be that one common denominator.

There are quarterbacks with much less talent at wide receiver, and much less talent at the offensive line. And some of those guys are still able to put up points. It's a long way until the preseason games start, so let's just see if draft worked out. There's bound to be a free agent signing or two. Maybe the offense just clicks this year. But until August 9th(or even the first scrimmage)... GO ORIOLES!

How is Cam Cameron stopping Flacco from running? If Flacco runs, what are they going to do... bench him? The guy pretty much has a free pass on this team... so I really can't but the whole "Cam Cameron is the reason Flacco isn't allowed to make any decisions on his own" nonsense.

At the end of the day, it's about how many games you've won. Flacco wins a lot of ball games. I say who cares if he throws for 4,000 yds,35td's ect... i'll take an opportunity to reach the Super Bowl every year over inflated stats. The guy has the best arm in the league, he's accurate, he can move, he's durable, and he's smart. There are a ton of NFL teams who would kill to have Mr. Flacco under center for them.

How is Flacco given a free pass on this team? Ill agree and say that some of the accusations against Cam Cameron aren't backed up by any shred of evidence, but.Flacco is the most critisized player on this team. Billy Cundiff cost us the AFCC, yet the focus of many remains on Flacco. There IS some truth behind the fact that he hasn't had the same receiving corps two years in a row..well actually he did from 08 to 09 when he had Mason/Clayton/Heap..and in that 09 season his statistics improved TREMENDOUSLY. Hopefully with the same peices in place save for jones, that the offense can gel like you said. Good post.

Dont think Ive ever seen Flacco slide head first. And he rarely fumbles when he scrambles. Mainly when the pocket collapses and he gets a bit flustered is when he lets it hit the ground.

So confused by what some people "see" on the field.
