Can't say I disagree, but to see Flacco ahead of Manning is shocking as well as Big Ben. Almost don't want to say I agree because it's almost unreal. The fact is, Flacco has never been out due to an injury yet and has been very durable. He is on the upside of his career. He has Caldwell who will hopefully refine his skills and help him overcome his weaknesses.

I definitely think he is up there with some of the people between 3-7. Some of them just aren't that good and are overrated.

I agree, between 3-7 is more realistic. #2 is a bit high. I'll put Ben and Peyton in front of him and put Joe on #4.

I don't foresee tannehill starting over matt moore in miami. and gabbert is really going to have to prove himself in jacksonville now that he has some competition. rivers and schaub seem a bit low on the list while joe(hate to admit it) and matt cassel are too high.

Cassell needs to be way down on that list, closer to Hasselbeck. Flacco needs to be behind Roehlisberger. Rivers needs to be higher, maybe 3 at most. I bet Weedon is better than Gabbert, too. Manning is about right, he was out an entire year so I don't pretend to know what he'll look like. Sanchez behind Palmer.

Seems like a prediction for 2012 maybe. If it's based on past accomplishments, Flacco needs to be 4th behind Manning and Roethlisberger. It makes sense as a predictor, otherwise it's unfair to have Luck ranked in front of ANY non-rookie quarterback.

Completely wrong. The writer's of this article are clearly stupid. There is no way Flacco is the number 2 QB in the AFC. He shouldn't even be starting. He sucks! why can't anyone see it?! Better than Big Ben? Come on! What a farce.

In all seriousness, I can't hate it, my man Joe is in second! But I disagree with Ben, Manning, and maybe Schaub and Rivers being behind him. I'd have Joe 4th behind Brady, Manning, and Ben.

This must be a projection for 2012. Because there is no way Joe should be infront of Ben or Peyton, I'm sorry.

I can't take the list seriously with Cassel in the top 5. His best season was in the New England. He hasn't reached 60 percent since. There shouldn't even be speculation if Rivers and Schaub should be ahead of him.

If it's based on overall careers but also projection of this upcoming season:
Brady
Ben
Flacco
Rivers/Manning (injury)
Schaub
Hasselbeck
Dalton
Palmer
Fitzpatrick
Cassel
Sanchez
Luck
Gabbert
Weeden
Tannehill

Negs because Flacco is 6th? Why? (Don't like an anyonymous neg system simply becaue it lends to cowardice - at least have the usernames on there :))
At Best I have him 4th or 5th (I overrated Schaub a bit).

Not a Flacco hater by any means so calm down peeps. :)

oh and I put Henne and Moore there simply because I don't rate Tannehill or gabbert. I'd barely have them in the top 30 QBs...in the AFC.

This list is obviously trying to grade people going into the 2012 season. Otherwise, I don't even know?

Ben is injury prone, was suspended for 4 games a couple years ago, and is coming off of a season where he lost to Joe Flacco twice and then lost to Tim Tebow in his one and done playoff appearance. I think Flacco is likely going to be the clear-cut better QB at the end of this season. If you're looking at Ben vs Joe for just the past couple of years, its honestly difficult to make a case for Ben.

Rivers is a regular season stat warrior. He never produces in clutch, he's like a better version of Tony Romo.

Peyton has more then one gigantic question mark going into this season.

All that being said, I wouldn't fault for rating Flacco anywhere between 5 and 2. Lower then that is a bit of a joke.

I have no idea why this guy has a giant mancrush on Matt Cassell though.

Except not even...Romo had half of the picks Rivers did last year.

Honestly, moreso than Peyton, I question Denver's receivers. Decker and Thomas aren't scaring anyone.

I guess I have to disagree with the majority because I don't think that Manning should automatically be given the benefit of the doubt. He is old, returning from multiple surgeries, and starting for a new team. I'd flip Ben with Flacco and I might not argue vehemenently with anyone who putt Rivers ahead of Joe, but that's about as far as I'd go.

Brady and Flacco were the two last AFC QBs standing last year. If these rankings are based on where they ended '11 and where they go into '12 I don't see why Joe isn't #2. In any case, who really cares?

Is this one of those fansites that allow anyone to write ? Baltimore does not have a history of good offense. I think Flacco is 2 or 3 and don't know how Luck can be rated so high without playing a down in the NFL.

LOL a shill for Flaccos agent must have written that article....

A funny thing happened on the way to grading quarterbacks....

Lets see Flacco finished 7th in the AFC in quarterback rating finishing behind all world Matt Moore and ancient Matt Hasselbeck and just squeaked by Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton.

In ESPNs TQR system for quarterbacks he finished 7th in the AFC as well anyone that thinks Flacco is a top 5 quarterback in the AFC is a [s]Ravens[/s] Flacco fan drinking the koolaid, a family member or agent. The statistics and LACK of CHAMPIONSHIPS prove it to be absurd.....

Unbiased observers that happen to be Raven fans or other fans around the NFL chuckle at the notion that Flacco is a top signalcaller.

Matt Moore? He had Jake Long, Brandon Marshall, and Reggie Bush. That's a pretty damn good group right there.
Blaine Gabbert had nothing, really. Can't fault that man.
Carson "The Turnover" Palmer? Yeah, he's good all right. Ask the Raider's fan around here. He'll tell you that they have the best WR corps in the league.
Mark "The Shell" Sanchez, who gets scared and gets into a shell when he gets hit too many times? He at least had LT, D'Brick, Mangold, Greene, Santonio Holmes, and freaking Plaxico Burress as well as Derrick Mason at one point. What else does he need?
Matt Hasselbeck is a good football player who took a team to the Super Bowl. Granted, he isn't the BEST QB, but he's pretty damn good and was better than any of Seattle's other options that they took over him. Still, he had Kenny Britt and CJ2K (or 1k, now) and when Britt was hurt that was it for Hasselbeck.
Andy Dalton might suck it up this year. I don't think he repeats his previous success. He also has AJ-Freaking Green. Yeah. And Caldwell, Simpson, and a pretty damn decent OL.
Philip "Cry Me A" River? He's an emotional guy all right, but I wonder how emotional he would be without Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd as well as some decent RBs behind him. We'll find out how good since he doesn't have VJax anymore.
Matt Schaub? No. The guy had Andre Johnson. Andre Johnson. He also has one of the best OL in football as well as Arian Foster. That's absurd.
Matt Cassel is a scrub. Not sure how he made it in the top-10, let alone the top-5.
Big Ben is a very damn good football player, though I think he may be entering the end of his career after all those injuries he's taken.
Tom Brady is Tom Brady. I don't need to go even further.

Flacco had a below-average OL, WRs who kept dropping balls as well as Ed Dickson (a handicap in and of itself on 3rd down), an elite RB sure, but what else did he really have? Torrey Smith is not AJ Green, neither is Boldin. I think Flacco is the top-3 QB in the AFC easily at this point. We don't know how Manning returns from that injury. If Manning is back to himself, well, then Flacco is a top-4 but that's not anything to be ashamed of at all considering the AFC has some of the best in the league.

So there are 5 Superbowl winning QBs in the AFC? Do tell.
There are only 3 currently/will be starting - Manning, Big Ben, and Brady.

Number four for Flacco sounds about right.

I would probably still put Flacco behind Roethlisberger, but Ben's durability concerns are probably what drop him down this list. Manning has been regressing for a couple years now before the neck surgeries. He has to now start over again on a new team, with new receivers, and in a different environment (no more dome games 9-10 times a year). It wont surprise me if Flacco is better statistically than Manning next season. I can guarantee he wins more games.
