Billy Cundiff And Competition

135 posts in this topic

The more I hear about this Texas kid, the more I like. Pretty confident Billy is our guy as of now, but would love to see what Tucker can do

I hope the best Kicker in Training Camp and Pre-Season wins be it Tucker or Cundiff but I'm rooting for Tucker and starting up the band wagon so all aboard the Tucker Band wagon!

Wishing Billy the best in his competition with Justin Tucker. Billy is a class guy. When he had to cancel from the Raven's Fan Cruise this year because of his wife's pregnancy, he wrote a nice letter and mailed autographed photos to those who had booked the cruise.
It's great to have guys like this on our team!

From what i have been hearing about this guy Tucker ( making 50 yarders all day), im going to say BYE BYE to Cundiff. Sorry im still P.O.ed about last yr let alone the whole afc game. Lets not forget the Seahawk game, he missed 3 gimme kicks. That right there would have put us in the win column.

Already with you boss, i gave Billy plenty of chances but that AFC game was the last straw. I took up for him all last yr, sorry not anymore. Especially when we have another young kicker that has ice for veins and doesnt have misses going through his head when he is about to kick.

I say keep Billy on the back burner just in case but hopefully we dont need him because that will mean our new kicker is clutch.

It could be worse, we could be the Steelers with Shaun Suisham and an undrafted rookie with far fewer accolades than Tucker competing for our kicking spot, haha. Nothing against him personally, but HOW Suisham has lasted this long in the league with how mediocre he has been at every stop he has had is beyond me.

Looking forward to what I hope is an actual competition between Cundiff and Tucker and not just "an extra camp leg" theory.

Cundiff is a good kicker, no doubt about it, but is he really a clutch kicker?

Being clutch is really that it's either you have it or not; it's sort of like you are naturally born with it.

There is no doubt Billy Cundiff will kick the best in the regular season, but will he be ready when the whole season, dream, and effort of the team and the Ravens nation depend on his one kick?

I think it's fair to let Cundiff and Tucker to battle it out for the main kicker position.

PS: I worry Cundiff might win and let us down in playoffs. That missed kick will never be forgotten in my head..........although so many factors had indicated his kick should never be happening; however, a miss is still a miss.....

He has shown signs of clutchness(how is it spelled?) Buffalo and Steelers OT last 2 years and Cardinals game last year. Clutchness also comes down to confidence. When you were injured it might lower your confidence. We won't know until the season starts.

The first kick Billy misses at M&T ,well you know what's gonna happen .

We need to find a new kicker, plain and simple.

Regular season and playoffs are two different things; the pressure on playoff is just off the roof comparing to the regular season. WHen you lost in regular season, you can recover the next game, but if you lose in playoff, you can recover next year or possibly never again if you team struggling to make to the post season.

Like we all agree, we'll see how it pans out in the training when Tucker and Cundiff are competing, but I rather not see Cundiff coming back.

About his injury, he was cleared to play for the remaining season and the post season. If his injury would affect his kicking, he should speak the truth.......

Any player is going to want to be the guy to make the kicks for their respective teams. Honestly, Billy was in no condition to kick into the post season. Shayne Graham would have been the better choice for us. To touch on Billy Speaking the truth. If the coaching staff had brain cells, they should have seen that he was unable to make kicks beyond 40 yards....

I'm not going to hate life if cundiff isn't our kicker the guys has bounced around and just isn't as consistent as a team like Baltimore needs. A lot can be said about him deserving the spot over a rookie but that just it, a rookie is new blood and it's something Baltimore needs all over. There's going to be some major changes in the coming years and I feel this is a solid place to start.

I think that someone should kick Cundiff 32 times in the seat of the pants for missing that kick.

I like Cundiff and how clutch he has came up in SOME games for us. But his kicking power isn't there like an excellent kicker should have.
We cant have everything we want, and i'd take Billy over a lot of other K's, but id still be searching for competition if i was Baltimore's FO IMO..

Cundiff had one good year in the NFl and that was with us a couple of years ago. The stats in other
years indicate he is a very mediocre kicker.

After watching the 49ers and Patriots kickers last year,I think we should be able to do better then ONE YEAR
I DID GOOD BILLY.

K Justin Tucker not on roster, never signed before/during/after rookie minicamp-- was a tryout player. Cundiff here today, only K on roster.

I find it weird that he hasn't been signed yet. There must be some sort of gentlemen's agreement so the Ravens can check out all of their UDFAs or something. I can think of 10 guys that they could cut right away to find a spot for him though. Kinda weird.

I'm not concerned that Tucker isn't signed. We won't go into camp without some competition for Cundiff. The Ravens always have competition for every spot on the team under Harbaugh. I don't expect this year or Billy to be different.
