Beastie Boys Adam "mca" Yauch Passed Away Age 47

20 posts in this topic

Adam Nathaniel Yauch a founding member of hip hop trio the Beastie Boys passed away on May 4, 2012 aged 47. He had announced in 2009 that he was being treated for cancer but it is not yet known if his death was a direct result of the cancer. Russell Simmons' website glolbalgrind.com first reported the death.
MCA co-founded Beastie Boys in 1979 with Mike D, and Ad Rock ... and went on to churn out some of the most iconic albums in hip-hop ... including License to Ill, Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication. The group has won multiple Grammys and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Very sad. He died at such a young age, but he leaves quite the legacy. Licensed to Ill was the first CD I bought as a kid and I still love it. MCA you will be missed.

My all time favorite group. Rip MCA. Silenced at 47. First time I've ever really been genuinely upset at a stars passing. :(

Very sad. One of the most original, unique bands ever. RIP. :(

Have you ever heard thier album "The In Sound Frow Way Out"? It's all jazz music. These guys are phenomenal. They'll never be anything like them again. One of those groups that have no equal. Like I said, my all time number one band. I'm so bummed.

Always been a big fan. 1988 I got my first tape. Licensed to ill. Listened to it over and over again. That and Weird Al. Pretty much sums up why I was a strange kid.

Enjoy. A filmed live performance transferred to hundreds of oil paintings and then re animated.

We stepped into the wind. He had a gun. I had a grin. You think this story's over but it's ready to begin!

I remember in '98 back in high school when Intergalactic came out and all the bootleg tapes were floating around.

Live in Amsterdam. You can guess what was on the menu. Headphones work great for live stuff in general. 1/28/01, you'll be elated that they use the word "noice" on purpose at one point, lol.

Indeed. I'm still gutted. A live band playing on the Gulf the other night was playing Come Together by the Beatles and broke into Paul Revere right in the middle of it. I busted out laughing and dropped a ten spot in their tip jar. Guy shouts out "rip MCA" before the $ hit the bottom of the bucket. I still can't believe they are over.

Thanks. Now I have to go watch my DVD of them live in Madison Square Garden again. My wife officially hates you, lol.

i am a year younger than MCA and literally grew up listening to the Beastie Boys music and now he's gone? unbelievable!

Run DMC is my favorite "iconic" rap group. however, when the Beastie Boys came on the scene, i absolutely fell in love with these cats. they were fresh, inovative, crazy and wild but great entertainers. this is a serious loss to the community of "old-school" hip hop.

R.I.P. MCA
