Offense, The Time Is Now

65 posts in this topic

Let's be honest, the defense is going to regress this year, as Suggs cannot be replaced. There will be more pressure on the offense to keep up with opposing offenses, which include powers like Houston, New England, and Philadelphia.

Flacco, Rice, Oher, Torrey, Dickson, CAM CAMERON, etc must all step up big time. Are they up to it? I think they are, but we shall see.

Yeah Flacco says he is the best. Well he will have to prove it. Rice and others will have to step up too. Man not getting a wr is looking like a bad move. In my mind it completely negates the upshaw pick.

PS next man up is not a saying you say when replacing a hall of famer in his prime

I was saying this too. I think Flacco will shine this year. I'm very cocerned though about Suggs' injury in the long run. He's up there in age and you lose speed from achilles injuries. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Back to the offense I hope Cam gives Flacco more control and actually makes adjustments. He should be coaching for his job. Did they ever say how long Cams new contract was for?

I'm excited to see Joe, Torrey, Pitta progress, and see how much of an impact rookies like BP and KO have. But my expectations for the offense as a whole are still tempered.

Always comes back to that. Players don't fit the scheme and vice versus.

We'll be fine. We have the best QB in the league.

We're trying to be serious here come on..... Ok, you got me, LOL. I will add, Flacco probably takes more of a media role and elevates his play. I'll one up that and say we finish with as many wins as last season if the other key players can remain healthy. All I ask is that Torrey makes it through the season. Side note, Suggs was our defensive player for the Madden cover, see what happens if you're even considered to be on the cover of the game. "The Curse" is real.

We will be fine. Suggs injury doesn't really affect the offense, they need to take the next step regardless. I'd set the same expectations for the offense if Suggs was healthy. I believe we will be better this year. The difference is, I think there's a light on the O now. So, all I have to say to that is, it's time to shine.

More than ever, our offense needs to pick it up. Been over a decade, lets see if our offense can pick up defense's back. Lets go!

i hope cam gets more creative, more 3wr sets, more 2 TE sets, we have explosive players on offense and joe has prolly the top 5 biggest arm in the league, stretch the field and open it up for RR.

I dont think our D will suffer that much. Sure no one can replace Sizzle but we got some great, hungry LBs right behind him.
Kruger in his contract year, Upshaw playing with a chip on his shoulder after falling to the second round, Kindle trying to redeem himself, in what he knows will be his last chance.

Sure Suggs is a huge loss for us (& I still feel sick to my stomach) but It's not like he is the heart of our D. It's not like he is our Polumalu... We still have Ray people! I don't care how old he's getting, hes still a machine. And he will get evey player on our teams mind right emotionally after this blow.

We still got stars like Ngata,Reed,Webb,Smith,Pollard,Williams, and McPhee who looked great last year.

I honestly dont think we miss a beat on defense. Although what could have been if Suggs never got injured. But theres really no purpose to even think of that.

Just pray he has a speedy recovery, hope for the best, and be thankful we're not Brown fans. lol

Hopefully he can come back next season and be himself. We'll have to wait and see..... But I think my work is done here. PEACE.

I have a feeling that you will all be surprised by our offense this year. Here's why

1. Cam stepped up is playcallin against the pats. He had Flacco rolling out, running etc.... I have a feeling there is more of the same to come.

2. Flacco is working with Caldwell. Honestly I think this was our biggest acquisition of the off season. If there is anyone who can help fix Flacco's problems its Caldwell. Expect a big year from Flacco due to Caldwell's tutoring.

3. The wideout/TE core will improve. Expect Dickson Pitta and Torrey to all improve. We may even gain help from Doss Williams and Streeter if we are lucky, but expect the drops to end.

4. Rice will be back - if he doesnt come back all hope is lost. Expect it to happen and for Rice to be Rice.

You're saying this season is going to be in Cam Cameron's hands, essentially. We are screwed.

Pees did magic with an old and slow NE defense when he was the coordinator. We have younger and faster upcoming players.
McPhee will have a big pass rushing year. Kruger/Upshaw will have to shine, but not everything is lost.

You guys are so dramatic lol. We've had defensive stars miss multiple games before and we were fiiiine. Yes Sizzle came off an amazing season and that makes the loss seem more devastating but we will still be a top D. The offense needs to take more steps this season but they've needed to before Sizzle got hurt. They need to take steps but it won't be "all on their shoulders".

I feel like Flacco's going to have a good year, but if I don't see his name til august I'd be thrilled.

I thought Joe Flacco sounded like Joe Flacco at the beginning of last season: "I think I'm pretty [darn] good."

Unfortunately, we know how that worked out.

Between Flacco's thus far underwhelming stats, Cam's record in Baltimore, the O-line's uncertainty, and the fact that there is arguably only one pass catcher who can strike fear into opponents, I'm not really convinced that this season will be Flacco's coming out party.

Of course, a subpar offense hasn't stopped Baltimore from reaching the playoffs for the last four years so I'm not saying the situation is hopeless. I personally, don't expect the offense to be truly impressive (and certainly not elite). That's just my opinion though.
